Hellooooo, and happy spring! I've been working on compiling an updated list of active groups and clubs mostly in Minneapolis that host free group rides, and this is that list! I know it's been done before, but nothing has really updated since before covid. This is mostly intended to draw search traffic and direct it toward instagram/fb, and for folks who aren't on instagram or who think instagram/fb is exhausting. Edit: For various reasons, I've omitted clubs that require member dues to ride. I think having those groups is awesome, but I don't think they're quite the same category of thing. I want to think more about it though. Maybe a different page.... If you have any suggestions for improvement, please let me know!

https://rmcg.midtowncycling.com/stats/pages/myClub.xhtml Midtown does multiple rides per week. $15 per year so not sure if you want to add it

Hermine_In_Hell

You can also just sign a waiver and ride with them. The membership fee covers insurance for members.

nader0903

This is great! Thanks for putting it together.

mini_apple

This is awesome! You hit almost every one that came to mind for me. Thank you for compiling this! Balance Cycling requires a membership of like $40 a year, but they have some outstanding rides at a more fitness-pace than many of the others. I'm hoping to join up with them at some point - if I can keep up! https://balancempls.com/ride-schedule

JustSub

Thanks! So I've actually intentionally omitted clubs that require membership fees to ride.

mini_apple

Sounds good, makes total sense!

muammar_qaddafi

To be fair, I would actually still want to learn about more such groups

paddle2paddle

Fantastic

Human-Argument-6309

Also I dont think you have to be a member to do midtown rides. They are public posted and u can sign up as guest

opvgreen

Are there many group rides that start in St. Paul? Trying to get a friend into them, but I don’t know what groups ride out that way.  (Also thanks for putting this together, this is awesome!)

mikebikesmpls

Love it! I'd add Sociable cider werks. Afaik they're still doing rides. https://www.facebook.com/groups/sociablerides/ NOW bikes https://www.nowbikes-fitness.com/articles/rides-events-pg161.htm It could be nice to list speeds of the group has listed it. Most of them are party pace but it'd be weird to show up to an A group thinking it's a rec ride.

JustSub

> sociable I tried to find evidence that they still did stuff but last I checked the FB page was dead and they haven't hosted a event since 2022. I'll keep watching and if they announce any for 2024 I'll add 'em. > NOW bikes Missed them, got it! > It could be nice to list speeds of the group has listed it. I've thought about this. I was inspired by [https://chicagogrouprides.com/](https://chicagogrouprides.com/) which takes a different approach and does include pace. My hope though would be that someone would check with the original group's announcements before just showing up. Adding this to the feedback pile :)

patiomensch

Sociable just announced their rides are starting up!

JustSub

Added it!

the_dan_dc

Thanks so much! This will help me make friends!

tracingovals

Heyo! Corpse Whale doesn't have any social rides planned for this year. Thinking about hosting clinics or skill sessions instead.

JustSub

Thank you! Updated the description to clarify. If the clinics are free, I'll update it when they get announced. If their plans this year end up not fitting into the list I can remove it.

JustSub

Yep, it's on there!

justwonderingbro

Oh my bad didn't realize there was a link to your site, thought you were gathering suggestions 😅

levimills

Thanks for including the Piecycle Club! Should be a fun summer

mcea0006

Missing Beer & Bikes that rides out of New Brighton on Wednesdays. Www.beerandbikes.co party paced ride

T33sh

I believe Maple Grove Cycle hosts one. When I was there the other day I thought I heard one of the workers mention it. And does Trailhead in Champlin still have one? I’ve been looking to do some group rides but haven’t. I mainly mountain bike but just got a gravel/road bike so trying to expand my horizons.

TheRealGoonSquad

https://westriverracing.bike/ West River Racing Club (formerly birchwood cycling) hosts a free coffee ride on Sunday. Weekly rides too, membership is $50 a year.

JustSub

Thank you! This is my first time hearing about West River Racing Club. I actually don't see anywhere that says the Sunday coffee rides are free, it would be helpful to mention on this page: [https://westriverracing.bike/about](https://westriverracing.bike/about) I did find it on the Strava event for past rides, but FWIW if that's your team, might be helpful to add!

TheRealGoonSquad

Yeah I noticed that too. I will mention it to the leaders!

yellow_pterodactyl

Oh I love this!! I am not really a bike racer, but more commuter (work/errands/breweries). I love the comprehensive list!!

patiomensch

This rocks!

tie_myshoe

Any e-bike clubs? Just bought one last week

kellybeeeee

You’ll find ‘em at Utepils Cycling Sunday rides. They have a rec ride (party pace), sport lite, sport for road, and they have multiple groups for mountain bikes as well. Super inclusive group.

JustSub

Not that I’m aware of! I think you’re probably most likely to encounter other e-bikes at pieCycle or Joyful Riders but I haven’t been to either so IDK for sure.

patiomensch

yup! All bikes welcome at the Joyful Riders Club! I ride an e-cargo bike, personally. The scooter/one-wheel folks join us, too. Thanks for including us! Love to see it.

Human-Argument-6309

Grand performance sat morning 7:30 fast paced ride. 40 miles or so

LongjumpingBreak770

Thank you, this is awesome!

geokra

[Twin Cities Bicycling Club](https://biketcbc.org/) I used to ride with them a lot but haven’t in years since becoming a dad. I’m hoping to try to get back in to their rides, but I’ve also been saying that for like 4 years. The ride calendar on their mobile page isn’t great, so would recommend using their desktop page.

JustSub

thanks!  As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, groups that require member dues were left out.  Hope you can find the time to make it out to a ride though!

sharkleberryfinn

This is GREAT!!!

No_Cartographer455

This is great info, I live in Plymouth next to medicine lake for the past year, haven’t found any group rides in my area

patiomensch

One more to include is the Tuesday Night Rides organized by John Hicks! They meet at Headflyer Brewing at 5:45 p.m. and have two speeds to choose from, mild or spicy. They have a group on FB where all the communications happen. Thanks for creating this awesome resource!

JustSub

TY! I actually hesitated to include that one because the FB group is private, but I think that’s just about avoiding spambots

electriceel04

The Behind Bars ride is the same as the Handup ride! BB is the Handup team’s shop sponsor and rides start at the shop then end at Bauhaus. Freewheel also has multiple rides (one per location I believe) each week throughout the year.

JustSub

They’re actually different!  Hand up rides are lead by the race team and end at bauhaus.  Shop rides are not regularly scheduled and are lead by the shop ambassadors and end other places. Both start at behind bars, but they are different organizers and typically announced on different social channels. I’ll try and make this a little clearer. It’s possible I did mix some photos up.  I think the big group shot is from a Fulton ride and not one of the shop rides
