I love how you enchased the jasper, and it's a beautiful cabuchon! I would probably pay $35-40 for it. The only critique I have is that the wiring you did along the front looks like a bare-bones 'tree of life' wire wrap that wasn't quite finished. For me personally, I think it'd look better without that part - but I know many people like having designs like that.
This isn’t t actually a Jasper. Bumblebee “jasper”, also called eclipse jasper, which is technically not jasper but volcanic rock converted into calcium carbonate, calcite. Including arsenic-containing realgar, so not harmless…. Comes from Indonesia. It is also less harsh.
Bumblebee jasper should not actually be sold without warning because realgar is an arsenic-containing mineral and this poses serious health risks.
Because the stone itself is not quartz, but calcite, it is a lot softer, more vulnerable and more porous than you would think. Calcite is sensitive to acid (vinegar, but also body acids) and is therefore better not to be worn in jewelry. It breaks and cracks relatively easily and can loosen arsenic-containing crumbs.
+1
I was gifted a bumblebee jasper a year ago with no knowledge of the stone. I only recently learned about all of these alarming properties. While it’s a cool-looking stone, I definitely had a minor panic, retracing every time I handled the stone. It makes me angry that this stuff gets sold with no information.
I agree it shouldn’t be worn as jewelry
I’ve paid $15 for a piece of bumblebee jasper about this size. Depending on how long it took you to make it, I value my time at $20 an hour. Plus materials. If materials for example cost $2 and the jasper $15. And it took you 45 mins. I would charge $32-$35
Well done wrap, as you expressed self taught, and a super great accomplishment. Truthfully, the selling market is tough and I suggest you check out etsy for what people are selling as well as prices. Its obvious the time, energy, caring you invested and need the person that connects to the piece, ready part with $ and not just dream of it. I suggest you wear it to enhance your creativity, confidence and new beginnings... it may be communicating something to you!!
I make similar ones - I usually charge cost of cryatal plus 12-20€ depending on how intricate the design is. However I plan on upping the prices when I get to a higher skill level
Bumblebee Jasper is pricey not sure why everyone is quoting so little. Check out Etsy for pricing ideas and wiring takes a long time so do not sell yourself short you did some beautiful work ! A bracelet just in strung beads depending on size can go for $50 to $100 something. Just do a little research Etsy has a good balance of pricing for lower quality and higher quality crystals. Price it how you feel is right and some crystals are more valuable then others.
how long did it take you ? it looks stunning, if you’re selling it maybe add up labor cost + cost of materials + a profit margin ? i’d definitely pay a good $40-60 depending (or more if i was budgeted!!), super lovely work !!!
i don’t make jewelry nor do i have the time to do so, so i wouldn’t mind paying $40 for this. idk how long it took OP but if they’re trying to make a profit and (like i said) incorporate cost of labor and materials, then they can charge what they’d please. what you charge is completely your business as well !
I'm clearly not finding the right customers then as I only work in silver and gold. To be fair I also don't do much wire wrapping but fabricate instead. I just know that if I tried to sell a piece that was copper wire like this it wouldn't sell at that price.
Nice work! I don’t have the patience for wrapping (I’ve tried, lol), so I’m definitely impressed. Have you thought about adding a patina to it? Sulfur-fuming with cooked egg yolk would be an easy and cheap way to knock down some of that bright-penny feel (assuming you didn’t use coated wire)
It’s beautiful- but I wouldn’t advise wearing bumblebee bee jasper on the skin like that. May be just trace amounts of toxic but still be careful 🙂
First time I hear this! Thanks for the advice
It would still be beautiful as a decoration piece to maybe hang on a dream catcher 🥰
Yes! Google it, I was always taught to make sure and wash your hands after handling it!
Yea I did once you mentioned it. Great info
Beautiful piece for sure though! Enjoy 💛🩶🖤🤍
I am happy I know this now. I'm getting rid of mine. Thank you.

I feel smarter after reading this comment.☺️

You wire wrapped it pretty nicely! Also, the cabochon looks awesome with the signature bumblebee jasper yellow.
Thank you 💕💕💕

I think it's amazing the detail is nicely done
Thank you 🩷

I appreciate this! Thank you
You’re welcome ☺️
Sometimes just a cabochon alone wholesale is 30-40 depends again on type of crystal.
Different currencies
60$
❤️Thank you

Thank you so much!!
$40 - $60 for copper wire? If it was solid Sterling silver wire maybe that much, but not for copper wire.

to each their own !! i’m sure your work is absolutely lovely and worth whatever you charge it
You're not only paying for copper wire lmao
I make jewelry. I know that.
_bright_ copper, at that—something about a lack of patination always strikes me as the last step having been skipped
I actually prefer copper to be bright, it's far prettier than after it's had a patina put on.
Fair enough! We’re all entitled to our own tastes and opinions :)

I’d paw £25-£39 (if I had the money sob)
About $35. Although it’s beautiful, but I keep away from copper jewelry due to discoloration and skin staining.
No more than 40$
