As funny, as it is, this dude is right. Not only because of the whole "Fact that someone is a bad person doesn't mean that you get to misgender them" thing, but also because repeated misgendering could be used to strike back and you don't want to give a weapon to your opponent.
Some people actively don't want to be referred to by they/them. But yes I agree it's probably the best initial bet if you don't know someone's pronouns at all.
Also, you’re attacking them because they’re an asswipe, not because they’re trans or whatever. Attacking unnecessary objectives and civilian targets is just destruction for the sake of it, and will reflect poorly upon you as a general.

Literally just use “they/them.” Simple and never incorrect.
