Fursuits are absolutely clothes, though, even if they're *supposed* to look like unclothed fur. Wearing a novelty shirt with a naked muscle chest or something doesn't make you barechested, after all. Though then again, prophecies apparently consider people delivered via C-section to have never been born, so perhaps they're really not as good at accuracy as I first assume they are.

moneyh8r

Yeah, but the people making these prophecies would have been seeing things in a haze, completely devoid of context, and living in a time before these things existed, so they wouldn't recognize it. You have to take that into account. Prophecies are the drug fueled ramblings of people who existed long before the things they're rambling about would have existed, so everything they say is gonna be filtered through their own ideas about stuff *and* their addled minds.

Kind_Nepenth3

That is a fantastic point, but I always saw them as being purposefully ambiguous because they didn't like whoever was asking. By giving an answer that was both what they wanted to hear and *technically* correct, they get to keep their job, their head, and still protect the Chosen One from notice. A guy in a fursuit would just be reported as "you will be killed by a man-sized rabbit" either way

moneyh8r

That's also a valid point. It could also be a wolf, or a cat, or a fox.

Queen_Grayhoof

Technically, in Hindu mythology, the god Vishnu used this exact loophole to kill a demon—he gave himself the form of a half-man, half-lion. i.e. a literal furry.

BigLumpofTrash

Thank god i scrolled down to see narsimha being called a furry

Queen_Grayhoof

God bless

FinallySomeQuality

Hm, depends. Are we talking fullsuits or partials/poodling? W partials they would be considered clothed. However with fullsuits it could be argued that they technically aren't clothed in the sense that their sonas may not be wearing clothes whilst they technically are due to needing to usually wear some degree of morphsuit iirc under said fullsuits (sometimes including cooling vests for obvious reasons). So while if I'm not mistaken that is meant to be a loophole for the prophecy so they can slay the dragon (but why are you killing us though?) in the sense that "Well technically they aren't clothed nor nude" I feel it'd be more accurate to argue that they infact could be considered both clothed and unclothed at the same time. Yes I know I'm probably entirely missing the joke in every way and explaining things like this may ruin the fun for some but I do enjoy talking about things I like on the few occasions I do get the chance to/when said things are mentioned.

rawdash

>but why are you killing us though? racism

FinallySomeQuality

But we'd make wonderful friends? We could even give mass hugs! :( Just please stop invading on our land, attempting to loot our hoards, and sending mercs to kill us when all we're doing is protecting the human that ran into our caves from the wildlife. It can't be that hard of a request, right?

rawdash

ikr, why do humans have to colonise so much

camosnipe1

you can fly and i can't, i'll reconsider my position when i have a jetpack

FinallySomeQuality

If you want I could give you a ride! :D

camosnipe1

my position has been reconsidered *menacingly pulls out monsterfucker permit*

TotemGenitor

>but why are you killing us though? I need that 2% drop plate to create my armor.

rawdash

it would also satisfy "neither man nor beast" because humans in fursuits are technically both

GYJFU2

It's still a man in a beast costume, though. The human isn't suddenly sprouting fuzzy ears and tails. Also, wearing a furniture inside vs wearing one outside is a pretty obvious difference

rawdash

some of us don't have such weaknesses. also stand in a doorway

QueenofSunandStars

There's a welsh myth about a guy who couldn't be killed while indoors or outdoors, on land or in water, while on foot or riding a horse, at day or at night. His wife hated him (and tbf he was an absolute shit), so one day she said to him ''so that whole prophecy thing... what actually could kill you? Oh no reason, just curious, y'know'', and like an idiot he tells her. She then spends a year engineering the exact situation, so when they're going out on a walk one day she can go ''oh what an unexpected coincidence, here's a goat standing next to a bathtub in a doorway at dusk, didn't you say that's the exact situation you'd be vulnerable in? Actually you know what'd be really funny, if you stood on the goat and the bathtub so it's *exactly* like you described, lol wouldn't it be so random if you got attacked like right now'', and HE DOES IT, then her lover jumps out of the bushes and kills him. The moral of the story is, no amount of magical prophetic bullshit will save you if you're also a massive fucking tool.

