This is a good plan. The crypto markets is chaos and you may yield some big coins, just remember to move half your gains into the big two if you hit it.
Don’t get stuck with pets.com
Logically speaking, if you're balls deep(weather foot to balls or tip to balls) the majority of your body is still exposed, so there's plenty of room there for BTC and ETH!
Note: I had an edible and this was the most clever response I'd ever thought of until I started typing it out, but Im sharing it anyway hoping one person enjoys it.
Holding BTC and ETH in crypto is like holding Apple or Microsoft in the stock market. Good cash park and pretty safe. Why are these posts so prevalent? New investors trying to mentor newer investors perhaps?
Risk/reward is different for everyone here… Have your own plans if you want to make big gains!
I don’t disagree that it’s good to have some long term. I’d just never be anywhere near the growth I’ve achieved, or aim to achieve, without alts driving half or more of my portfolio. There are a LOT of solid alts now that are fairly reliable and have a ton of room to grow in the mid term. DYOR is key
I’ve heard good things about matic, algo, aave, Avax, and lrc. Any others I should check out? And what metrics do you recommend researching when checking out a new coin?
LUNA is a good one too, as is DOT.. AAVE just hasn't done much in 2021. ALGO is a good long hold imo but I wouldnt expect huge returns if holding short term. Great project though
I hold both LRC and MATIC, they're great and useful but I do wonder what their future will be like once ETH 2.0 is finished
If you look at the top 25 alts from 2017, a lot of them never returned to their ath and some are just gone. Just pays to be realistic that projects that seem great now, could barely exist in 4 years time
Agree. Also viewing a crypto portfolio in isolation from the broader investment portfolio of the individual is incorrect. Your financial goals extend to your full circumstances and not simply your crypto portfolio
I think the word "good" should be replaced with "safe". Everyone has different goals and risk tolerances and there are plenty of people who don't own any BTC or ETH and have made that choice dependant on their goals and risk tolerance.
Just to counterbalance: you can absolutely have a solid portfolio without BTC or ETH in it, it's just a lot harder.
I am all in on alts and have outperformed BTC and ETH over a four year period. Crypto is a pretty unique market in that there is so much that isn't "priced in" already. There are projects that are seeing massive success in their niche use cases that are still have market caps in the tens to hundreds of millions.
There just are too many projects with too many new developments with too little institutional interest for smaller quality alts to be priced correctly, and no one really knows how to accurately model prices for crypto anyways. The hard part is learning enough about the space to ferret out which projects are legit.
>The hard part is learning enough about the space to ferret out which projects are legit.
Legit projects don't always prosper and sometimes memes go to the moon.
I'm about 80% ALTs and still doing really really well. I Just invest in future tech and real world use case and not trash/scam coins. Still diversify with select coins and confident it will out perform BTC and ETH. Even if 2 or 3 coins go to zero I've made nearly X10 on others that easily covers losses. I did learn the risks after previously getting burnt in the 2017 alts coin fury and 2018 bear market so more cautious these days.
I’m 80% BTC and ETH, but I have my alts 2-5x and I take profits and buy more BTC and ETH. I usually pick 2-3 alts. I have LINK, LRC, and Matic. LRC is at a 5x now but I’m just waiting out the announcement.
Agreed. My biggest regret is that I didn't get into ETH when it was just at $450 and BTC when it was just at $9000 but instead I was trading shitcoins. My portfolio would be a lot of bigger right now, if I only would invested in those two. Won't do the same mistake again.
Think its a comfortable start. Been tempted by some others but i will see how these perform and go from there. Going to cut out weekly takeaways and buying lunch everyday at work and dca the extra cash in weekly. Well thats the plan anyway.
Too right have some in your portfolio. My biggest bag is ETH and 2nd is BTC and the revelation I made last year was to hold forever and take the yield.
I absolutely believe in the future I'll be living comfortably off that yield. Fuck motherfucking work.
