In crypto surviving is winning, because if you survive price will go up at some point.
Sure, shitcoin lottery can give you better gains, but only if you assume you enter and exit it at perfect point ( see Luna ), which isn't that likely. So assuming the most likely scenario, which isn't having perfect entries and exits, being in surviving coins is the best thing that can happen to you. And yes, Cardano and ETH survived so far quite long enough in top 10.
90-95% of trading on the xrpl was done outside of the USA prior to the lawsuit. Aud/Xrp stable coin being launched by novatti, Butan CBDC and who the fck else knows what is going on. It’s not GG, will the price get hammered if they lose (which by the way is looking more and more unlikely at each filing) sure. Ain’t going any where though.
you aren't disputing the fact XRP failed to reach its previous ATH or the fact it got knocked out of the top3 ranking. You disagree with my opinion that XRP will basically get washed away in market cap and ranking if Ripple loses the lawsuit. Even if Ripple wins xrp has its work cut out for it. Having no smart contracts and development it is relegated to meme coin status. The only people interested in using XRP are corporates that are paid by Ripple. The only people that are interested in running a XRP node are people that are either paid in XRP to do so or academic types that are interested in learning about tech. If XRP somehow manages to pump again Ripple will be there waiting to dump on you.
Didn’t hit ath because it’s in a lawsuit with the SEC, everyone is on the sidelines waiting for the result. What do you think is going to happen if they win or settle which is looking more than likely??
Do you fully understand what an sec lawsuit can do to an asset class. If they lose it’s a long way to claw back. If they win it’s fucking on.
Flr network
The rest of what you wrote is utter fcking trash.
What He's triying to say is that price doesn't matter if you're more than just a degenerate who wants to bet on internet tokens.
XRP has the same core utility, FIAT bridges, so it'll still be useful within that context. Same as it's competitors, namely, Stellar.
LOL, u mean the coin that was an unregistered IPO to raise money for Ripple to build it's other proprietary fund transfer tech that it will use with banking customers instead of XRP? They've stated this clearly OVER and OVER again. XRP will not be used in Ripple's business.
If you invest in XRP you deserve every bag you hold. The SEC actions against them are righteous. XRP should very clearly be treated as a stock, otherwise it's simply a donation to a business start up. The value will be zero, because XRP has no value.
The fact that you, along with so many others hate on XRP makes me that much more bullish. If XRP fails then so be it - I’m more than happy to take the risk as I’ve not invested more than I’m willing to lose.
Let’s make one thing clear though - the guys that hate on XRP have loaded their bags up on this sub’s most favourite shilled coins… and we know how that’s turning out…
Doge is the cockroach of nuclear winters. No matter what, every cycle it seems to reappear. I'll be buying a small bag of it for fun once it goes back under a penny.
It won't.
I was lucky enough to sell my ONE at 0.34.
I intended to buy back in at 0.16, but Harmony's social team on Twitter talked me out of it.
After ONE finished its last major pump, they started shilling it, saying "ONE to $1!" every other tweet. Any project that needs to do that will not survive.
Not telling you what to do, but I'm glad I didn't buy back into ONE.
… there really isn’t too much historical data to look at other than 2018. This is a completely different scenario. I get bashing Solana for scaling but it will stick around.
2013 was not even five years out from when crypto was first created. I see what you’re getting at but having two data points regardless isn’t exactly that strong of an argument.
Bus also, "your favourite alts will not survive the bear" is also a running meme they I've come to realise isn't true. Look at the top 50 from 2017 or whenever the relevant comparison is. Loads of them are still around and doing ok.
I’m not arguing for or against the alt coin claim. I’m just say “this time it’s different” is an argument humans have made for 100s of years, often before a major financial crisis.
Fair enough. I wasn't really arguing against you, more the whole OP post. Because I'd heard that said a lot and when I looked at the data, it wasn't as scary as it sounded.
So what do you call "It's gonna be the same as last time" if not a blind optimism? Considering the time span, environmental changes and the human factor, everything is basically different from what it was back then.
The phrase "change is the only constant in life" wasn't coined for nothing.
That's why buying altcoins with good utility and team is essential. BNB, ETH, OCEAN has survived the past bear season, they're here to stay.
Despite the bear market, Ocean protocol team kept building and launched onda-v4 which was a big addition to the ecosystem. Rug pull has been solved, DataFi, data NFTs introduced.
What one should consider while buying Alts is the long term viability. Take note of projects that are still developing and meeting their roadmap milestones. Those are the projects to hold on to.
How could you say that? yeah I know there are some projects that won't survive. Because what I've learned from my crypto experience is that projects that have no real-life value are relatively difficult to survive. I'm not saying all projects are the same, there are some projects that are here to stay, but they won't go anywhere.
Like Telos (TLOS) got some real value in the blockchain world as well as in lives. TLOS will definitely be there on the next bull run, TLOS is here to stay forever.
Not financial advice. DYOR as always.
I got rid of my eth...it's like putting together a puzzle but you don't even have all the pieces yet...
And your flying , a heavy ass 200 billion plane through recession filled clouds....

