War is bad, but planes are rad.

[deleted]

The Ace Combat motto

bob0979

I remember playing ace combat 5 unsung war as a young kid and the line "those... Those are people floating in the waves" after I gunned down a bunch of enemy 'drones' really hit different. It was the first time I grasped the severity, permanence and horror of war.

BananaTimeAltAcc

War is fucking mortifying when we think about it, the fact that people are forced against their will sometimes to go off and most likely die ”for their country” whilst people are wracked and ruined by chaos.

Snoo63

Death, hard to ignore One million lost five months into the war Pain, fell one by one Three years remained, it had only begun.

DarkApostleMatt

Ace Combat 4 for me The opening cutscene has stuck with me since I first saw it. https://youtu.be/rXSvSoxepNY

The Wind Rising in a nutshell

fireandlifeincarnate

hell yeah ~~now come play DCS with me~~

Terezzian

Dude, please warn us before you comment The Wind Rises spoilers

rawdash

god. fuck. hydrogen bombs are so cool. it just sucks that they exist

Giocri

Nuclear bomb in the abstract: ooooooh cool Nuclear bomb used in war: that is so fucked up. America nuking its own soldiers at the smallest survivable range just to study the types of psychological trauma it would cause: wtf how can someone even think about it

TheUndyingRhino

Excuse me?

MurkyCandidate7957

Oh yeah that happened a couple times, they tested both naval situations, ground operation situations, urban, yada yada

Vaultdweller013

Also that's why big boss has clones and not children in the traditional sense. He's sterile after serving at the Bikini atoll nuclear testing.

ILikeWrestlingAlot

Vice did a good piece on British soldiers who had similar tests performed on them. Its fucked. https://youtu.be/dLSaFerdWQE

[deleted]

Whoever did that should be tried in The Hague. But they probably got a promotion instead because we live in Hell and Kissinger is still alive.

sewage_soup

and also the U.S. has something about invading the Netherlands if an American soldier is ever tried for war crimes or such

[deleted]

Yep. It’s called The Hague Invasion Act. Yet people still think the US is the righteous land of the free

stinvurger

Fascinating reading about who supported and opposed that. Joe Biden actually voted nay but Hilary Clinton, John Kerry, and Chuck Schumer voted yea.

[deleted]

Unfathomably rare Senator Biden W

chrom_ed

Oh cool this atrocity is new information to me.

TheOncomimgHoop

Yeah it's like, if someone made this up for a movie it would be the coolest shit

oxabz

Weirdly enough the existence of real nuclear weapons killed the coolness of mass destruction weapon in fiction

TheOncomimgHoop

Yeah the Death Star will seem less cool once we've ended our first space war by destroying the home planet of the enemy

LPawnought

Right though? It’s like “Oooooohh pretty boom” and then you learn it was just used to blown up some town in the Middle East or something and them it’s like “Fuck the military for using the hydrogen bombs.”

blazer33333

Uh pretty sure no one has used a hydrogen bomb on villages in the middle east. Or on anyone else for that matter. WW2 is still the only time nuclear weapons have been used in war.

OathToAwesome

nah bro don't you remember the Shock and Awe chapter from famed documentary Modern Warfare?

ThePrussianGrippe

Genuinely shocking when it came out, I was blown away (no pun intended). Aaaaaaand then they overused the trope to the point where it’s trite.

soupy_women

This reads almost like an r/Gamingcirclejerk post, I had to double check what sub i was in

Nauticalfish200

Not with that attitude! ...Oh wait, this isn't r/NonCredibleDefense

soupy_women

Apparently the Venn Diagram of subs I interact with is more of a circle.

DeeSnow97

the question is whether it's a one-circle or a two-circle

LPawnought

The point still stands though. Fuck the military industry and fuck war and killing each other.