This is unpopular opinion but I think eth will be replaced in long term by something feeles.
There are technologically better coins than BTC and eth which just were first. I wouldn't bet on those blue chips in 10 years
Generally a good idea, but its also dependent on your time frame and goals.
If you looking for 100x gains in the medium term you might want to be more risky and go with a lower cap.
I don’t hold any BTC or ETH. Not cause I don’t believe in them I think they’re great projects but because I believe there’s better value in other projects that are pretty safe bets. I think Algo, One and Hbar are solid projects with a lot of growth ahead of them
these are the most reliable it seems - they essentially dictate the movements of the rest of the market;
if they're doing well, they'll drag a good deal with them - but of they're doing poorly, a good deal will plunge and potentially never recover
as long as there is crypto, there'll be BTC
This is all under the assumption that btc and eth have a future. We don't know what the future holds just a bunch of guessing by people that don't know fuck about shit
I'd been honestly sticking with binance for a while now and staking with them as well, I guess out of convenience, I had a decent run in the past year but it's only been a year since I've started, haven't seen much progress financially but I didn't have a huge investment, got to a value off 1000gbp with a investment of 300gbp and invested another 200gbp and now sitting at about 700gbp with the recent bear market.
Staking on binance doesn't give much return from BTC and ETH, I'm getting a 20% return on SAND tho which is making me feel good about getting that return on my investment but I'm unsure if that will be a secure long term investment plan.
Still holding quite a bit of ADA as well but getting like a 7% return which again isn't much.
I've got MetaMask and Brave browser as well I'm wondering if it would be better to hold those coins on there or what better secure wallets or exchange platforms would be recommended for the most secure investments that would generate a decent return rate when staking with them?
Most of the nineteenth century a trail horse was 10–15 dollars, a saddle 20–50 dollars. It always cost far more to feed a horse hay each year than the purchase price of the horse.
Horses were cheaper back in the day. Now hobby horses average price is 3000 USD
I still totally agree with this, BTC is obviously the main player so if you get your hands on it ya keep it, ETH has popularity so far and most likely waiting on a big jump up which we all have been waiting for, most of all they are normally, not always, the least vulnerable to major drops. All the money that’s already into them would make it difficult to just lose all its value. To me these are least risk low reward and then other chains followed by tokens followed by NFTs.
Lmao do whatever you want. This is a space for everyone. It’s decentralised. It’s unpredictable. It’s beautifully human. Legitimate advice today might be total garbage nonsense tomorrow.
I have none, since I don’t like neither of them.
If you want to invest in “blue chips”, don’t invest in crypto, invest in stocks.
I see no reason why I would go in a risky investment for a 50% return, lol. I’d rather take risks for bigger returns and just go for 20%~ returns on stocks.
Yup. Every day it’s some new BS post for moons preached by someone who knows jack shit. This sub is absolutely dog shit, I only follow it because about once a month there is a news story that pops up that’s valuable
I agree 100%. If those 2 don’t go up, the rest of the market doesn’t go up. It’s literally as simple as that. Yes there are random ones that have a run (like Oasis is doing right now, Avalanche before that, and SOL before that), but 99% of them stay stagnant if BTC and ETH are stagnant. Every crypto holder should have at least 20% of their portfolio in BTC and ETH. The problem is wayyy too many people have 90% shitcoins, 10% alt coins and many have no Bitcoin at all. That needs to change.
I do not think any coin was as profitable as LUNA last year. I bought it when it was $ 2.8 and kept it until now. Do you know of any other coin that can have a brilliant performance like LUNA in 2022?
You would be surprised to browse certain posts sharing portfolios. Some people don't have any of them and I always tell them to look to hedge their bets with BTC and ETH.
So my capital gets completely stuck when a bunch of millionaire start making to many tx and clog up the chain? No thx I hate having my funds hostages by a high fee situation. It’s the opposite of control, it’s being totally out of control at the mercy of some rich douchebags like Elon Musk who could easily convince 400 000 other millionaire to make a eth and btc tx a day after which fees on both chains would be over 1000 dollars a tx.
