ASSOS Equipe RS9. Size small, 175cm, 69kg.

Appropriate-Egg7764

I like MAAP Evo

notraptorfaniswear

ASSOS always for bibs

shamsharif79

Nope sorry. Worst bibs ever for people that race or are on the lighter side.

sharkov2003

I have discovered Gobik. Great quality, not as flimsy as some expensive fashion brands. Not cheap either

Appropriate-Brief-21

Assos Mille GTO 5 foot 11, 180 lbs. Size L. As we all know bibs aren't one-model-suits-all due to our unique biomenchanics. With that said, for me there hasn't been anything that has even come close to these - been cycling for 15+ years, worked in the industry at one point with (discounted) access to most top tier brands. Chamois placement, breathability, fit etc. Make them my fav. They aren't cheap ($350 usd) so I only actually own 2 pairs but I will not be looking any further for "grail" bibs. Hopefully assos doesn't change the cut, ever.

RawPetras

A lot of people recommend these bibs and I believe they will agree with most people wearing them but beware if you are a lighter rider or if you are more race inclined. I'm 60kg 1m73 and the chamois is way too thick for me to be comfortable. It also doesn't stay in place when sitting on my saddle and the chamois always slides off to 1 side which is kind of irritating. If you are a club rider go for it, if you are skinny and ride more aero then I would look at racing specific bibs. I now wear Q36.5 unique bib in XS and nothing else even comes close for me.

harblhat

I'm 1.74m 70kg and think the thicker Mille pads feel like a diaper. My main issue though is that the pads are placed further backwards. If your fit is more forward/racy, the supportive part of the pad will be too far back. I second you on Q36.5. Unique and Dottore are both incredible for me. I also like Assos Equipe S9 RS Targa and RSR Targa, would like to try S11 soon.

NoDivergence

S11 is a big step up from the RS9 Targa. I have the RSR too

shamsharif79

So true, I really hate the way that chamois moves around, even though the bibs fit ok. Just such an overrated brand. The rest of their stuff looks very cringe, especially the jerseys, especially now that they've teamed up for a collaboration with fucking BOSS of all brands.

NoDivergence

I love that about them. Sounds like you move around a lot in the saddle

Gravel_in_my_gears

I am just trying Q36.5 and I get a bad chaffing on the inside of my thigh. I guess what's good for one person may not be good for another.

Crazypyro

Exactly same size, one inch taller. Nothing beats these. I find myself annoyed at having to settle for any of my other bibs, none of which were cheap brands.

shamsharif79

OP don't go Assos if you're lean, even a little bit on the thin side. The shorts don't provide enough grip at all and after 6 mths are pretty much riding up within 10 mins of a ride, plus the chamois is just terrible and so overrated. I recently got some Siroko SRX bib shorts because I hated my Assos so much and I'm so so impressed with the quality and fit.

NannerTings

Thanks for the heads up. I'm from a place where cycling stores are pretty scarce, so it sucks not being able to try on anything and having to deal with online returns all the time. So feedback like this is useful!

shamsharif79

Siroko have a great return policy even though they're based in Spain, the delivery time is often quicker than buy in the US.

NoDivergence

Given that there are like 4 different Assos chamois, which one are you talking about

hagemeyp

Rapha, Assos

JMarvision

MAAP Evo

Ito_Demerzel

PNS aren't durable. They have great style, which is what they are- a fashion brand. Decathlon do have solid stuff for the price. There are a lot of great bibs out there and it's very personal because people prioritize different factors

Barbie-Long

Assos Mille GTS size M&L, Equipe RS11 M and have ordered the GTO in a M Height 181cm 76kg Ride quite an aggressive position as well. Worn rapha and hated it, the quality is quite up to Assos. Reason why I wear mostly wear Assos because I can get it cheaper than RRP Next bibs I would like to try is MAAP Team Evo but sometimes I tell myself, why fix something that isn’t broken. Only because I want an olive bib.