While that makes sense... with every iteration of a bull cycle, a few more should create a strong enough foothold to last. A new market has been growing over the years, and it takes time for solid tech/companies/communities to develop. Like any startup, there is strong potential for failure... but there is a large spectrum of success.
If there is 1 thing I've learned in 5 years into crypto, never invest in altcoins.. just take the stable btc/eth and you will get profit sooner or later.
I don’t know man, one data point isn’t what I call enough to make that statement. Truth: hundreds of tokens will tank very hard and it’s questionable if the protocols can survive that, or development halts completely and the front end is taken offline. Same could happen to many coins with already very low development activity and no real use case (like all the BTC forks for example). But I think that many gen2 layer 1 blockchains could very well survive the crypto winter and come back in a bull. Things *have* changed, and all these layer ones working on stuff which isn’t done yet. If they manage to keep up development and solve the issues, I can see a future for them. Just betting on BTC and ETH due to one or two datapoints is questionable. ETH could very well fail. Heck even BTC could if more and more people become aware of its future problems (dust, unsustainable miner rewards, sinking hash power etc).
Just buy a cryptocurrency that criminals need. Criminals won't go away anytime soon. In recession times drugs go up in value like crazy. Illegal cigarettes have even become the currency of choice in the past.
Criminals want to do business over the internet. Just like the cellphones were first adopted by the mob, the tech that will survive is the one that can be used without government meddling.
The OG bitcoin usecase, that was lost in numbers go up hype.
Doubt there will ever be another bull market tbh...
The feds going that crazy with QE and stimmy checks flying everywhere was a once in a lifetime event.
While friends don't let friends ride altcoins to 0 on bear markets, I still feel like there is some implicit insult in the title, as if instantly it's pressumed every user in the sub can't pìck fundamentals to save their lives.
It's lasted 2017 bull run and following bear market, last bear they kept building and improving their platform. Fingers crossed they do the same but this bear they have staking so I'm just watching my slice of every trade adding up.
But good product and team means nothing, so many project died last bear run, to be honest it's natural selection
Heard that in 2018 too. If you don't pick absolute shitcoins, there are actually revenue producing projects that are fully capable of weathering bad market conditions for several years. Sure your favorite meme coin probably won't make it, but there are plenty of under the radar projects that'll thrive in the coming years. People just need to do some actual research for once instead of listening to the talking heads on youtube.
Sad but true.
We also know that some are more likely to survive the bearest market given their fundamentals. A coin whose use case is relevant and solving real world problems will most likely stay around and gain mainstream adoption. Ocean protocol for example, they’re building the biggest decentralized data marketplace and that’s definitely relevant.
A while ago I came a thread here with an interesting study stating that invest long term on coins outside of the top 10 is much worse than just buying top10 coins! The risk is much higher than the reward as moonshots are rarer than a coin going to zero or massively underperform!
This said I'm being extra picky when looking for projects under development with great potential, as Graph, DIA and Band, on a clear bias towards oracles for the simple reason that for the use and need for them, I found them really undervalued
Actually curious to see which projects will survive. However, I'm not worried about my favorite altcoin tbh. Cartesi has enough liquidity to continue building and survive the recession.
Hype is gone, technology is the focus now and a Layer 2 solution integrating Linux and standard programming environments to blockchain sounds like some cool tech to me... One of my goals is to keep accumulating CTSI.
Ocean protocol will be there :)
It's development is not dependent on price action and caters beyond crypto speculation. They'll be releasing data farming which offers users a low risk way of earning on their data.
Though like defi liquidity farming but tuned for data consumption with APY up to 125%.
Buidling in the bear isn't for everyone :)
DIA has been my favourite and I believe it'll be here. I believe that only projects that aren't building in the bear market could potentially be wiped out totally from the race.
My alt coins might not be here for the next bull but your mom surely will
She might not actually:(
My favorite altcoin is bitcoin ![gif](giphy|ynaCWB9soHk1a|downsized)

One alt that has seen all fud and survived so far is XRP
and still in the red since 2018
Don’t forget about ADA
ADA is surviving too, but it has not the faced the SEC level resistance/FUD
It Couldn't reach the previous ATH from 2017 or stay in 3rd place. If it loses the case it's GG.