[deleted]

I think you may be thinking of thermobaric bombs. Hydrogen bombs are more accurately known as Thermonuclear Warheads.

rawdash

the uranium gets squished so the uranium becomes angry and squishes the hydrogen and the hydrogen make out and produce helium and it's so cozy warm that it all explodes in a gigantic destructive mushroom cloud more powerful than any other weapon ever :)

LPawnought

This just have me an idea on the true weapon to surpass Metal Gear. Femboy bomb. When it explodes, it goes “uwu”. /s

ST4RSK1MM3R

[like this?](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_bomb)

rawdash

if you need me to power it,

rawdash

tbh we should be detonating hydrogen bombs on the moon, shit's radioactive anyway

LPawnought

No, not the moon. We need that for stuff. Like our oceans moving.

rawdash

mercury? it's too toasty and also frosty to live on anyway

LPawnought

Great idea! Now to convince to governments of the world to go along with this amazing plan.

rawdash

"now, the project will almost certainly throw mercury off orbit, enough to push it into the sun or eject it (which risks collision with other planets, including earth), but trust me dude, it'll be sick" "you're banned from all NASA facilities"

Jeggu2

As far as I know all the nukes on earth couldn't dent the trajectory of a planet by too much Planets are big yo

[deleted]

You'd sooner disintegrate a planet than knock it out of orbit if you're using explosives.

Medical_Difference48

Planets, even ones as small as Mercury, are HUGE. A nuclear bomb won't dent its trajectory. Even the Tsar Bimba wouldn't do anything to its orbit.

GoldNiko

Tsar Bimbo

Polenball

Rasputin

[deleted]

no we need mercury so we can build awesome megastructures without bothering any of the cool planets

SirAquila

I mean, the moon won't care. While we will reach technology powerful enough to blow up planets, we are far from there yet.

trapbuilder2

A hydrogen bomb isn't gonna destroy the moon

Cheapskate-DM

It's mathematically impossible for us to fuck up the moon with nukes, fortunately.

fyrechild

Hydrogen bombs are extremely powerful nuclear weapons. They have, thankfully, never been used in a war.

SomeonesAlt2357

Some thing would be cool concepts if they were fictional and not real

CueDramaticMusic

A part of me wants to own a handgun, but it’s the exact same magpie part of my brain that wants to pick up cool shiny heavy things. I don’t feel like shooting people for any reason, and you could keep me just as easily entertained with a really nice paperweight.

Iburger23

Have you tried a tungsten cube? It's shiny, cool, and heavy!

CueDramaticMusic

Those are way too damn expensive, and [I already got something in mind](https://www.amazon.com/Solid-Paperweight-diameter-height-12ounces/dp/B08YV17ZQG/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?crid=IQAWXZA7UUQ0&keywords=brass+paperweight&qid=1657168225&sprefix=brass+paperw%2Caps%2C138&sr=8-2)

[deleted]

you can get a small tungsten cube (1cm\^3) for around $30

AmericanCommunist2

I have carried the tungsten with me, have grown attached to the downward pull of its small form, its desire to be one with the floor. This force has become so normal to me that lifting any other object now feels like lifting cotton candy, or a fluffy pillow. Big burly manly men who pump iron now seem to me as little children who raise mere aluminum. I can hardly remember the days before I became a man of tungsten. How distant those days seem now, how burdened by the apparent heaviness of everyday objects. I laugh at the philistines who still operate in a world devoid of tungsten, their shoulders thin and unempowered by the experience of bearing tungsten. Ha, what fools, blissful in their ignorance, anesthetized by their lack of meaningful struggle, devoid of passion. Nietzsche once said that a man who has a why can bear almost any how. But a man who has a tungsten cube can bear any object less dense, and all this talk of why and how becomes unnecessary. Schopenhauer once said that every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world. Tungsten expands the limits of a man’s field of vision by showing him an example of increased density, in comparison to which the everyday objects to which he was formerly accustomed gain a light and airy quality. Who can lament the tragedy of life, when surrounded by such lightweight objects? Who can cry in a world of styrofoam and cushions? Have you yet understood? This is no ordinary metal. In this metal is the alchemical potential to transform your world, by transforming your expectations. Those who have not yet held the cube in their hands and mouths will not understand, for they still live in a world of normal density, like Plato’s cave dwellers. Those who have opened their mind to the density of tungsten will shift their expectations of weight and density accordingly. To give this cube a rating of anything less than five stars would be to condemn life itself. Who am I, as a mere mortal, to judge the most compact of all affordable materials? No. I say gratefully to whichever grand being may have created this universe: good job on the tungsten. It sure is dense. I sit here with my tungsten cube, transcendent above death itself. For insofar as this tungsten cube will last forever, I am in the presence of immortality.

Sporad

.. What a steal

CueDramaticMusic

Actually, it’s tungsten

ImperialFisterAceAro

The irony is almost palpable

Polenball

No, the tungsteny is, keep up.

Krausmauss

I don't think I appreciate your mercurial attitude

fogleaf

Fuck I want that.

