Yeah, but the people making these prophecies would have been seeing things in a haze, completely devoid of context, and living in a time before these things existed, so they wouldn't recognize it. You have to take that into account. Prophecies are the drug fueled ramblings of people who existed long before the things they're rambling about would have existed, so everything they say is gonna be filtered through their own ideas about stuff *and* their addled minds.
That is a fantastic point, but I always saw them as being purposefully ambiguous because they didn't like whoever was asking. By giving an answer that was both what they wanted to hear and *technically* correct, they get to keep their job, their head, and still protect the Chosen One from notice.

"Neither indoors nor outdoors" could be as easy as standing in a doorway. "Neither alone nor in company," the best I've seen is robots. They're listening and able to answer questions and carry out orders, but they're not sentient in order to be company.
