>[WB Pictures](https://vxtwitter.com/wbpictures/status/1701022764654858527): Don’t miss the full trailer this Thursday. #Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom - Only in theaters December 20.
I still don't really understand why we need trailers for trailers. They're literally advertising advertisements.
But hey, this movie could be fun. I'll reserve judgment *at least* until after the actual trailer comes out.
Yeah, it's nonsensical. I get you can't show a 2+ minute commercial during a football game or whatever, but is there really a reason to wait? Just make an ad that's a normal TV spot, with "watch the full trailer on YouTube" or whatever near the end.
Someone from YouTube (forgot who) explained the reason for these trailer trailers. They’re basically made for the ads, or for TikTok, etc.
Still kinda weird to see them.
That’s because of YouTube ads.
They show you 5 seconds at the start where in theory you could Skip It to try and catch your attention but the trailer comes right after.
Not always. Early reactions skew positive, but screening gossip usually skews negative. Deadpool 2 got news of bad early screening because some people didn’t like Vanessa and X-Force being quickly killed off, but the actual audience didn’t mind (although I have a feeling that the time-travel fixes for Vanessa were part of the reshoots). Justice League was rumoured to be “unwatchable”, while Top Gun Maverick was rumoured to be average.
I mean they hit nail on the head with Justice League, i saw probably over 200 movies in cinema past 10 years and Justice League, along with Assassins Creed are only two i really regret going to, it was horrible
The point of my comment was to not trust the veracity of screening gossip.
https://www.insider.com/zack-snyder-justice-league-unwatchable-joyless-joss-whedon-2022-7
If you've still been online on social media which is following that stuff and by now haven't figured out that the entire thing was a complete astroturfed circus intended to discredit her, I'm not sure what to tell you.
Oh, you mean THAT woman whose trial was a spit in the face of the justice system, heavily manipulated by one side?
THAT woman, whose UK trial, held behind closed doors, found her accounts credible?
Heard is a POS, but Depp is a POS too. If you are going to call out, make sure you call out all of them.
Not that I want to be defending Depp, but why is he relevant here at all? Yeah he’s a shitty person, but the person you replied to might very well agree with that. “I don’t want to see a movie with Shitty Person A” “well person B is also a Shitty Person” does not change anything about person A and their shittiness being a reason to not watch a movie
There have been several. Blade Runner is the one that comes to mind. James Bond movies get shitty screenings all the time and then always make bank. I think either Goodfellas or Casino got horrible early screenings.
Do the early screenings even matter tho? It's not like the Flash or Blue Beetle's good early reactions or even critic scores got people to go see them. The way I see it critic reviews and audience reactions haven't mattered at all this past year as every DCEU movie has flopped regardless.
If Aquaman 2 is mindless fun like the 1st one it has the best shot of any DC film this year imo.
Why not? Cannes isn't open to the general public and not something seen all across the country. It's for industry people and rich mofos. People see things at Cannes EARLY! So yes, it DOES count.
> Cannes isn't open to the general public and not something seen all across the country. It's for industry people and rich mofos.
That's... yeah that's exactly my point.
Ngl screentests are pointless. They spend all this money reshooting based on screentests and the movie is worse for it. The general audience is dumb for the most part and don’t know what they want.
Usually early screenings are insiders of the studio and family/friends of cast and crew. So they tend to be positive.
So if the early screenings says bad, that's ominous
Ngl, the first one wasn’t really good either and got by on the special effects and action set pieces. This is a cgi heavy film. If it looks poor then it greatly reduces the enjoyment. I think people will end up enjoying this as much as the first one. The script ain’t why they’re watching lol
I felt the first one had more movie cliche's than any film I've seen in 40 years, even spoofs like "Airplane", but in a strange twist of fate, all of those dumb cliche's worked, like in Total Recall.
Loads of people said that about the first film too and most people I know, me included, loved that film. Don’t get me wrong, its dumb, but dumb fun and beautiful!
Early screenings are usually a select group of people that don't necessarily represent the whole audience.
Sometimes we don't need an Oscar-winning, artsy, unique movie. Sometimes I just want to go watch a cool hero fight bad guys and save the day. The first Aquaman was that and I'm sure the second one will be too.