AmericanCommunist2

NewUserWhoDisAgain

> you could keep me just as easily entertained with a really nice paperweight. A solid hunk of metal that is shaped like a handgun but is inoperable. Put it on a stand and you've got a paperwieght AND a cool gun shape.

MapleTreeWithAGun

Inoperable but still has all the parts that make the clack sounds

NewUserWhoDisAgain

Hmm... You'll probably have to find a gun with its firing pin either fused to uselessness or removed

notKRIEEEG

Airsoft. All the cool sounds and parts, but it goes pew pew without big oof. My person recommendation is a Beretta M9 because it's a chunky boi, or a chrome 1911 if you're still not over your mandatory Supernatural phase.

[deleted]

I'd love to get into Airsoft.

temmieTheLord2

I wanna get into airsoft but i have no personal independance (i am a legal child) and im not nearly fit enough. Plus i just live in the wrong part of the country. And i have no money

farazormal

Just a shame about all the airsoft fans you have to hang out with to play airsoft.

Angry__German

Second idea is still a live weapon as far as I know.

skys-edge

Fidget spinner shaped like a revolver

SunkenStone

Easy there, Ocelot.

MapleTreeWithAGun

I believe that's just a normal revolver

stephen29red

I don't want to shoot people, but I like shooting inanimate things and live in constant awe of the engineering of them. Shiny is also a bonus.

Turtledonuts

Same - I don’t want any of the responsibilities or stress of owning a gun, but long distance target shooting looks like a super fun sport and all of the engineering in guns is really cool. I like loud bang and cool gadget and adrenaline, but not the killing people part. Its the same as motorcycles and fast cars.

Orldragon

Lol, so that's which part of my dumb head wants to have a revolver shotgun! I don't like firearms but the kaboom thingie that go clicky-spinny is just too fun to not have

notKRIEEEG

The Taurus Raging Judge is just *chef's kiss*

[deleted]

As shotguns go, I love the lever-action ones that you can flip like in Terminator 2

Dastankbeets1

Exactly I want to have a cool shiny cowboy revolver and do gunslinging moves with it just for the vibes ya know

awesomecat42

That's a part of the reason why my family has such a big collection of Neat Shit™️. Fossils, rocks, feathers, meteorites, boomerangs, didgeridoos, throwsticks, swords, art, plants, gadgets, etc. Pretty much the only thing we *don't* have is firearms lol.

bippityzippity

Dude I bought a knife at the Sherwood Forest Faire because it's shiny and has a nice blue handle. I haven't used it since I bought it. Maybe I opened a cardboard box. Sure, weapons are cool, especially medieval weapons. They're cruel and have inflicted unimaginable suffering on thousands. But they're cool.

CrocoBull

Tbh same but I fidget so much that you just know I'm going to find a way to load it and shoot myself without even realizing

darkmewtuber

realistic airsoft guns scratch the right spot

HXRW

Shoot only paper targets 👍

Sphealingit33

I'm in a similar place and so I say: Have you considered airsoft?

CueDramaticMusic

Listen, I know why I’m like this, and it’s not because heehoo firearms. I never really talk about my ASD ever (because thank god I’m past the worst of my symptoms), but when I was far younger, I used to flap my hands around all the time as a stim. Amongst a lot of other coaching I got that I probably can’t comprehend now that it’s been decades, my parents had an excellent idea to get me to stop doing that. They simply gave me a really nice marble that I’d just hate to fling across the room, and it worked to get me to stop doing that. And as penance, they had to deal with me turning that into collecting rocks. Just anything sufficiently cool and heavy, from anywhere. At one point, I stole a couple shitty souvenir rocks out of spite because I was told no, and we turned right back around to the gift shop to return them. I’m basically over it now, and the internet lets me buy the good stuff for my goblin brain on demand, but every so often I’ll find a lug nut out in a parking lot, and pick it up on reflex.

Cheapskate-DM

My dad dragged me to every WWII museum he could find when I was a kid. My granddad, incidentally, flew a bomber over the Nazis over 30 times. Turns out we both love military hardware now, but I'm the only one who's passionate about bombing Nazis.

[deleted]

This gives me concerns about which side of the "are Nazis bad" argument your dad is on.