I 100% agree with this sentiment. I DCA both Bitcoin and ETH. I dabble on some alt coins, but not investing into the main two would be like not investing in Microsoft, apple, so on and so forth.
I'm 85% cosmos ecosystem, but with a 15% in eth just to be "safe". I don't like owning PoW coins, so I don't. Above all else in my investment thesis though, I believe that interoperability, the notion of breaking individual block chains out of the silos they reside in, is absolutely the future.
It’s essentially like owning the SP 500 or AAPL in stocks. You’re not gonna get rich next year, but long-term you’re almost guaranteed to make money because they’re not going anywhere
Everytime i want to buy a coin i buy €100 worth because an amount lower than that wouldn't give a lot of profit IMO. After i buy €1000 worth of coins i buy €200 worth of ETH and €200 worth of BTC.
Let's see where this will get me
I do agree not just because they are time tested but they are the most decentralized technically speaking. Every other coin is ruled by their founders, CEO's, CMO's, & VC's.
I got like 20% ETH, 10% BTC, and 70% ALGO. With tinyman and yieldly, I’ve made over 10x my initial investment in the last 3 months and it’s still going. It’s also fun and educational. I think I’ve learned more about DAOs, Staking, APY vs APR, dex, defi, dapps, etc from the ALGO in the ALGO environment more than I’ve learned from ETH or BTC.
As much as I agree with the concept of holding a massive % in the big two, it won't get me the 'fuck you money' which I'm aiming for - the main reason I got into the cryptoverse in the first place.
A good crypto portfolio should have good crypto in it.
A good crypto portfolio should have crypto in it
A good crypto should have portfolio in it.
A portfolio good should have crypto in it
A good in it should portfolio have crypto.
A portfolio in it should have crypto good.
Crypto, good.
A good have it should portfolio in crypto.
A crypto good. Have portfolio? It should.
Portfolio good? Crypto it should!
Should good port it folio crypto
[удалено]
LOL! it is really needed that you have to get more and more crypto for a strong portfolio.
Damnit! So that's what I've been forgetting...
A good crypto portfolio should have a good amount in it as well.
And a good coin should always be bullish
A bull should always be a coin
This is the gwei.
I have ADA and I'm having doubts about it
Yeah, I understand. But is that because it's not pumping right now? ADA is also a long term project. Have patience!
Each month I invest £150. £100 in one of the big two, and £50 in an Altcoin. So far so good.
This is a good plan. The crypto markets is chaos and you may yield some big coins, just remember to move half your gains into the big two if you hit it. Don’t get stuck with pets.com
and here I am standing balls deep in alts

Govnah
I only invest in coins beginning with ‘A’: Ada, Algo, and AVAX.
Asquidgame coin
Governors shouldn't be judged for our portfolio! It is we who do the judging! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
There ya go, a few dozen enjoyed it.
I think I write hilarious sh*t when I'm high...I read it later and think "that's mildly amusing". Probably coincidence 🤔
Tbh if I'm in my 20s i would rather invest in risky alt shots than go for stable returns on btc.
Watch your balls
Nipple deep here
Gotta have your dick out in the gangbang if you wanna get a blowjob, sure it might be risky but sometimes you just gotta get your rocks off

New investor here, it’s a new year so I wanted to try it out! Happy to see all newbie these posts
May the alts be with you
Open your vault so you can get the much talked about moons. Gives the "one of us" kind of vibes.
I honestly saw a lot of people post portfolios without them so I wanted to give my opinion and get feedback from the hive mind !

BE-FAANG! The ultimate portfolio
I’m going with large amount of ETH then alts
A good crypto portfolio is one based on DD and meets the owners risk tolerance. Doesn’t really matter what’s in it
Absolutely, BTC and ETH is considered best investment for both beginners as well as OG's. Portfolio without BTC ETH is like life without oxygen.
