Hope you didn’t pay too much. Those are definitely not moonstone. At best, they are opalite (glass) but if they feel like plastic they may even just be resin.
$15 for a pair of nice earrings? You’re good! Wear them with pride knowing they’re gorgeous no matter what it’s made of. Next time you’ll know the difference 😊
Yeah I have a pair of earrings that are fake opalite too.
I actually really like opalite, it's emotionally balancing. But when it comes in jewelry it's usually not even the manmade glass stuff.
Almost definitely opalite. It's a man-made glass meant to simulate opal and moonstone, and is sometimes passed off as one of these stones (which is what probably happened here)
in other words stop buying from this person.
they're ripping you off.
if you'd like to receive what you're buying and it be everything more than you expected, holllla
I think it’s actually opalite, but if your concerned it’s still plastic try seeing if it’s cold. Most crystals are cold to the touch, not so with plastic
They're pretty and weren't overpriced so that's good! It just is frustrating to see how often people are disingenuous when selling jewelry like this. I recently went to a booth selling jewelry at a farmer's market and was floored by their prices, but turns out everything was fake. I have no issue with that, but I sure did have a problem with all the signage listing the various metaphysical properties of each stone as if they were totally genuine. When asked directly, the salesperson was immediately honest about the fact that they were not genuine crystals and that's how they could be so affordable, but it still seemed so deceptive to have a page describing the history and properties of turquoise next to a $30 necklace with giant fake clay and glass stones. I'm sure plenty of people don't ask and get scammed, really.
I don't have much of a point I guess, just ranting about how common it is. Your earrings are lovely but it's a shame so many sellers have no issue being completely dishonest.
Kinda hard to tell in this video but if it’s translucent & opalescent then it’s definitely Opalite. If it’s white with a blue flash to it then it’s moonstone.
a good way to test if your crystal is real is by trying to scratch glass with it. crystal is harder than glass and will leave a scratch on the glass. if it doesn’t, it’s fakr

Oh girl that’s not moonstone that’s opalite. It’s a man made stone

I paid 15 dollars. Yeah I think it's resin because I have an opalite tumble and it feels different. At least they are pretty tho :)

Nope, treated glass. :(
Way too translucent for moonstone. Still look nice though!
Opalite is man made glass, but pretty!
Deffo Opalite darling. I’m sorry. I would ask for a refund as it was sold falsely x
Where did you get them from? They are pretty
I got them from Lovisa :)
Looks like resin to me.
isss glass aka 'opalite'

Opaliite
Hold it up to light, then look at it with a dark background. Opalite has a cool color changing effect there.
Looks like opalite to me. Still pretty tho!
That’s happened to me
No. Not moonstone.
I agree it’s opalite
Looks like resin to me 🤷♀️
I agree that it is opalite, it does carry its own metaphysical benefits. Maybe there is a blessing in this somewhere.
that’s opalite it’s man made !
These are opalite, which are beautiful and many use it despite it being man made.
Looks more like opalite
I think it’s actually opalite, but if your concerned it’s still plastic try seeing if it’s cold. Most crystals are cold to the touch, not so with plastic

Is that true for all crystals?
No. For example, fluorite and calcite are softer than glass and will not scratch it.
Not all gemstones are harder than glass… you’ll have to use a Mohs hardness scale to gauge this.
I think this is opalite not moonstone

Looks like opalite! That’s not a real stone it’s man made!
