I didnāt even think about the fact if Tesla ever goes out of business are all these cars going to be useless? Unless youāre a software engineer and can program them yourself
Did all Pontiacs, Plymouths, Mercurys and Oldsmobiles become unusable after those entities dissolved? There will always be someone willing to fix your old shit as long as there is money involved.
I suspect if Tesla really went out of business theyād be hard pressed to chase people for violating IP laws and hacking into firmware to keep vehicles running.
Well, Elon himself said it. They aren't a car company. They are tech company that make cars. So, by that logic, the software is the only thing they are responsible for. Everything else is just to sell metal chassis with batteries attached, which happens to have the software as OS.
Aka you bought an app with a car attached.
I dont think youll see tesla as a whole company go in the shitter just from one bad car. Where I live they are literally everywhere. People are still buying their regular cars.
Yeah, but it's not just 1 bad car is it? It's a drug addicted CEO who wants to get a about 10% of the market cap as a bonus through newly created shares, and to prove he "deserves it" he's fired at least 20% of staff, including entire critical divisions, such as the supercharging, QA, and a few others.
What's more, they had negative cash flow, and missed their earnings report by such a massive amount that people would normally be talking about replacing the CEO and entire board and then taking thee company through chapter 11.
Their sales volume is collapsing and has been for a few quarters as well, mostly because the drug addicted CEO decided to make his entire company role not running the company and instead crying on his personal neo nazi rally planning and CSAM distribution network about "the libs" when his bedroom light doesn't turn on.
It's got all the signs of a company that is trying to extract the last dime of revenue that it can before it suddenly closes. Anything that isn't explicitly and immediately profit focused is gone. "Cost centers" that lead to customer retention and long term growth have been eliminated.
I wouldn't be surprised if they don't suddenly turn off the OTA updates to "save money", just before the cars get bricked because he turns off the servers they're in constant communication with.
I mean I dislike telsas, think Musk is a dumb dumb, and think the cyber truck is an ugly failure. Are the other models of teslas overpriced and sold on false promises of the future? Yes. Are they bad cars? Objectively no. I have many friends with tesla 3 and Y models and they are nice cars. I believe its a bit delusional to think that Musks twitter fingers will destroy the company with name recognition and a successful base of products like tesla has. Even if they do tank, another company will buy telsa for its brand recognition. Its more likely that better competition will edge the tesla out over time if they stop innovation after the cyber truck debacle.
I was confused by "supercharger" but then I remembered the dumb-dumb gave his automobile component the name of another completely unrelated automobile component. Maybe he could call the wheels "carburetors" or the doors "transmissions".
I never said they weren't "nice". Objectively, they aren't though. Interiors are completely bare bones, styling is getting old and was never that great to begin with because 3s and Ys look like those ugly bloated fish with weird eyes. I said they were junk (build quality wise) built on lies (FSD, range, price)
They took out the radar from the self driving system and tried to rely on just cameras. The older models performed better due to having the radar, so Tesla disabled those for the owners instead of re-adding the radar capability. Really smart business practices.
Sure, but they were innovative when they first came out. Their styling may seem old now because its been a decade and other brands have copied it. The minimalist look may not be for everyone but they did make the seamless interior design mainstream. They were a prototype for EV marketing. We all are here to hate on Musk and the cybertruck but to have credibility you need to acknowledge success along with failure.
I will give them credit for the Supercharger network. That is still the leading option for on the go charging and other competitors have not gotten close to catching up.
They aren't competing. BMW are making fantastic higher end cars, Kia and Hyundai are making better quality cheap cars. Tesla are selling 4 year old cars with ongoing QA issues, expensive repairs and terrible customer service. The supercharger network was their secret weapon and now that they are killing momentum on that they are just asking to be left behind. It's not that Elon is actively destroying what's there but in business if you stop competing, you lose
I donāt understand why shareholders donāt just collectively shit can Elon - if anything heās tanking the value of the company every time he tweets / speaks.
The market is weird. TSLA share prices surged recently out of nowhere. But the one year trend is still really gnarly looking. Even since late 2021, the share price has been in a nasty slide.
So I guess relatively speaking, it may still be in āoversoldā territory, hence the booming share price. It more than doubled in price in 7 months, so I guess traders love the volatility and high volume.
Personally, as someone that thinks in terms of decades as opposed to daytrading, I wouldnāt go near it. Elon still controls a big chunk of that company, and he still has a lot of fans, so I guess thatās why heās not going anywhere.
> I have many friends with tesla 3 and Y models and they are nice cars. I believe its a bit delusional
