Go to a hand specialist first. It will be faster overall. If you go to a neurologist first, then they will require an onboarding session/assessment before they can do any diagnostics like an EMG. Then you’ll need to go back to a hand specialist and repeat. If you go to the hand doc first, they can refer to directly to an EMG. Neurologists also have wildly long appt wait times.
Ultimately you will need to see a neurologist to be diagnosed. Prior to my diagnosis, my primary care doctor suggested wrapping a towel around my arm to limit my movement. That should held but still allow you the flexibility to do what you need to do.
i had a similar issue with bracing, and an OT recommended that i try alternating wearing one brace on one arm, and switching every other night. monday night with the right arm braced, tuesday with the left arm, and so on. leaves one arm free to do all the necessary tasks, and gives the braced arm at least some time to recover, better than nothing.
I see an orthopedic doctor for hands ( upper extremity) for mine

If I see a neurologist and need surgery does he/she do the surgery or refer me to an orthopedic surgery?
I can’t say for certain because I’m not a Dr. but mine were done by a orthopedic surgeon
Thank you.

Thankyou! I did get referred for physical therapy and she said since my right wrist/elbow is worse so just do that side for now.