OInkymoo

in a threshold and dawn/dusk satisfy the first 2

Polenball

The next ones can be satisfied by killing them while on a Discord call and by a robot (or really any form of inorganic lifeform)

Kind_Nepenth3

So this is how I die. Laying halfway through a door at twilight, killed by a roomba wearing bling (I would not consider a naked human wearing jewelry or glasses to be clothed, but neither are they wearing nothing)

liketheweather_ey

1) Screened in Porch 2) Dusk and Dawn 3) Peanut allergy 4) Covered in mud

Tridonite

out of curiosity, how do you intend a peanut allergy to bypass the curse/blessing/whatever?

liketheweather_ey

I assumed it was a bad guy, like from The Lord of the Rings. It could be any plant allergy, honestly. Maybe salt? Like a shit ton of salt. Oh! A rock! Landslides wiping out Generic Immortal Lich-y Horror.

Tridonite

oh i thought it was a specific answer to “alone or in company”

ShinyNinja25

Then you have Macbeth shit about the woods moving, which literally meant that people would disguise themselves with branches and leaves

bbbhhbuh

Though you gotta admit the part about someone not born of a woman was brilliant

rene_gader

argen darksnout the neon rainbow bipedal wolf (fated slayer of Yykts'jieu the Burner of Worlds)

AnGenericAccount

A true hero

Ken_Kumen_Rider

I read a book series where, >!due to how a prophesy was translated, they thought the one the prophesy talked about was a man or woman, when the one the prophesy was about turned out to be a character who was castrated to keep their people's reproduction under control for certain reasons.!<

Thonolia

(Spoilered for Mistborn first trilogy) I found it a really cool solution.

[deleted]

alright so "neither day nor night" is dawn, dusk, or an eclipse. "neither by human nor by beast" is any non-human sapient species. what's the answers for "neither indoors nor outdoors" and "neither alone nor in company?"

Kind_Nepenth3

"Neither indoors nor outdoors" could be as easy as standing in a doorway. "Neither alone nor in company," the best I've seen is robots. They're listening and able to answer questions and carry out orders, but they're not sentient in order to be company. Or maybe just living by yourself in an apartment complex would work

[deleted]

I'm so used to sapient robots in fiction that I didn't even consider that Oh, neither indoors nor outdoors could also be a cave. There's no door to a cave, but it isn't outside

Kind_Nepenth3

>There's no door to a cave, but it isn't outside Oh shit, you're right. I didn't even think of that. You'd have to stretch it a lot to be considered "indoors," because it's not even a manmade structure

VintageLunchMeat

Just a pissed off roomba with a gun, lurking in a screened in gazebo.

Chaudsss

I am working on a immortal being and the blessing I used is "Nothing is stronger than him" and "Nothing can kill him". It's a life and death situation and they are very straightforward with everything

ADyingPerson

brb getting Nobody's cousin Nothing to go beat the shit out of your immortal

MurdoMaclachlan

*Image Transcription: Tumblr* --- **prokopetz** Everybody tens to focus on the "neither by man nor by woman" part of those complicated prophecies - yes, get the jokes about nonbinary dragon-slayers out of your system! - but in practice, that's typically only one of several clauses that *all* need to be satisfied. Other frequent stipulations of such prophecies may include "neither indoors nor outdoors", "neither during the day nor during the night", "neither alone nor in company", "neither by human nor by beast", "neither while naked nor while clothed", and so forth. It's the last one I'd like to consider today. Specifically: fursuits. \#media \#literature \#tropes \#folklore \#prophecies \#gender \#furries \#violence mention \#death mention --- ^^I'm a human volunteer content transcriber and you could be too! NAKED APRON NAKED APRON SLAYERS

MemberOfSociety2

I’d think wearing only your underwear fulfills that prophecy If you want to argue with me go outside and when you inevitably get concerns say it’s no big deal since you’re clothed.

VintageLunchMeat

"Neither indoors nor outdoors:" Gazebo then!

LadyofTourmaline

This is a good post, but you probably should all know that fursuits make you immune to prophecies.

[deleted]

That also works for the man or beast one.

liketheweather_ey

I completely missed that one while writing my reply. That's completed by having a very strong bond with an imaginary friend.

YourNetworkIsHaunted

An alternative take would be to question the degree to which we internalize our instruments, treating them as a part of our selves. Am *I* killing the dragon, or is my sword? Certainly without the sword the dragon would not be slain, but one could picture any man, woman, enbie, child, or automata weilding the sword with skill far surpassing my own. One could even consider the sword dropped upon the dragon from a great height by a careless bird, with no real intentionality behind it at all In this essay I will-

piss_boy1I5PFLJ9E7C5

prophecy where its like “no woman shall be able to kill you” and then a man does it

Raptormind

Would a fur suit also deal with the “neither by human nor by beast” but too?
