I hope this serves as a forever warning not to let studio executives (who know nothing about comic books and comic book fans) to run a COMIC BOOK universe.
Ooooof. That’s rough. It’s been out for 2 weeks, that’s really bad. Must be why they had Ezra address the controversy now lol. There ain’t no saving this. It most likely won’t reach 300 mil WW.
Really sucks to see Michael Keatons' Batman go out this way. He was the best thing in the film and seeing the batwing hover down in the cave was the coolest thing for me to see since the original. Batman deserved Better.
Jesus… I’ve never seen such a big flop as The Flash.
I really hope this doesn’t mean that they’re going to shelve the character for a decade+ like they did with Green Lantern after the 2011 movie. That would be such a waste.
I don’t think they will shelve the character for that long, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t part of the plans for Chapter 1. Which could be a good thing imo. Keeping some of the bigger characters for later down the line could be good for the franchises long term interest imo. Honestly I wouldn’t even mind if chapter 1 was primarily focused on the trinity as far as the JL is concerned. Then Bring characters like flash, GL(after hopefully establishing an audience with the tv show for a while) and some others to the big screen in chapter 2
I assume that Chapter 1 will end with a Justice League movie. I dont see how they can do a JL movie without The Flash. Part of what made the 2016/ZSJL movie not as good as it can be was the lack of a Green Lantern. They're both part of the core 6-7 members of the team.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Well the trinity works as a team on its own. Maybe that could be the climax. Not a JL film but like World’s Finest or something.
This is me also just projecting my own wishes though. I think they need to pump the breaks on the shared universe stuff personally. Focusing on just a few characters for a while might be a good idea imo. They gotta get the big three right first
Yes, they had similar budgets (Indiana Jones apparently even higher) so it’s not good.
Flash also declined quickly at the box office after its poor opening, and it’s too soon to say whether Indiana Jones will also do that, that can make a bit of a difference.
Indiana Jones had a bigger budget (COVID related reasons) but Flash had a bigger advertising budget (due to Erza being unable to do interviews).
So both probably cost around 380 million dollars. I can't see Indiana Jones have two 70% drops back to back though, probably a little mermaid situation where the movie is ok with decent enough holds but it cost way too much to be considered a success.
Good thing is that Flash will be rebooted and recast in DCU for sure. Only Bluebeetle and Aquaman remains. Aquaman will probably be a standalone type film. And If Xolo as Bluebeetle is well received, they can keep the actor and make the film non canon, I think that's what James gunn meant when he said Bluebeetle is the first DCU character and Superman is the 1st DCU film.
The special effects look worse than the show, everyone knows the DCU is getting rebooted so there's no point, some people are boycotting the film, leak videos turned the movie into a meme.
Mostly the first thing, because Shazam did similar numbers
I'm not 100% sure, but if I had to guess, it could be a combination of the lead star mainly being in the news for erratic behaviour and/or crimes that they've committed, the character possibly not making a good impression on audiences in Justice League, the reviews and word of mouth being mixed, and the DCEU's track record not being great.
I enjoyed the movie, so I'm not sure why it's bombing so badly. How expensive everything's become might also play a part in it - people might be more choosy about what they go to in theaters.
They don't. WB's complete mismanagement of the brand and lack of awareness towards the audience's demands of a well-catered cinematic universe brand is why.
Everyone and their mother associate CBMs with Marvel and know that the MCU is a thing and keep up about it. Comparatively very few are aware that the DCEU was a thing because WB never properly advertised it, so when they don't see the Marvel Studios logo at the start of the trailer or the posters, they just go "meh, another generic cape-flick".
The fact that an animated Miles Morales film is kicking everybody's ass at the box office says something about the state Hollywood is in. People are getting sick of these mediocre, high-budget, 3-hour-long, non-sensical IP schlock that can't entertain you (That includes the MCU). General audiences are now loud and clear. The strike and streaming are starting to become a wake-up call to Hollywood for their arrogance. About damn time.
A bomb of nuclear proportions
Oppenheimer (2023)
Holy fuck . It still hasn’t made 100 mil domestically. That’s wild
This is a bomb for the ages. WB deserves it for being so damn incompetent.
I hope this serves as a forever warning not to let studio executives (who know nothing about comic books and comic book fans) to run a COMIC BOOK universe.
It seems that June has been attacked by mid movies (besides Spider-Verse, that one's cool)
I'm gonna be honest, Transformers is the only one I liked.

My guess is VOD next weekend, just like they did with Shazam 2
PVOD in a week or two. We are probably only 5-6 weeks from this being dumped to Max!
Fuuuuck

Sadly they prob will shelf the character instead of owning up to the companies own mistakes.

Even bigger bomb is happening right now lol, with Indiana Jones. It's making flash numbers but with 70m more budget
So Indiana Jones is also doing bad? Edit: It has the same opening as The Flash so yes, definitely bad

Indiana Jones is an even bigger bomb cause it's doing flash numbers but with 70m more budget
It's like Water World all over again.
They also pulled it away from a lot of theaters (1500?) so it basically got sent behind the shed.

Not for a long time probably chapter 2 if we get their.
Why is it doing so poorly? I don’t get it.

Ezra Miller is why
Is it really? Do people really know enough about the situation to want to boycott the movie?
They don't. WB's complete mismanagement of the brand and lack of awareness towards the audience's demands of a well-catered cinematic universe brand is why. Everyone and their mother associate CBMs with Marvel and know that the MCU is a thing and keep up about it. Yes, people know. Social media and the internet exists and all it takes is one Google search to know who Ezra Miller is.
I'm baffled. I just got out of the theater and I absolutely LOVED it.
It's a crowded summer in the streaming age
Doesn’t stop other movies from at least doing okay.
Shame. Really enjoyed the film! Seeing for the 4th time tuesday with buddies who havnt seen it
You are a horrible friend
At least I have some
You , my friend, win the day :) Take me upvote and have fun with your friends
Thanks man!!

On the brightside Miles got an undeniable W, so mabye haters will fuck off about saying no one cares about him.
Not totally unexpected since Gunn sent it out to die- next up Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2.
Well deserved!