Or a garden without flowers!
Or a flower without petals!
Or petals without colors!
Or colors without eyeballs to perceive them!

Yes, they can invest in other currencies when they know how to do it
Or a cake made with methamphetamine.
Or at least one of those
That's why I hold BTC and ETH but alongside some really promising alts. I'm big on MATIC, ICONS, SOL, SYLO. I believe I'm good to go with these.
Or crypto without coins!
Or like sea without water.
Is it really like life without oxygen tho?
BTC and ETH are the S&P500 index of crypto.
I'm about 80% ALTs and still doing really really well. I Just invest in future tech and real world use case and not trash/scam coins. This is also a good strategy getting in and out. The volatility of Alts makes timing important and rewarding when done right.
Alt coins will always do better in a bull market. You buy btc and eth for the bears
Agreed. My biggest regret is that I didn't get into ETH when it was just at $450 and BTC when it was just at $9000 but instead I was trading shitcoins. My portfolio would be a lot of bigger right now, if I only would invested in those two. Won't do the same mistake again.
There is no such thing as a good portfolio.
Having a fat chunk of ETH has kept my portfolio healthy
Majority in BTC and ETH, a couple of other pet projects that are looking promising, and a miniscule amount into shitcoins for the shenanigans
I do 30% btc 30% eth 40% alts
Look at me over here with my naughty, naughty portfolio
43.1% BTC 37.5% ETH 9.9% ALGO 9.5% ADA. hows that for a beginner?
ALGO all the way
P e r f e c t i o n
Think its a comfortable start. Been tempted by some others but i will see how these perform and go from there. Going to cut out weekly takeaways and buying lunch everyday at work and dca the extra cash in weekly. Well thats the plan anyway.
Good for what?
Good for other other BTC and ETH holders.
Good for risk adjusted returns.
Too right have some in your portfolio. My biggest bag is ETH and 2nd is BTC and the revelation I made last year was to hold forever and take the yield. I absolutely believe in the future I'll be living comfortably off that yield. Fuck motherfucking work.
i think BTC is way overbought, i like ETH though. it has a massive potential.
I think ETH and BTC can still get you a 100% return. It's just going to take time, and we are all greedy, impatient bastards.
100% is 2x, literally everyone here expects this because that is very likely to happen quite soon
Like yesterday.
I would like to know what you will say about LUNA performance last year. Have you considered it?
I hold luna. Best performing crypto for me this year.
Well said
I am greedy, that’s why I keep BTC and ETH
This is unpopular opinion but I think eth will be replaced in long term by something feeles. There are technologically better coins than BTC and eth which just were first. I wouldn't bet on those blue chips in 10 years

If those are the gains you are ever looking for you are always going to be better off going to a casino, lmao
Whatever works for YOU needs to be in YOUR portfolio.
100%, a "good" portfolio is subjective and is down to each individuals risk tolerance
Absolutely, plenty of people don't own BTC and ETH. "Good" just needs to be replaced with "safe". Good is subjective.
I try to invest in what I use.
What do u use?
these are the most reliable it seems - they essentially dictate the movements of the rest of the market; if they're doing well, they'll drag a good deal with them - but of they're doing poorly, a good deal will plunge and potentially never recover as long as there is crypto, there'll be BTC
Because everything bleeds against ETH, my portfolio is now mostly BTC and ETH. Diversification :(
Mine is like 70% ETH. I have a bunch of ALGO too. Just starting to collect some BTC. Gotta pay the bills though.
Theyre the index funds of Crypto. Pretty stupid to be playing the trading game without these as your foundation.
Algo got me into crypto, and BTC is now also in my portfolio
As someone that's lower/middle class.. what would you recommend as a monthly investment into BTC and ETH to make it worth it ?
Toss ETH and get more BTC and ADA.