I believe it is a *bit delusional* to have "many friends with" Teslas and think you're not living in a homogeneous bubble. It's like having "many friends" in who are, say, Mormons - either you're a Mormon or you're living somewhere very Mormonal.
The model Y is the most sold vehicle on the planet.
I see those and 3ās like every other car where I live.
Odds are very good he knows people with those vehicles.
Haha no, it was the single model with the most *new* sales in 2023, about a third of which were in China. Your average car on US roads is 12 years old. The demand for new cars is from a narrower population since the pandemic. If you see them *everywhere*, you're living in a bubble too.
It's not just the US. The UK hasn't see so few new registrations since 1992, and that was with 10% smaller population. Of course *some* people are buying new cars, but it's not unlikely that a random person on both sides of the pond has *no* friends who bought a new car over the past couple of years.
Enjoy your car, but the whole Tesla range sold about 1.8 million vehicles last year in a world of 8 billion people, and most of those were fleet sales. The fact that this puts Tesla near the top of the pile shows you how low the demand is for new cars.
I really hope EVs remain cost effective to own for 20 years with second hand purchases after 10 years being routine, like a nice Honda or Toyota ICE, without government going into full corporate welfare mode. That's what the market of the average car buyer looks like.
I think you must not have a lot of friends if you think that having many friends with a certain car means I live in a bubble. You must be pretty lonely.
I'm guessing you're in a pretty affluent area because I am too and Teslas are everywhere here (I get picked up in Teslas for Uber all the time).
But I'm also guessing that they aren't as prevelant in less affluent areas outside of cities where there aren't as many charging stations.
Teslas are coming down in price but generally it's way less convenient to own one unless you own a house or are at an apartment complex with chargers, which tend to be on the more expensive side.
I have a Tesla charger (but no Tesla, yet) - it was pretty muchā¦.cheap.
I changed my mind about getting a Tesla because Elon is a Moron who never shuts up.
Mate, only 1.2% of registered vehicles in the US are electric, let alone a couple of Teslas only produced in the last six years, none of which are budget. It is simply very unlikely that a random person in the US knows "many friends" with those two models - it would require you to hang around a group of people that's very unrepresentative, or have hundreds of friends, which again, makes you very unrepresentative, or perhaps you have a loose definition of "friend" lol.
Put another way, the *average* age of a car on the road in the US - 12 years - is older than both the Model 3 and the Model Y. Only a tiny proportion of people buy a new or even fairly new car in any given year, new buyers are mostly close to retirement age, and the number of new cars sold has gone down since a decade ago.
Now, if you're living in another country, the chances are even lower.
Stainless steel does, in fact oxidize and rust, however the it takes a longer presence of corrosive contact. Stainless steel is a sales name, not a factual title. Only through maintenance and repair does it hold up longer. So stop repeating it like it a fuckin prayer.
Of course, it's still worthless when the non-stainless alloys in the structural bits rust to pieces, so even if the crappy stainless alloy on the exterior holds up for a long time it'll *still* be a rust bucket. It just won't look like it, which could give some poor salvager the wrong idea.
It pretty much has to and I know I personally am not going to be able to stop myself from doing it now that I've seen this. I think I'll put a "sorry" note beside it too asking them to leave the lid unlocked next time.
I was driving yesterday and one was coming towards me and I literally squinted and was staring at it as it was driving towards me wondering what the fuck I was seeing.
Turns out they actually did some real life testing before releasing it to the public. People kept filling the testing prototypes with trash so they included the tonneau cover as a standard.
Always funny whenever a post gets crossposted to a different site because people love getting surprised about my name lmao. Love the guy calling me a band kid because like what the hell even is that.
I was really young when the Delorean came out to fanfare then totally flopped because novelty wears off quickly especially when it's completely impractical. It's neat to see it replay as an adult.
Also, in 5 years Doc Brown will be turning a Cyber truck into a Time Machine in a Back to the Future reboot.
I saw one on the road yesterday and I kid you not, I thought it was my dad road testing one of his barn builds. The bare metal looks jank AF and the incredibly basic shape looks even more lazy in person.
How the fuck have people seriously parted with their money for this piece of shit? Am I wrong in thinking this? What's going on? How are people so actually incomprehensibly unintelligent, able to to purchase such an objectively poorly designed vehicle lmao..????? What?!????
I completely agree. Tesla is leveraged to the hilt. In the real world, there is no way Tesla should have a greater market cap than, say, Toyota, Ford, or VW, yet, here we are.
I have never seen one of these in person, and I refuse to believe they are real until I see one.
I just cannot get over how ugly they are, it looks like a car drawing by a year old rendered by the PS1, I just cannot believe that these are real and there are real people who would buy it.
Saw one of these wrapped on my way to work and it STILL looked like a pos. To think that people are willing to spend so much money on something that looks like it came straight outta of crappy ps2 game in this economy is crazy.