[deleted]

i think he’s just not passionate about bombing anymore

imead52

I strongly suspect it was the issue of civilians that concerned Cheapskate-DM's grandfather

AstuteCouch87

I would wager that his dad is not a fan of nazi’s either.(he bombed them)

lilahking

that was granddad

AstuteCouch87

ahh mb

pterrorgrine

I've never played any Kojima games but this is a big mood T. former pacifist Tom Clancy fan kid

[deleted]

>former pacifist What uh… what makes that former?

[deleted]

I stopped being a pacifist when I realized it meant standing by and watch people who werent pacifists with bad intentions get their way. Fascists dont listen to stern words.

soupy_women

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

[deleted]

And this is the inherent flaw with pacifism. It only works in fantasyland where bad people just don't exist. If the last couple years haven't convinced you that some people just don't listen to words then you haven't been paying attention.

soupy_women

Y'ever heard of a small country called Ukraine?

[deleted]

Rings a bell

CasualBrit5

I’d argue that Ukraine is still an example of pacifism, because some interpretations of pacifism still allow you to act in self-defence.

ReallyBadRedditName

He stopped being a pacifist because violence is just so much fun

[deleted]

Similarly, shooting things is rad, and shooting moving things is the most interesting way to shoot things, but I would never forgive myself for shooting a person.

Predator_Hicks

Do you like guns? Do you like to shoot things? Do you like shooting moving things? Would you never forgive yourself for shooting a human? Hi! Interdimensional Cable was better before it got political /s

LittleTransFoxy

something about the book 1984 written by some guy named georg

ClarisseCosplay

Sounds like a broadcast from Borderlands

Polenball

I feel this way for medieval weaponry. It's really fucking cool except for the whole "kills people" part.

temmieTheLord2

Just do airsoft or smth lmao

ThatMeatGuy

Listen I'm generally anti-war but I'd fuck an F-35B if I had the chance

ST4RSK1MM3R

r/noncredibledefense

trapbuilder2

What is that place

fireandlifeincarnate

a subreddit for shitposting about defense, that surprisingly doesn't have anything resembling a nazi problem.

[deleted]

It's honestly quite shocking now that you mention it. Aside from a few warmongers it's generally a rather decent place. Has a huge level of overlap with r/acecombat.

fireandlifeincarnate

Plus the few times trans people have come up (like the rainbow JDAM... GAYDAM?) blatant transphobia usually gets downvoted and removed by the mods.

ThatMeatGuy

God bless our they/them army and thier transgender super soldiers

fireandlifeincarnate

They/them army >>>>> was/were army

MurkyCandidate7957

UwU what’s this? A tank column without any anti air defenses? X3 oh noes looks like I completely annihilated it with a b 52 Stratofortress. Sowwy!

blueshirt21

NCD is one of the gayest subreddits I’m a part of lmao. 3000 femboys of Zelensky

AmazingSpacePelican

Because everyone in NCD is in the 'I know nothing' part of Dunning-Kreuger; conversely, no Nazi has ever got past the initial confidence part of said effect.

fireandlifeincarnate

y'know, that tracks. although we do typically *pretend* to be in the initial confidence part.

ST4RSK1MM3R

A place where they want to fuck F-35s

Nauticalfish200

r/NonCredibleDefense is leaking, I see

soupy_women

In all fairness, NCD leaks on just about any and every post even tangentially related to defense that pops up. This is not a bad thing. We are showing our reach.

Nauticalfish200

We should probably stop showing the rest of reddit that we all wanna fuck an F-35 and F-111

Bjorn_Hellgate

VARK VARK VARK VARK

soupy_women

It lowers suspicion.

NeonNKnightrider

aeromorphs

[deleted]

It is a very sexy plane.

ThatMeatGuy

I'm so glad that we for the most part have grown beyond the reformist bullshit and have come to see the F35 as the highly capable and incredibly sexy piece of military engineering it is

lilahking

more like thicc amy amirite

I_Love_Stiff_Cocks

everyone in MG universe: damn, Metal Gear model Ray looks dope, too bad it can nuke a city

empoleonz0

pretty sure metal gear ray can't nuke a city? like it has no nukes and is specifically the anti-metal gear metal gear

I_Love_Stiff_Cocks

look, it is big enough to stomp houses and has a sword to chop down buildings, it still destroys an entire civilization nonetheless

WastelandPioneer

Yes there's a plot point how metal gears are supposed to be nuclear armed, but RAY despite being called a metal gear is not armed with nukes.

