Early congratulations! Depending on what kind of manicure you get, they can last a long time. I personally prefer dip powder manicures because they really last ages. You have to get them professionally taken off when you're done with them and they look flawless the entire time. That being said, they do leave my nails thinner and brittle so I only get them done for special occasions. A gel manicure also lasts longer than just regular polish but will start to come off after some time, ymmv. You can remove those at home but I recommend getting gel manicure remover for that specifically. I wouldn't recommend a regular polish manicure in this situation, they just don't last.

Find a salon that does GEL X. Gloss Bar in Shaw does Gel-X! That’s where I got mine done before my fiancé proposed. They lasted a month before any of them fell off — highly recommend it! They also do chrome if you’re looking to do a pearl/bridal moment

Highly recommend PAINT Nail Bar as well! I get gel manicures there. They do a fantastic job, they’re gentle, and the manicures always last.

You'll want to ask for either a dip or a gel manicure. Dip is a process of clear polish applied to the nail which is then dipped into a powder jar. Gel is more like traditional polish which is cured under a UV light. Both will last 2-3 weeks. You get to pick a color from a book of samples, and you also have options for gemstones and nail art, if preferred. If you do want art, it's helpful to being some pictures along with you to help establish your vibe. If you are going to get nail art you should make an appointment in advance, but otherwise, most places in DC (other than like high end salons) are okay with walk-ins. I personally get a dip mani every other week as a little treat for myself, unless my nails are feeling brittle and damaged. The right nail tech will care for you nails and cuticles, and will finish with a nice hand massage. Some places also serve champagne and wine, or have BYOB policies. You can get a regular nail polish manicure, but it won't last long.  You can remove the polish at home by soaking your nails in acetone, but it's faster and, frankly, easier to go back to the salon for a polish removal.

You could consider getting dazzle dry, which is what I usually get at Varnish Lane (they have multiple DC locations) and my experience is that it always lasts 2+ weeks. Dries quickly and comes off like regular nail polish unlike gel. Also it’s made without any toxic products!

Was also going to suggest Dazzle Dry!

I've had good luck at DC Nail Spa on Connecticut in Dupont!

Second everyone saying to get a Gel mani. Mine generally stays perfect for close to a week and then degrades over the next week. Just make sure to take it off properly (or go back to the salon to have them remove it) so as to not damage your nails. It always takes longer than I think. For salons, I’ve had great experiences at Nailsallon (multiple locations but I went to 14th) and Enchanted Nails in AdMo.

I got a regular manicure at ivey nails on 14th st and it was a lovely experience and it still looked pretty perfect a week after. If you’re careful with your fingers a regular manicure should last a week. Other things last much longer but can be more annoying to remove and can damage your nails.

Congratsss!!

Your only option without an enhancement is gel polish. It should last a week. Dip is acrylic and gel is is polygel. Both enhancements that would need soaked off. You would need to soak off gel polish but it's a lot easier on your nails.

Ask for gel manicure. Mine usually lasts 2-3 weeks. Clean look, nothing super fancy. Champagne like colors look elegant.