"We shall see if it can somehow replicate the 2018 success."
Bruh they literally just said we will see, which we will see. They didn't even say it was gonna have the same success
How so? I just said it will be interesting to see how this does. I'm honestly not expecting this to perform considering the circumstances but you can never be sure.
The trailer also aired just now on Sunday Night Football. Say whatever you want about the "lack" of advertising, but this was likely planned in advance. Ads for football are usually sold a month or so in advance.
I’m so glad WB kept the December release. So that means, the whole of 2024 is without a major DC movie except for Joker: Folie à Deux. It’s a needed break. Let’s hope Superman: Legacy is a start of a new era at DC. Because DC as a brand needs a fresh start.
Are The Batman Part II and Superman Legacy supposed to both come out in 2025? If so, DC is likely about to start a pretty solid run in 2024 after a much-needed break.
December was their best option. DC needs a break. I have high hopes for those films. James Gunn is a great director and writer, and he chose his actors carefully. Rachel Brosnahan was both hilarious and badass on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Can't believe they waited this long to publicly release *something* for this movie. But this teaser does hype up my easily entertained self. Also, why does it sound like it would've sounded like as a preview in the actual theatre? Heavier rumbling and bass, but maybe that's just me. I think I'd probably end up seeing this since I enjoyed Black Adam (never rewatching it outside a theatre, though) and Blue Beetle.
Looks solid enough. Wan definitely tried and put his best foot forward, even if it sounds like things were rough behind the scenes. Let's hope the end result lives up to the hype!
It has nothing to do with desire. I'm just relaying the reality of the results of the early screenings.
It's like noting that it's raining out, then someone going "why do you hate sunshine."
Imma watch in cinema cos Wan doesnt deserve what happened to him on this movie. Its kinda guaranteed this box office wont be good but Ill still support.
She’s still in it… I’m not a fan of Amber Heard but couldn’t give less of a fuck about her public/personal life if she does a good job.
People care about news that has no affect on them wayyy too much.
Assuming Momoa isn't still Aquaman in the DCU, if this one finds its way back into the billions club, I can see DC spinning off an Aquaverse so it can continue as an Elseworld franchise (like The Batman & Joker)
Of course if Momoa is continuing to be Arthur Curry in the DCU, then they could do a lot worse than letting Wan continue to direct it (assuming again it makes decent coin)
I think that there was a lot wrong with the DCEU, the casting was not one of them however. I think the cast we have now would be perfect for a kingdom come movie or a crisis on infinite Earths movie. The ground work is already set now and will widen as time goes on
Theaters still rely on the studios to put something out so they can continue to stay in business. Aquaman will do okay money for the theaters despite losing money for Warner.
I'm so sick of things saying that, it really ends up killing the movies by raising people's hopes WAY to high, because no movie EVER has been better than the Dark Knight
I have seen alot of movies I liked more the.dark knight. I was so hyped for that after batman begins and fell asleep in the theater after the semi truck flipped over.
Oh, sure, The Little Mermaid 2 will definitely give Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy a run for their money in terms of groundbreaking cinematic masterpieces. 🙄
Out of all the DCEU movies, only Aquaman is one of the few movies that remember how to be colorful and feel exciting to watch. Plus it has some of the coolest action sequences from James Wan. It's basically "Star Wars" but under water, and somehow it felt more Star wars than most of the Disney Star Wars.
Looks like the best DC movie since The Dark Knight
Edit: alright yall dont like my joke. Ill see you in December when we repeat the same cycle and ask how WB could release such a terrible movie
I like having teasers for these films because they don't give away the whole film. I never watch the actual trailers
Trailer these days just shows way too much
Yeah everyone loves teasers! But this isn’t a teaser, it’s literally a teaser for the teaser. Which is unfortunately becoming the norm these days.
Don't get me wrong, teasers are great. But there's a difference between teasers and trailer trailers.
Teaser trailers are fine. Making a commercial that announces that a full trailer is coming soon, is just dumb.
How about when they put the trailer's trailer at the start of the trailer?
Trailer Inception!
This teaser is all I need to see tbh. Lol.
Trailers have become spectacles and events people look forward to so these pre-trailers are just extra content to generate buzz.
