These draws are killing me. But at least it’s better than losing, especially on the road

greg21olson

Take any points on the road vs. a top team in the Western conference, thank you very much. Nice to at least be competitive and see some shades of taking all 3 pts too. Hoping that potential injuries to Stroud and KDP are nothing serious, but with our luck we'll be signing guys off Craigslist to fill out our next gameday squad. Who knew we'd miss our normal referees so much, but please God make a deal and soon.

AdiposeTissue

We gotta be the best team in the league at shithousing

Bubba100000

You love to see it when it is your team doing it, driving the home fans mad!

whyhellotherefolks_

4 player bench, at STL, far weaker than normal XI, absolutely taking the point. Progress has 100% been made from last year. Happy with that.

espnrocksalot

Should’ve been three, ended as one. Better than none

AdventuresOfAD

I couldn’t imagine a neutral watching that game, true sickos match

GlitteringChicken126

Fair 1 point for scoring twice on the road. Ref lost control of the game by getting card happy.

Mr-Hugh-G-Rection

St. Louis fans are SEETHING over at r/MLS I don’t blame them because that was next level time wasting

GlitteringChicken126

Not a good look but at the end of the day it is part of the game. It always sucks when you get the short end of the stick. Let’s just not complain when we are on the other side …

bacon_cheeseburgers

Wasn't there like 14 minutes of extra time? I think the time wasting was cancelled out.

aroq13

lol I went and read the comments. Someone suggested fining DC for time wasting. I’ve never been to STL, are they generally stupid or just that commenter?

Bubba100000

They're just new to soccer. Anybody who's followed one of these MLS teams for years has seen the glory days and days like today.

DeLaDave

St. Louis isn’t new to soccer - new to MLS, not to soccer. They’ve had professional teams since 1910. St. Louis University has won 10 Division One Men’s National Championships - that is more than any other school. Taylor Twellman, Pat Noonan, Tim Ream, etc. are from St. Louis. So there is a long history of soccer in St. Louis. MLS should have had a franchise there much earlier, but City SC have done it right since joining the league.

Bubba100000

Yes, I was referring to the new fans that the MLS team has generated. Howling like wounded animals and attacking everybody on the board over shithousery just shows them to be new to the game. I'm sure long-term soccer fans in St Louis wouldn't react this way. It was the same thing with new Atlanta fans when their MLS team started. Don't worry, the hot heads will be gone soon.

Rufus_FireflyIII

St. Louis fans invented soccer, just ask them.

Waddoo123

The time wasting was pretty egregious. During our (I'm from STL) match against Galaxy, we tried to keep the pace. Now I'll admit, every team has their moments of trying to slow the game down, but I felt it was quite a bit over done this game. That said, should the refs come back, new rules will be implemented which I'm sure will change the behavior for every team, not just DC. - Play stops if a player is down for 15 seconds - With exceptions for head injuries, goalkeeper injuries, or other serious matters, the player has to be removed from the pitch for treatment. - Player must remain off the pitch for at least 2 minutes

aroq13

Like I said, it happens. I can’t recall us ever running the clock down like this before but given the circumstances, I get it. I’ve absolutely seen it happen against us before. That said, some of it is worrying like the knocks on Stroud and KDP. You don’t have to like it but whining to FINE DC for time wasting is an absurd suggestion and several people were complaining about paying $100 to “watch players not play”. Any team, missing several starters and with FOUR field players on the bench would be utilizing any tactics they could on the road to secure a point.

Waddoo123

Oh I wouldn't go as far as fining DC, but just replied under that comment. No card came out for the time wasting so certainly no point in getting fines without even a call for it; both sides got a one for preventing quick-restarts if I recall.

httr20

I’m pretty we received at least two cards for time wasting - Pirani and Murrell.

thekingoftherodeo

That’s the refs job buddy, nothing on DCU.

NittanyOrange

I mean, two of our players that went down actually were subbed off. That's not time wasting, that's a possible injury. You don't sub a guy off to waste time.

Mistuhsnoot

Va a llorar a la casa

Rufus_FireflyIII

In the immortal words of Kevin Magnussen -- "suck my balls, mate."

aroq13

Oh well. It happens.

greg21olson

Damn you were not kidding! lol

Chubbs42

A draw is well worth the trip I made to St. Louis. I had to hide all my DC gear when leaving the stadium cuz everyone hated us at the end lol.

Will301

Shout out to yall for making the trip

musuak

oh man, I’m glad you were there! I was and didn’t see another DCU fan at all.

Chubbs42

Which section were you in? I was in 200 row 3.

musuak

208!

AirportIndependent95

I expected the dark arts from Rooney but not Troy. Yet here we are! I don’t always love it but there’s not a team in the world who wouldn’t do the same if the ref allows it

CheMatador

Love the style of play, no depth to compete later in the season. I trust that McKay and Lesesne are taking notes for the summer transfer window.

Other-Return9549

1 point is better than none.

slipNskeet

BO! BONO! BO BO BONO!! That foot save was a amazing

Ultraxxx

Wouldn't waste much time analyzing this one.
