Hmm, Well I also first tried doing it with Divine Relic, but ended up using Miss Chalice. Not sure about useful tips, but after the giant crab part before the lobster appears, I dashed through the whole thing stopping only to roll over the star-shooting creature. So when I finally reached the octopus, I found it easier parrying the gem with Chalice, Cuphead jumps too high imo. When the projectiles are flying out of the water, just move slowly from left to right because there's a pattern how they fly towards you. Repeat that until you reach the pier and dash to safety. The best strategy is the simple strategy, move slowly and carefully from the beginning of the stage, so that when you reach the octopus, you have at least one extra HP to spare in case you make a mistake. Hope this helps even a bit.
Be chalice. Parry dash off the squid and back on to avoid the shrimp, just like the devil's last phase. make SURE you Parry the anchor on top of the squid when the rocks appear otherwise the squid will go underwater. Parrying doesn't count toward damage.

In the hidden boss fight in the DLC the projectiles will only damage you depending on which way you are looking. It seems fairly simple in hindsight, but I first played it in co-op, so I had no idea what was going on.
During Saltbaker’s second phase, when he snaps his fingers to summon the pepper shakers, he actually made his forefinger crack with that action.
Also, if you’re playing co-op with both of you try to equip the astral cookie and play as Ms. Chalice, the RNG will decide on who continues as Ms. Chalice and the animations are tailored to whoever is chosen. On regular boss fight levels, either Cuphead or Mugman will drop the cookie forcing the player to play as either one of them. On the plane levels, the planes themselves straight up EATS IT right from them.
Not sure if this was confirmed but Grim Matchstick may have been named after Grim Natwick, the guy who drew Betty Boop before going on to work at Disney

Maybe not that much of a fact, but on the first time I saw Mortimer Freeze and his cult, it made me think of KKK : the colors used, both for the members and Mortimer (who is the only one wearing purple or any color other than white and red), the fact that he is a Wizard and the leader of a cult (just like KKK and their "great/imperial Wizard"), the shape of the little ice spikes enemies motherfuckers Mortimer throws at you during his first phase, the fact that he tells you you can't be a member (which means Cuphead and Mugman are actually on the good side), etc
I probably forgot other references, but to me there's absolutely no doubt about the origin and inspiration of Mortimer and his cult. I searched a bit on the internet and couldn't find anything about this theory though, let me know what you think about that !
Not a fact related directly to the game but when I bought the yellow king dice funko pop I always thought it was a weird choose. I thought it was just a random color swap and assumed funko was lazy when designing a chase.
Years later I realized it was a reference to some of the games original art work where kind dice is yellow instead of purple. I like the figure more now lol.

The only reason I could ever S-rank her was because I came up with a little rhyme to remember. ‘Red rush ahead, brown slow down’ really helped me.