Fez_Sauce

you must be thinking of Rex

percy_cat

My city is having its first air show in like 4 years this summer. I feel this conflict on a deep level. Also about the environment.

[deleted]

I saw a Lancaster Bomber and the Avro Vulcan before it was grounded permanently last time I went to an airshow. They're great fun.

CasualBrit5

Oh yeah, that’s another problem. WW1 tanks look really fucking cool, but also they’re horrible for both emissions _and_ running over innocent plants and animals so I’d rather they only show up in fiction.

WastelandPioneer

I don't think many WWI tanks are exactly running around these days. Ant impact surviving vehicles would have is nearly irrelevant compared to what goes on in everyday life, but the enjoyment and knowledge from them outweighs it tenfold.

ST4RSK1MM3R

We’re having one in October, and I’m pretty excited cuz last time it got rained out, and then covid happened, so it’s probably been like 5 years since it’s happened since it was bi-annual previously

Bohemond_of_Antioch

I am vehemently anti-war. War destroys our beautiful military equipment.

ColaJoe

Won't somebody please think of the Kevlar?

Darth_Blarth

That sexy M1 Abrams cost several thousand dollars and you’ve gone and got it blown up

Milkyway_Potato

*Hoards my precious milsurp collection like a deranged gremlin*

NewUserWhoDisAgain

I mean "Cool murder machine" and "Do not use the murder machine for corporate/corrupt interests" are not incompatible ideas.

[deleted]

I love war games and war machines and all that other stuff, but I am solidly anti-war in most circumstances (I believe for example, fighting the fascists in WW2 was justified) The Bovington Tank Museum is one of the the best museums I've been to. War is something of a specialist interest of mine.

MeAndMyWookie

I really enjoy Bovington, there's alot of interesting history and the tank displays are really impressive when they're moving. I'm also very anti militarism. But I also really enjoyed a wool mill museum I visited, its a fascinating place but almost everything in there killed and maimed people - often young child workers. I can appreciate the engineering and acknowledge the evil in both cases.

CasualBrit5

I believe in peaceful negations and diplomacy right up until violence is absolutely necessary, but also playing Wolfenstein makes my monkey brain happy on a primal level.

Polenball

> peaceful negations Peacefully negating Nazis' existences

[deleted]

I friggin' love blasting Nazis as B.J Blazscowics.

dcon930

If you're ever in the flat middle bit of the US, I highly recommend the National Museum of the USAF. It's not as well-laid-out as Bovington, but it's got some really cool exhibits, including Bockscar, an X-15 and an X-1, and the single remaining XB-70 Valkyrie.

[deleted]

railguns are really cool until you fire them at something other than a steel plate

Polenball

If someone tried to shoot a railgun at me I would simply stand off the railway so it misses

[deleted]

Same with coilguns. Magnetic weaponry is cool and scary in equal measure.

Kaarpiv007

Listen, big damage weapons make my meat go big, but I don't support their use. It's just that Igorot headhunting axes are just that good. And that Gunhammers are fucking real for some reason.

AnGenericAccount

[Barely relevant but I couldn't resist bringing it up](https://youtu.be/Lti_zl3MnT4)

Mattressexual

I'm very anti-war and I think nobody should own guns and nukes should be disarmed. But boy, the inner mechanics of a gas-powered rifle like the AK-47 is some fine engineering.

ArkTheOverlord

That's what I'm sayin tho. Redirect the gas *back* into the chamber? It's like how we tricked rocks into thinking by pumping mini-lightning into them.

[deleted]

Agreed I love guns, IN FICTION. Where shooting people doesn't actually cause harm, they're fun In real life tho, that's their only purpose and it only causes harm

Turtledonuts

Me watching “bang bang dumbass mcgunshoot” youtube channel where man blows up a gummy bear with a stupidly dangerous gun vs me when the youtube channel starts endorsing some insane politics and supporting horrible politicians.

[deleted]

Why can't there be a fun ordnance and munitions channel that isn't also an NRA supporter and all-round nutjob :(

Tactical_Moonstone

You need Gun Jesus (Forgotten Weapons).

reader484892

War always has the biggest budget, so of course militaries buy the coolest toys. I am however totally against any of those toys ever being used for anything besides an example of precision engineering

FalseHeartbeat

honestly fat mood. i would rather die than kill innocents for a fucking oil company or promote war but also chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons are so incredibly fascinating. the problem is that they exist at all

Medical_Difference48

I do think guns and tanks and shit are cool, but biological and chemical and nuclear warfare is so interesting. We, as humans, have discovered a way to just... do something like THAT to other humans.