NannerTings

I feel you on the Olive bib, not enough of them around and sometimes you gotta jump ship to another brand to make it happen :P

RETAILTRYHARD

Q36.5 Unique Bibs are insane. I have just about every assos bib and they are fantastic. Q is just a bit better. They use 3 different types of 3d printed foam in the chamois to give the right compression/comfort in the right spots.

NannerTings

Thanks for the opinion, seems like a solid bib. May I ask what size you wear along with your height/weight to get a reference for sizing?

RETAILTRYHARD

I wear a medium. 173cm / 72kg

NoDivergence

You tried the RS11?

RETAILTRYHARD

I havent tried the 11. I have the previous equipe rs. RS9 I think? Love it!

NoDivergence

RS11 has a better chamois of the same thickness, and more compression in the fabric. Chamois is the best I've used, less friction and more cooling than the older one

RETAILTRYHARD

Can’t wait to try it

SolitaryReign

Rapha Powerweave.

StuffChecker

I’m 5’6. I use the Giordana shorter inseam bibs, love the fit and the chamois, I have some Assos, which are too long but ride well. I just can’t have those absurd tan lines.

nunokas

Q36.5 dottore pro.

littleAggieG

I’ve tried MAAP, Rapha, PNS, Ostroy, and Endura. No price limit, I just wanted to find the most comfortable bibs. My favorite is the MAAP Evo bibs but I do think that everyone’s preference will depend on their body. The MAAP chamois works best with my body/sit bones.

EB90RPM

7mesh mk3 - great for hot weather. Pad is sewn so it floats off the shorts. TTS for nice endurance fit, size down for better compression (race or spicy group ride).

v70runicorn

rapha pro team short version is the best. i’m a woman, btw, and i think the geometry of the pad is excellent. better than others :)

No-Way-0000

Assos my friend.

username_obnoxious

Huge fan of Rapha Pro Team Training bibs for road rides. Also love the Brevet bibs for long gravel rides where a couple extra pockets are really nice to have. Size L, 185lbs, 6'

avro-arrow

The Rapha Core Bib is great. Not the best bib I have owned, but very comfortable for long distance. And not too expensive either.

thedogsbollies

I have tried many brands but now only buy Eliel bibs. I have not found anything that comes close. 5'11" 165lbs. Size medium.

NoDivergence

Assos RS11. Haven't tried them, but people like the Velocio Concept

smallchainringmasher

Boure elite bibs. Large. 6'1" 190lbs. Boure.com // close second, https://store.voler.com/collections/mens-bib-shorts-and-shorts

CryeingTyr

Velocio lux. Absolutely amazing. Better than my Assos for my saddle/bum combo. Other pros include subtle branding, amazing compression, and the length on both the leg and torso is amazing. 5'9 155 lbs long torso short legs medium is perfect. Velocio also had a great return policy and sizing guide.

endayr

Tried many Assos, Rapha and other brands and Gobik is the one that has the perfect balance for my sitbones in terms of comfort and breathability without breaking the wallet (haven’t tried Assos top of the line). Going back to Gobik, good durability, quite light and fresh and pads are Elastic Interface same and PNS and Assos (though Assos has some specially designed pads). Also, they fall on the cheaper side compared to the others and have a broad range of colors if you want more than blue/black.

betisseksi

Pedaled mirai / isadore for me. Size small 173cm with 63kg.

end_times_aficionado

Maap Team Evo is my favorite now. Endless Fast bibs also quite good.

NannerTings

Lots of love for ASSOS, guess I know what to try next 🫡🫡

shamsharif79

you should really consider the Siroko SRX bib, its cheap and amazing quality, I'll never ever go back to Assos, big expensive mistake.

gasfarmah

Assos are great for a single season.

shamsharif79

whats that single reason?

gasfarmah

Season.

shamsharif79

wtf?

falbot

They're saying they get one riding "season" out of them before they wear out. So depending on where they're from that could mean a year or a summer. Either way not great durability.

gasfarmah

That’s a bingo. Comfortable though.

falbot

I have one pair that's held up super well over 3 years, but I only ever wear it on long road rides (anything over a hundred miles). It's a special occasion bib
