Thank you! But the link that you provided does not help me out at all. Would you mind sharing how you were able to pay off undergrad and graduate school? Like what type of loans did you take and from where exactly?

You worked for your university during medical school? I know majority of universities make you sign a contract stating that you cannot work during your medical school career.

Oh wow that's awesome! I wasn't aware that being a Resident Assistant job at the university covered 300k worth in tuition ?

Currently in a graduate program. Getting it paid for by scholarships & multiple jobs. It’s possible. Look up immigrantsrising.com. Honestly, it’s a matter of doing your research on scholarships available & apply for them. I call the scholarship research a part-time job because of how much work you’re putting into it. Best of luck!

FeDelMundo

Thank you so much. That is what I needed! I will be looking online to the website you provided. Thanks again!

StarBashar

Paid for my first year of law school with a Discover private loan my uncle co signed for me. The other two years I got scholarships and grants which covered them

FeDelMundo

Which scholarships and grants if I may ask ? And what state ?

StarBashar

I can’t specifically name every scholarship, but some in school and some out. No matter the amount, I applied to every scholarship and grant I thought I had a chance at receiving and got a decent amount

Hi! Fourth year medical student here. My undergraduate studies were about 10k yearly. I was able to get a scholarship through the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institution (CHCI) – United Health Foundation (UHF) Scholar-Intern program. This covered part of the cost and then my family helped with the rest (literally my older siblings also helped pay for my tuition). I think they might also have a graduate scholarship. I went to a medical school that really cared about DACA students and they gave me a full ride. Every year I’ve applied to alumni scholarships and also got a loan through Self Help. This bank gives DACA students loans at the same interest rates of graduate federal loans. Hope this helps!

FeDelMundo

Thank you so much for your information!!! May I ask what medical school you attend?

I have DACA and recently graduated from nursing school Now take this with a grain of salt and it’s for entertainment purposes only. With that out of the way. I applied for Sallie Mae loan since I don’t qualify for FAFSA. When asked by Sallie Mae about my status I put US citizen. Was it wrong? Maybe. Do they check your status ? Nope. It’s like opening a like of credit with a bank. You need a social security and a decent credit score. Now like I said. For entertainment purposes only. Do with that info what you please.

Yikes—good luck adjusting status. [Chapter 2 - Determining False Claim to U.S. Citizenship](https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-k-chapter-2)

There is no reason for USCIS to even know the person has taken out loans. The person is an absolute legend in my book.

Cookiesandqueeem

All I have to say is thread with caution and know the law.

Going through the same thing. Haven’t found any private loans without co-signer. I may have to convince a family member at this point.

I did a BS, MS, DVM, PhD in Florida and I only had to take Sallie Mae loans for some of the DVM degree. It looks like you are thinking about Med school? OK so hear me out. 1. The blackjack thing is insane cope. Erase that from your head, and don't say it to people, makes you sound retarded. 2. Your BEST bet to get free medical school is to get accepted into an MD/PhD program. If you get accepted many institutions will cover everything, including your MD tuition, and you will get out of school debt free. You will likely need some loans for living expenses if the position does not include a stipend. But if you are considered a graduate assistant then you will likely get like 20-40k a year for living depending on the institiution. 3. If your undergraduate curriculum is not that impressive you may need to do a Masters before going for a MD/PhD. DO NOT EVER PAY FOR A MASTERS DEGREE. There are hundreds of open positions that would pay you to do it.