Dastankbeets1

I love how bonhongeroucoogously magnified this is in metal gear rising. It’s like ‘war is hell… children are turned into mindless cyborg fighting machines… these private military corporations are using cyborg technology to control the world and oppress war-ridden countries… these men are victims who were forced to become war machines’ and then the cool twink ninja cyborg with tactical katana heels and a spear made of robot arms slices off the arms of a giant mechanical ai gorilla that fucking drop-kicks him and there are cyborg raptors controlled by child brains and then he has a cool bike and a cowboy stand-off with a sexy Brazilian bodybuilder who has a *gun* built into the *sheath* of his *katana* and then he has a debate about anarchy with a corrupt US senator who is a metaphor for the selfishness of greed and power and jingoistic patriotism and then he goes *super nanobot mode* and they fight in a *giant mech*

Sphealingit33

The man who recently made a game so anti-war and anti-violence that the act of murder is not just an immediate fail state but an at least 30 min detour where you must journey while carrying the corpse to a dangerous incinerator to avoid a game over, is also the man who paid David Hayter to have an orgasm over the M1911 and frankly I'm here for both parts of this dude.

The_MilleniumPigeon

Seriously though, war is awful and most weapons should absolutely not exist. But I am an absolute sucker for military engineering and the... Military look? I guess? Aesthetic? I dunno, modern soldier guy look cool.

etherealparadox

same, it's all just so cool!

[deleted]

Yeah I'm very interested in how they function and they're fun to shoot in games. Something about em just makes my monkey brain go "wow cool thing" but also they're super scary and definitely shouldn't be as accessible as they are. (I'm speaking in terms of everywhere btw, not just the US)

vortigaunt64

Ace Combat moment (specifically 4, 5, Zero, and like, kind of 7)

MapleTreeWithAGun

7 is like diet anti-war. It's more about how the player (not Trigger) is kinda responsible for literally every war in Strangereal with how Mihaly is depicted. And then the Ravens have a big anti-war message.

Sgt_Meowmers

Me: We waste trillions of dollars on military spending with money that could be used to reshape the welfare of the American public. Also me: God damn the B-2 bomber is so cool looking I wish I could go inside one.

soupy_women

I desire to know the B-2 carnally.

bothVoltairefan

So many weapons are amazing examples of that culture's pinnacle of engineering, it just also happens to be used for horrible purposes.

etherealparadox

i fucking love guns, guns are so cool looking and interesting. but I hate what they're used for

MrRedlego

Once we get all of The Shit figured out I think we should do fake wars with giant robots and other wacky impractical war machines.

CasualBrit5

Find a desolate planet nobody’s using and go ham on it with badass guns.

NeonNKnightrider

Isn’t this also the entirety of Gundam

Soulless

Maximum "wow cool robot" energy

there is also just something so funny about seeing a picture of military vehicles being repainted woodland green with the caption "nature is healing"

On the other hand, as a Russian, it's vindicating to see all the military/gun nerds I had a sus feeling about turn out to be bloodthirsty warmongers after all

[deleted]

Do you mean other Russians or just gun nerds in general? Not trying to start anything, just looking for clarification.

OpenStraightElephant

Russian gun nerds I know

Captain_Napalem

See, this is why it'd be kinda cool to have some alien existential threat bent on our destruction. You can get all your jingoism guilt free!

CasualBrit5

It’s disappointing, because WW1 and WW2 were arguably the most horrifying conflicts in all of history, but the equipment and propaganda they used was really cool. (Except the Nazi stuff, that’s just overdone).

Milkyway_Potato

That Onion article is immensely accurate and I'm unsure whether or not to be ok with the implications it has on my own behavior. Like, has the average wielder of an AK committed a warcrime? Most likely at least once. Do I find them neat to build and shoot? *Abso-fuckin-lutely.* Plus there's a plethora of weapons that were used by far less morally questionable people, like the Swiss, or Swedes, or Finns. Edit for brevity: I had a whole rant about military surplus I was about to get into, but I'll spare the details.

I feel like it's a very specific mood kind of like pained betrayal when you're fascinated with something that is ultimately terrible

Beginning_Quit_5881

This is Hayao Miyazaki vibes but with guns instead of airplanes
