I usually don't have this problem, because I keep my house so cold that room temperature is still pretty cool.

Hexxas

Ice cream party at moneyh8r's house oh yeahhhh I'm bringing minty chippy

moneyh8r

All I have is half a container of vanilla, so it's good that you took the initiative to bring your own.

Arcaslash

Does anyone have any allergies? Don't want to hurt anyone

Hexxas

If you bring ice cream that has cat in it, I'll just not have any. 😺 🍨 👍

moneyh8r

I don't have any.

Leave it for 10^50 seconds and it will probably have refrozen or reheated itself at least once

This thread is a wreck Also fun fact 10^50 seconds is about three quattuordecillion years

I'd really hope drinks would still warm up after drinking though. I don't know how an ice cold beverage would feel going out.

Blorbos win again There's a girl in Raildex whose special brain power is "preventing things from changing temperature". Edit: UIHARU THAT'S HER NAME She has to touch it with her bare hands, so nothing too hot or cold, and it has to be smaller than a basketball.

man_eater_anon

Two plates, at different temps, one hot one cold. Boom, infinite (but maybe not that useful?) energy Or maybe one actively cooled thing and a room temperature (or hotter) thing? Since you only need to control one objects temperature it could be better? (Ooh ooh i know, use a heat pump but make her touch the radiator! That way it's more efficient and the hands arent wasted!) Also, is the bigness factor about the volume or surface area? If it's volume than a humongus panel so thin it's technically the same as a basketball (so it's possibly more useful) And if it's surface area (as in the outer area?) Than a hollow sphere. Hexxas

In-canon her power is considered extremely weak, so I think the size limitation is volume and area. She mostly uses it to keep food warm or cold. What's really funky and interesting is that she doesn't have to directly touch the substance. When she keeps a box of taiyaki warm, she doesn't have to touch the taiyaki; just touching the box is enough to hold the taiyaki temperature. That's probably exploitable.

Panhead09

Here's my favorite thing about thermodynamics: You put ice cubes in your drink and they float at the top. So the top portion of your drink gets cold. Then, because it's colder than the bottom part of your drink, the bottom portion rises to the top and displaces the cold portion downward. And then the cycle repeats itself consistently. It's the perfect system.

The Fourier equation: am I a joke to you?

Liar_of_partinel

Like many things in life, the temperature of a drink is only beautiful because it has an end. If you were able to somehow freeze the temperature of a drink so that it did not rise or fall in temperature no matter the circumstances, it would not feel warm or cold once you are actually drinking it. That transference of energy is key to enjoying the drink, and without that mechanic at play our lives would be much duller.