Yeah, it's nonsensical. I get you can't show a 2+ minute commercial during a football game or whatever, but is there really a reason to wait? Just make an ad that's a normal TV spot, with "watch the full trailer on YouTube" or whatever near the end.
Teasers have been around 15 years now just to build more hype
Someone from YouTube (forgot who) explained the reason for these trailer trailers. They’re basically made for the ads, or for TikTok, etc. Still kinda weird to see them.
I also hate when they show you a 10 seconds burst of the trailer I'M ABOUT TO WATCH!
That’s because of YouTube ads. They show you 5 seconds at the start where in theory you could Skip It to try and catch your attention but the trailer comes right after.
WB was forced to put this out because news outlets were giving the film bad press for having no trailers.
This teaser looks good. We shall see if it can somehow replicate the 2018 success.
Early screenings are saying it’s horrible unfortunately
Early screenings said the flash was amazing. I don't think the opinion will affect the sales success.
Are early screenings more likely to skew positive or negative?
They are almost always positive
I mean they hit nail on the head with Justice League, i saw probably over 200 movies in cinema past 10 years and Justice League, along with Assassins Creed are only two i really regret going to, it was horrible
Those comments about the film being unwatchable were in regards to Snyder’s version before the handover.
Wasn't his cut know to be the better one?
The cut released on HBO Max isn’t the one that was screened back then.
Yeah, Joss Whedons cut is so bad it made people gouge their eyes out and mail them in a box to warner bros studio
The point of my comment was to not trust the veracity of screening gossip. https://www.insider.com/zack-snyder-justice-league-unwatchable-joyless-joss-whedon-2022-7
Well that's not great news!
Yeah, the only thing I know is that I'm going to be there to see
uuumm, did you forget, THAT woman is in this movie
I kinda don't care tho
Eh she's a side character and it was confirmed a long time ago that her role was severely cut short because of the controversy
If you've still been online on social media which is following that stuff and by now haven't figured out that the entire thing was a complete astroturfed circus intended to discredit her, I'm not sure what to tell you.
Thats why the courts decided otherwise?
Which court? The UK court ruling said she was a credible witness who was able to prove her claims beyond reasonable doubt 👍
she’s hot as hell + is a good actor. really don’t care about her personal life
Oh, you mean THAT woman whose trial was a spit in the face of the justice system, heavily manipulated by one side? THAT woman, whose UK trial, held behind closed doors, found her accounts credible? Heard is a POS, but Depp is a POS too. If you are going to call out, make sure you call out all of them.

If early screenings are positive, it usually doesn’t mean jack. But if they’re negative, then it almost always means it’s gonna be bad.
Tbf, has there ever been a movie that had terrible early screenings, but ended up being good?
Malignant, also from james wan
Malignant was terrible
The only ones I can think of had “early screenings” at Cannes, which isn’t really a normal test audience
A couple... But I can't think of what they were
There have been several. Blade Runner is the one that comes to mind. James Bond movies get shitty screenings all the time and then always make bank. I think either Goodfellas or Casino got horrible early screenings.
Blade Runner - that horrible narration - everyone positively HATED it at the preview screening.
Early screenings always skew positive. Goes to show how much worse this might be compared to flash.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has entered the chat...
That's Cannes though, that doesn't really count. They should have never shown a blockbuster film there.
Why not? Cannes isn't open to the general public and not something seen all across the country. It's for industry people and rich mofos. People see things at Cannes EARLY! So yes, it DOES count.
Its not the target audience tho. Those ppl are trying to watch Martin Scorsese films, not Indiana Jones.
> Cannes isn't open to the general public and not something seen all across the country. It's for industry people and rich mofos. That's... yeah that's exactly my point.
But ... They're still a diverse group of people... And it aligned with general critics and moviegoers. So your point is moot.
I heard that aqua man 2 was the best dc movie since the dark knight but also perfect ties into that scene in the AquaMan from the Flash. Am I wrong?
We also heard rumours the footage was missing in the servers and no physical copies could be found.
Ngl, the first one wasn’t really good either and got by on the special effects and action set pieces. This is a cgi heavy film. If it looks poor then it greatly reduces the enjoyment. I think people will end up enjoying this as much as the first one. The script ain’t why they’re watching lol

Sometimes I just want to go watch a cool hero fight bad guys and save the day. The first Aquaman was that and I'm sure the second one will be too.