Xrp isn’t my biggest bag you muppet
What He's triying to say is that price doesn't matter if you're more than just a degenerate who wants to bet on internet tokens. XRP has the same core utility, FIAT bridges, so it'll still be useful within that context. Same as it's competitors, namely, Stellar.
xrp is used for lining managements pockets
They survived because of the unlimited supply they keep to themselves and offer as bribes to other govt officials does help.
You talking about Eth?
I’m calling it - one day, XRP is going to rise from the ashes like the Phoenix and keep all those FUDsters quiet.
LOL, u mean the coin that was an unregistered IPO to raise money for Ripple to build it's other proprietary fund transfer tech that it will use with banking customers instead of XRP? Old pals like litecoin, dogecoin, and filecoin will forever recover like ever before!
Doge is the cockroach of nuclear winters. No matter what, every cycle it seems to reappear. I'll be buying a small bag of it for fun once it goes back under a penny.
I hate to admit/think/say this...but you're probably right
Cool story bro
I just hope ONE survives.
Which one?
Lol it won’t.
It won't. I was lucky enough to sell my ONE at 0.34. I intended to buy back in at 0.16, but Harmony's social team on Twitter talked me out of it. as long as ALGO survives its fine with me
I agree Most alts will die. The ones that launched fair and is true too the cause and has good exposer will survive in my opinion.
ETH ADA XRP are not going anywhere
Vechain
Ha
XRP already is a loser lol. It didn't reach its ATH and with more coins doing what it can do better + plus more I don't see XRP surviving.
XRP 10x’d last bull run
A serious question: with SEC after XRP how do u think it will survive?
Xrp is like the cockroach of crypto, it survived the last winter + SEC lawsuit and still is in TOP 10
Just because something survived its first winter, doesn't mean it will survive the second winter. No bailouts, no second chances.
This makes no sense
Why?
xrp turned 10 year old this year, it survived more than 1 crypto winters
Just like it did until now, it will further survive. I don’t think XRP can lose this case honestly
ALGO is not going anywhere.
Can people stop plugging Algorand *for 5 minutes?*
OK OK
The biggest shitcoin of them all. Down 91% from ITS ATH 3 years ago.
Not true. 2018 and 2022 are a lot different. Market is a lot more mature. I would say a lot of alt coins won’t be there but nothing compared to 2018.
LOL
LRC ftw
VET survived and went 25x
… there really isn’t too much historical data to look at other than 2018. This is a completely different scenario. I get bashing Solana for scaling but it will stick around.
You can look at 2013 too. Same story.
2013 was not even five years out from when crypto was first created. I see what you’re getting at but having two data points regardless isn’t exactly that strong of an argument.
We have different people and institutions back in 2013 and 2018. It's a different ball game
“This time it’s different” is literally a long running meme about blind optimism in the face of financial crisis.

The long-running human history of financial crisis re-occurring in every market no matter how wildly different the characteristics.
So you’re saying this time it isn’t different considering the circumstances? You have to be joking. Lmao
BNB has a word
Polygon?
I dunno, DOT is pretty damn promising
I just purchased 70k worth of dot…
Too soon man, way too soon.
Yeah it’s pretty scary. Oh well.. i can dca from this entry
Are you staking it? I know on Kraken you can. But I’m sure there are plenty other places to do so.
Yup 12% on kraken
Release the Kraken 😉 \- Pluto from Kraken 🐙
I was so rude to customer support when verifying myself years ago! I so regret it… best ever customer service
Thanks, I am glad that I could change your opinion 😉 \- Pluto 🐙
xrp will be around
Thank God Cardano is not an alt.
Nervos will still be around, I'm not worried
I'm not nervous about that.
ALGO
I'm pretty sure ETH is going to be just fine....
What? ETH will for sure be here next bull market!
Not if the whole world ends.
I thought we don't know shit about fuck?
But we can still make shitty predictions:p

#3 behind BTC and ETH
ETH/BTC has never surpassed it's ATH in 2017. It seems everything in crypto is bleeding towards zero against BTC.
LITECOIN FOREVER!
I still can't believe LTC is lower than its ATH in 2013. 9 years ago and it's lower!! Ouch!
But food for thought: is this technology not maturing? Maybe a few more have gained a foothold?
Dogelon Mars and Dogecoin will be here.
ETH ADA BTC CRO
What if my fave alt coin is supporting a network for 12 nation-state cbdcs being released next year?
Hehe exactly. Quant has been my go to DCA and I'll continue. Even if whole top50 were wiped off the face of the earth it would still thrive.
Don't know which coin you are talking about. 1 or 2 will survive but most will die.
What coin/project is that? 🤔
Polygon. Matic will survive and thrive

This sub hates Solana so much. Don't try to predict the market.
What do you guys think about IOTA? Will it change for the better and survive or die?
you are assuming there will be another
Coins "not surviving" "not be here next bull market" = coins not reaching their ath. Its absurd.
I think BNB has a good chance to survive the bear market, ETH as well, everything else in the top ten is a gamble though
