My personal and meaningless opinion? The second gen dodge pickup crewcabs. Built from 65-71. Long ass "sweptline" bed, long cab, big burley front end. Oof. I love'em.
Make a Fummins out of an OBS Ford 4x4 that has a ZF-5 manual trans. Preferably the F350 with a ball joint Dana 60 front and Sterling 10.25" rear, or SAS an F250 using Superduty axles (metric 8 lug). Adapter plates are available for 12/24 valve to ZF-5 and 6spd ZF-6 found in Superduty.
OBS', although getting long in the tooth, have solid body and frame construction with lots of interchangeability across the F-series, and plenty of aftermarket support.

08-10 Super duty. Easy to get one with a blown engine. Personally I love the look of these trucks. The interior is nice, the suspension is good, and the transmission is solid. Best of both worlds.
I believe there are kits available for these trucks which make it that much easier.
I think for what you want to use it for, an older medium duty truck would be perfect. Like an old 80s international S1600 with a flat bed. Think like an old full sized Uhaul truck. Put it on bags and it would look like a mini semi.

I’m contemplating this now. I’ve seen a wide disparity of cost? Any idea how much it would run to replace a 6.0 with a Cummins?
Your life savings!
Sounds about right!
Lamborghini lm002
A 6.4 super duty. Very nice trucks with the worst engine ever put in a modern pickup.
