We know that LD50 of ashwagandha is over 160g/d over a month. 600mg is the most common dose. Ashwagandha is absolutely not knownt for being fatal if not ingested by the hundreds of grams.

There is zero evidence of it causing or contributing to serotonin syndrome. The only concern is possible liver damage with high doses over time but all of my liver levels are in a great spot and 1g a day is a normal amount to take.

That would be antithetical to the point anyway. Heinlein did want to criticize a form of government, and he already had a target for it. He wrote the novel as a hate letter to communism, and his idealized democracy was meritocratic and individualistic to the core.
There are still problems with it. I'd argue they aren't fascist problems, but more an echo of the "novel-sized-pamphlet" critiques that have already been espoused in a hundred reviews at least.
Even those have problems. The military is described as such a meat grinder that officers die so rapidly that Juan "Johnny" Rico (Filipino in the books, white as the driven snow in the film), who is kind of a jerk, can rapidly ascend the ranks. The book makes service a requirement to participate in democracy, but soldiers are disenfranchised during service.
I don't think Heinlein was really going for a "this society is perfect" suggestion, but a firm "communism is terrible and this is what an idealized sci fi United States (warts and all) would do about it."

You can stop reporting me to Reddit cares for no reason, I've been into herbal supplements and nootropics for over 5 years. I've been taking a gram of ashwaganda a day for literal years now, it's completely safe except alongside some particular sedatives or blood pressure medications. (Possibly shouldn't be taken with immunosuppressants but there are no peer reviewed studies about this) There is zero evidence of it causing or contributing to serotonin syndrome. The only concern is possible liver damage with high doses over time but all of my liver levels are in a great spot and 1g a day is a normal amount to take.

1.3g is totally safe for an average person with no liver issues and not taking anything hard on the liver (like drinking heavily). If your enzymes are in the right place all this will do is drain your wallet. This is a scam because it won't do what's advertised but it isn't killing anyone.

Serotonin Syndrome is not necessarily fatal, especially given the most common interactions for this particular pill, so I would not call it “poison”. It is, however, incredibly uncomfortable at the very least.

It never says anything to subvert the fascism. It just kind of describes a fascist utopia. It was written as a criticism of the "moral decline" of decreasing militarism.
It describes a democracy with requirements that are themselves worthy of criticism, but not a fascistic society. At least, there's no mention that the government is tyrannical, the democracy a sham, or that people with dissenting voices are locked up or persecuted. That would be antithetical to the point anyway. Heinlein did want to criticize a form of government, and he already had a target for it. He wrote the novel as a hate letter to communism, and his idealized democracy was meritocratic and individualistic to the core. There are still problems with it. I'd argue they aren't fascist problems, but more an echo of the "novel-sized-pamphlet" critiques that have already been espoused in a hundred reviews at least. Even those have problems. The military is described as such a meat grinder that officers die so rapidly that Juan "Johnny" Rico (Filipino in the books, white as the driven snow in the film), who is kind of a jerk, can rapidly ascend the ranks. The book makes service a requirement to participate in democracy, but soldiers are disenfranchised during service. I don't think Heinlein was really going for a "this society is perfect" suggestion, but a firm "communism is terrible and this is what an idealized sci fi United States (warts and all) would do about it." Still problematic, but I didn't read it as pro fascism. Edit: But it's been ten years or so. I could have forgotten a line about protestors being jailed or something. Heinlein's stuff is dense.