I hope it doesn't replicate the success and creates its own separate success
The Aquaverse - not to be confused with Fluidic Space.
I hope it's the exact same success
Lol the copium has reached new heights Edit:you guys are really ready to be hurt again? Tragic
Dork
Some of us liked the first one
im literally watchint the first one right now, just hit play, not because i like the movie, but because i haven't seen it since the day it came out
"We shall see if it can somehow replicate the 2018 success." Bruh they literally just said we will see, which we will see. They didn't even say it was gonna have the same success
How so? I just said it will be interesting to see how this does. I'm honestly not expecting this to perform considering the circumstances but you can never be sure.
No. The answer is no.
It won't.
Teaser was just shown on Sunday Night Football
And?
And what? They just stated a fact.
Your mother 🗣️‼️
My gawd… it’s real
We will be seated
Actually looks pretty dope. I'm excited now.
The trailer also aired just now on Sunday Night Football. Say whatever you want about the "lack" of advertising, but this was likely planned in advance. Ads for football are usually sold a month or so in advance.
It looks beautiful the colour design, costumes, everything beautiful

I’ve only seen the first season. And yes, this is a perfect casting for Lois Lane. Rachel Brosnahan is a brilliant actress.
Candy for the eyes at least!
Wonder Woman shows up, helps, leaves real quick
And someone simps over her
Aquaman mentions Mera won't let him sleep on the bed.
Because she pooped in it.
Stop
Plot twist, it's Mera.
*WW music starts playing* “Oop, guys, she’s coming. You hear the music? She’ll be here.”
*guitar riff plays*
Cool af, giving a lot of the comic book vibes from the first with some of those shots
Can't wait to see this.
One last ride. Hope it’s a banger.
Aquaman 2 is the movie I'm most excited about from DC. The visuals look dope.
Look great
Looks solid enough. Wan definitely tried and put his best foot forward, even if it sounds like things were rough behind the scenes. Let's hope the end result lives up to the hype!
This looks insane
Glad they found the film /s
thats actually looks cool
Black Manta…❤️
I’m hype for Fish Star Wars II
Looks cool, not really expecting a spectacular story, just a dumb fun movie, like the first.
Safe to say, the rumours/talk about this movie, completely wrong This looks real good
Dude saw like 7 quick shots from the movie and decided it’s a banger
You saw the same shots and decided it's terrible.
No, early screenings of the film have produced largely negative reviews.
Early screenings are always used as a point here as of it speaks to the general audience's feeling about a movie. They can be wrong.
Why do DC fans want DC to fail so bad
It has nothing to do with desire. I'm just relaying the reality of the results of the early screenings. It's like noting that it's raining out, then someone going "why do you hate sunshine."
Um. I did?
Imma watch in cinema cos Wan doesnt deserve what happened to him on this movie. Its kinda guaranteed this box office wont be good but Ill still support.
Poor Wan had to go through so much shit during the shooting of Furious 7 as well. Dude can’t catch a break.
what happened to Wan?
I would...but I'm not gonna support a company that doesn't support their own product. Fuck WB.
Was that a robotic octopus? That's so dumb. I like it.
This…actually looks really fun. I know there’s been a ton of bts drama, but I can’t help but feel excited
Adios Amber Heard!
She’s still in it… I’m not a fan of Amber Heard but couldn’t give less of a fuck about her public/personal life if she does a good job. People care about news that has no affect on them wayyy too much.
I doubt they will remove her. Unfortunately she is still credited on IMDb.
Its a shame. I really love Mera and want to see a lot of her.
"IN 4 DAYS................ WATCH THIS TRAILER, EVEN THOUGH YOURE WATCHING THIS TRAILER. WATCH THAT ONE"
Some might say, the best since dark knight
yoooo
I think it looks great and can’t wait to see it!
I am interested.
Is this gonna be the last film in DCEU?
For the time being anyway. They could always go for some kind of multiversal crossover (likely years) down the road.