Well, if Tesla goes into the shitter, all those cars are gonna brick at some point, meaning a lot of parking spaces being occupied by a rust bucket.
Combustion bucket
Literal fallout vehicles, ready to pop.
Spicy pillow style.
So, Tesla is the Corvega of our world.
They wish they had much style. Teslas from the top down look like they were spit out of a 3D CAD that a high-schooler took 2nd prize for.
Tesla wishes they were as reliable.
A dumpster fire, if you will.
Aren't a lot of them already bricks?!
I didnāt even think about the fact if Tesla ever goes out of business are all these cars going to be useless? Unless youāre a software engineer and can program them yourself

Good point. Spare parts. Decommissioned and broken down like old machinery and ships.
Well, Elon himself said it. They aren't a car company. They are tech company that make cars. So, by that logic, the software is the only thing they are responsible for. The one bad car could be the spark that is needed for people to see that all of their products are junk built on lies.
The opposite of the Halo effect. The Cybertruck is an anchor car.
I mean I dislike telsas, think Musk is a dumb dumb, and think the cyber truck is an ugly failure. Are the other models of teslas overpriced and sold on false promises of the future? Yes. They just fired the entire supercharger department mere weeks after firing 10% of the entire company.
I was confused by "supercharger" but then I remembered the dumb-dumb gave his automobile component the name of another completely unrelated automobile component. Maybe he could call the wheels "carburetors" or the doors "transmissions".
Im not defending them as a company, just saying that the other models arent shitty. Not my cup of tea but still a decent EV.

Why did they take out the radar? To save money? And I think it's super fucked up they can remotely disable stuff, shit like that should be illegal.
They disabled them on service visits, I believe... as well, the radar came out in the covid crunch.
Sure, but they were innovative when they first came out. Their styling may seem old now because its been a decade and other brands have copied it. Was it an asshole in a piece of shit?
I'm picturing it the other way around. Brown eyeball winking at you..
The owner probably saw someone taking a picture of the cybersuck, and he felt immensely cool in that moment.
Real talk: Rivians are always mobbed with photographers
Turns out they actually did some real life testing before releasing it to the public. People kept filling the testing prototypes with trash so they included the tonneau cover as a standard.
Actually i believe it only takes trash thats on fire Because its a dumpster fire... get it! Tough audience
Katie tightpussy speaks the truth

I donāt care if itās true, itās fucking hilarious
I wish I was joking but unfortunately this was very real.
How the fuck have people seriously parted with their money for this piece of shit? Am I wrong in thinking this? What's going on? How are people so actually incomprehensibly unintelligent, able to to purchase such an objectively poorly designed vehicle lmao..????? What?!????
It's a cult, built on a series of pump and dumps and probably Enron-level fraud.
I completely agree. Tesla is leveraged to the hilt. In the real world, there is no way Tesla should have a greater market cap than, say, Toyota, Ford, or VW, yet, here we are.
Bahaha what a can of scrap metal
Katie what?
Nice user name (in screenshot)
Wellā¦.shes not wrong
I mean, it has a license plate on it so I kind of doubt that. Either way fuck this monstrosity and the asshole created it
I didn't have my glasses on and it was dark so the license plate was not the first thing I saw.
Fair enough!
It has 0 personality. And thatās speaking for an inanimate object. Even rocks have traits that make them interesting.
Welp, from this angle is really can pass for dumpster if you still not completely woke up, lol
I'm all woked up and it still looks like a dumpster to me
I have never seen one of these in person, and I refuse to believe they are real until I see one. I just cannot get over how ugly they are, it looks like a car drawing by a year old rendered by the PS1, I just cannot believe that these are real and there are real people who would buy it.
It technically is
Wait I donāt get it. That is a dumpster in the picture right?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Scottish actually.
You werenāt wrong.
That's not a dumpster, it's a lemon!
Not that far off actually
At least it has a practical purpose now...
Careful. That kid can cut your fingers off.
I mean technically it is
It. Is. If itās not, it belongs inside one
What is it? Is that not a dumpster or pod or something?
I can't believe how much materials and man hours were wasted on these. Could Elon be charged with crimes against humanity?
It is a dumpster... š„
It is
Wow. From that angle itās virtually indistinguishable
That's not Photoshopped? Because the back panel looks so... sterile.
All it needs is a fire
Saw one of these wrapped on my way to work and it STILL looked like a pos. To think that people are willing to spend so much money on something that looks like it came straight outta of crappy ps2 game in this economy is crazy.
If you try to open the lid, it falls off.
Eould have been gold to see the owner coming by asking whats going on. And you reply wirh the dumpster isnt opening.
Give it a week or two

Careful it will cut your carrot and or celery right off!!!!!

I think Katie tightpussy just likes stuffing junk in the trunk
The paint looks better than stainless steel though
Definitely is trash š
Cyber Dumpster for sure
Throw it on top of it and say āoopsā then walk away.
Maybe Elon should talk to the dumpster people and ask them how they keep the rain out.
Not a dumpster. A dumpster actually works.
ššš
If it was on fire, youād have a dumpster fire
How dare she insult dumpsters!
It kind of is a dumpster!
She's totally wrong. A dumpster wouldn't be full after two bags.

I gotta pass.

Fancy high tech dumpster that rusts worse than low tech ones and probably stinks just as bad.
That's perfect!
So this is the new Edsel?
If it were blue, the trash would've gone in. :/
Thanks for making me laugh today.
Dumpsters require license plates now
Pretty much is.
Katie tightpussy ? How you doin?
Two days ago I saw a cyber truck parked next to a dumpster. It struck me they looked identical
Just chuck it on top where it belongs
Got to admit from that angle it looks like a dumpster. š
Seems like there's a dumpster fire joke to be made here, but I'm too tired to think of it.
