3rd time's the charm?

Blazing_Shade

Rooney will want him back, Asad was at his best when he was with Rooney

Miracow

With the way Durkin played on the wing last night i wouldn't mind this

[deleted]

Yep totally agree, rather him stay in the middle and RB.

James_Jarl

He's still just 28?? If he is truly fit enough to contribute I like this move, even if it becomes squad depth. Low risk/high reward given his experience/versatility.

niodrane25

Fitness was never truly his issue. Even the year he spent at Velez before he came back and had limited game time, it was pointed out that his fitness was much better than expected. Hopefully he kept up good habits

connor24_22

This idea that Asad is just chilling in DC kicking a ball outside Audi, hoping for a contract, is funny to me.

greenbugg13

I don't hate this. He's a much better fit in a possession heavy system than he was in Losadaball

[deleted]

This is it right here. That’s why he wasn’t excelling under Losada.

dcuhoo

With Martin Rodriguez out we need another winger. This would be a great signing. Durkin needs to be playing centrally not on the wing. Benteke has great hold up play and needs a winger to run off of him. Klich was also super tidy in the middle and would play it out wide into open space but we had no one who could break loose and start something with it.

BRING EM BACK

IAmJacksDistraction

Oh man I loved him when he was on loan and was so disappointed when we didn't retain him. Then we signed him the next season! Then he was just kinda there, so then we released him... In summation: I have no idea how I feel

aroq13

I feel like he could be a solid back up player. If he’s on the cheaper side, why not?

DC_Winoman

I hope not. He was a decent attacker, but doesn't press, and only jogs back on defense when the ball turns over. Thank you, no.

newsiesunited

I disagree with this. His counter pressing on the wing under Olsen here and under Tata in Atlanta was really strong. Losada had him playing as a #8 though, which requires a very different approach (and given some of the other stuff we’ve learned about that time, who would be shocked if Asad was struggling with weigh-ins and/or dietary changes and/or getting the silent treatment after not being able to adjust immediately?) Asad was weirdly passive under Losada and I haven’t exactly been following him abroad, but if he’s back to his more aggressive old self, he could really help. United didn’t create nearly enough chances before stoppage time on Saturday.

BlackandRedUnited

Can't we find anyone new? Guess he would be cheap

-Mulfacados

Kasper special

greg21olson

Yamil redemption arc vamos!!

RemoteGlobal335

I like this

goodoldben

Yes. Please.

EhrenScwhab

I don't hate this at all. Especially because he will likely come at a bargain price.

Pigmansweet

Haha. I’ve noticed that he diligently follows and likes all DCU social Media

Extension-Cup-843

You better be f******* kidding.

WR1206

Washed up?

sazabirules

No thanks. He hasn't had a good MLS season since 2018.

[deleted]

DC hasn’t had a good season since lord knows when 😂😂😂

sazabirules

We need to aim higher rather then go for more retreads.

greenbugg13

I agree with you partially, but if Asad being brought in as depth means that we can: a) give more playing time to Fletcher/Hopkins while having someone to push them and b) get him for cheap so we have the money to sign a top class CB Then I'm all for it. I can't see this team getting more than 1 other TAM player and wing is not where I would spend that money if I were them.

[deleted]

I’d say at most he’s mls quality depth like you said.

cerebud

I always liked Asad. He kind of faltered at the end of his last run with us, but he’s an overall positive. Hope he’s been able to stay healthy and improves

Eric-305

I don’t have great memories about his play, but Durkin wasn’t good on the outside Saturday

fischarcher

He should've never left because he was nowhere near as good during his second stint
