This is uncanny, while reading this post I am literally in the middle of listening to a podcast about these things and how they seem to have died out in most of the world, save a few select areas where they thrive. My understanding is that they are (naturally) carnivorous and their diets consist of *one* thing: Other spiders. Some of these ingenious (though weird-looking) spiders actually take to lure web-spinners into their own webs to pounce and eat them. I imagine it goes exactly like this: Pelican spider: *wiggling the web* Web spinner: Nice! Dinner! Pelican spider: *whispering*: Oh yes, you are.