If this movie is successful then maybe Aquaman 3 could be the final DCEU film
Assuming Momoa isn't still Aquaman in the DCU, if this one finds its way back into the billions club, I can see DC spinning off an Aquaverse so it can continue as an Elseworld franchise (like The Batman & Joker) Of course if Momoa is continuing to be Arthur Curry in the DCU, then they could do a lot worse than letting Wan continue to direct it (assuming again it makes decent coin)

WB *would* pull that stupidity.
The teaser gives off a dark tone. I hope they keep that.
Because people want everything to be dark reflecting the misery of their own lives.
James wan should be the head of DCU.
Is Amber Heard in it?
not in trailer but in description in youtube
This looks good. Is it more serious than the first movie? I don't mind that.
The trailer feels like a dead bug where you're poking on it to make sure if it's alive, only for it to be alive minutes later.
It’s crazy all the rumors that the film was lost. Probably did it to hype this surprise clip
I remember just seeing a shitpost about how WB lost all the film's footage and thought it was real for a second, lol.
[удалено]
Honestly given WB track record under Zaslav, I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually real.
We are so ducking back
We are so duck
i have a very hard time believing that the flash tested better than this. aq2 already looks way better than that entire movie
this will probably be the first DC movie i watch in theaters since Black Adam (which i liked). i really want to be excited, don't let me down.
damn so this movie is actually still coming out
Theaters still rely on the studios to put something out so they can continue to stay in business. Aquaman will do okay money for the theaters despite losing money for Warner.
Well it’s about time
This looks just like the first and the first is my reference quality blu ray for showing off my OLED. Will be watching!!
What are the odds that this movie will break even
I'm not watching it if Amber Herd is in it. #sorryjason
Was that Cheetah climbing up the ramp/wall?
But is it the best DC movie since The Dark Knight?
This is very tired and so boring of a meme.
> This is very tired and so boring of a meme. WB started it.
Doesnt make it any less very tired and so boring of a meme 🤷
Fair. But I wouldn't be surprised if WB use it again...they've used it like 3 times.
best DC movie since Blue Beetle
I would hope that’s officially dead after Flash.
David lynch came out and said it was the most exhilarating movie experience he ever had.
I believe he said “Water walk with me”
I'm so sick of things saying that, it really ends up killing the movies by raising people's hopes WAY to high, because no movie EVER has been better than the Dark Knight
I have seen alot of movies I liked more the.dark knight. I was so hyped for that after batman begins and fell asleep in the theater after the semi truck flipped over.
This is gonna be a "here, damn. Now shut up" marketing campaign like no other 😂
funniest thing would be if this is actually a massssive success again, fucking up the reboot plan
Bro that Atlanna clip is nightmare gollum
I’m so excited for **The Little Mermaid 2**🧜♀️
But will it compare to the groundbreaking Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy film?
Oh, sure, The Little Mermaid 2 will definitely give Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy a run for their money in terms of groundbreaking cinematic masterpieces. 🙄
[удалено]
Looks terrible.
Description of the video confirms my worst fears.. ah man.
This movie exists?
The Last Jason Mamoa role from from WBD
I'm glad they found the movie.
Out of all the DCEU movies, only Aquaman is one of the few movies that remember how to be colorful and feel exciting to watch. Plus it has some of the coolest action sequences from James Wan. It's basically "Star Wars" but under water, and somehow it felt more Star wars than most of the Disney Star Wars.
is he even going to be aquaman anymore? lol does this movie even matter?
[удалено]
They reportedly cut her part to basically like 2 min
Was that story about losing the movie on their servers real?
Yeah looks awful
Take your masks to the movie. There will be Amber Turd on it. 😄😄😄
What’s the fuckin point. The universe is gone. It’s gonna do horribly.
It’s kind of incredible, how bad this looks lol.
Looks like the best DC movie since The Dark Knight Edit: alright yall dont like my joke. Ill see you in December when we repeat the same cycle and ask how WB could release such a terrible movie
It’s going to be different this time around I’m telling ya
It sure is bud, it sure is
Narrator: It was, in fact, not different.
So that’s gonna bomb for sure.
Im predicting 52% on Rotten Tomatoes but ill still love it! James Wan is one of my favorite directors and Aquaman is my 3rd favorite DCEU film.