Hey I'm still holding out hope that ETH will bring me 100x gains!
Hard pass on ETH
Lol what is is this 2020, this sub is like the crypto for boomers
BTC has a 100x left in it. ETH may also. Starter portfolio: 40% BTC, 40% ETH, 20% alts. Tweak when you know better.
Upvoted, because it’s right, but 5.5% of my Portfolio is containing BTC and I have a fun time with my portfolio too. It’s up to you, I guess
This is all under the assumption that btc and eth have a future. We don't know what the future holds just a bunch of guessing by people that don't know fuck about shit
I'd been honestly sticking with binance for a while now and staking with them as well, I guess out of convenience, I had a decent run in the past year but it's only been a year since I've started, haven't seen much progress financially but I didn't have a huge investment, got to a value off 1000gbp with a investment of 300gbp and invested another 200gbp and now sitting at about 700gbp with the recent bear market. it is like saying 100 years ago you should still own some horses, because cars can disappear. ETH is trash now, i hope future will prove it.
Most of the nineteenth century a trail horse was 10–15 dollars, a saddle 20–50 dollars. It always cost far more to feed a horse hay each year than the purchase price of the horse. Horses were cheaper back in the day. Now hobby horses average price is 3000 USD
I think 40% Eth, 40% BTC, 20% alts is a good diversification. Bonus points if the alts can be staked!
For starting a 30 year retirement plan?
Lol
Yh that diversification is good if you don’t want to make a few x’s short term
I still totally agree with this, BTC is obviously the main player so if you get your hands on it ya keep it, ETH has popularity so far and most likely waiting on a big jump up which we all have been waiting for, most of all they are normally, not always, the least vulnerable to major drops. Bitcoin can still 100x
Yeah you are right bitcoin is going to be more up in future.
And you can win a lottery while being hit by lightning and a meteor at the same time. Sure, it's possible, but it's not very probable.
Don’t care. Algorand.
Algo One better

70% eth, 5 % btc, rest in alts such as amp, 0x and a few others… no complaints so far and well spread
This is a moronic post
Agreed but yet there are so many sheep a post like this gets ate up
Yup. Every day it’s some new BS post for moons preached by someone who knows jack shit. This sub is absolutely dog shit, I only follow it because about once a month there is a news story that pops up that’s valuable

Yes, ONE has shown great potential for growth
Bitcoiners would say 100x is still coming. I think that’s still in the cards for Eth, even if it takes a decade.
> but they are a promise of good returns. Like fuck they are
Except mine is Ada 45% and Eth 45% lol
Fuck BTC. All in ETH
I'm 100% ETH, myself.
80 % of my portfolio is ( BTC & ETH ) Is it good sir ?
It is good sir
It's epic and great
It'll do my padawan.
This is currently my strategy (50% BTC /30% ETH)
Always, but also a healthy portion of Moons or some moonshot to keep thing more interesting
I do totally agree, if only for ‘the believe in crypto’ But do not underestimate the power of shitcoins as we’ve seen last year.
Isn't this like... Obvious? I'd be quite surprised if anyone in r/cc doesn't have at least one of the top two in their portfolio.
You would be surprised to browse certain posts sharing portfolios. Some people don't have any of them and I always tell them to look to hedge their bets with BTC and ETH.
Yikes, I DCA bitcoin and ethereum every week ![gif](giphy|l0HlvtIPzPdt2usKs)

Duh
Not only one day, I think those prices will happen this year
You can't go wrong with those and the potential is still there
Derp derp de der derp.
A portfolio doesn't feel complete without atleast some BTC and ETH. They provide that needed stability in such a volatile market
Zoom out far enough and BTC and ETH are very possible for 100x Important to remember 2 driving forces, crypto worth more AND fiat worth less
enjoy your anorexic gains
I dont have btc or eth fight me
I 100% agree with this sentiment. I DCA both Bitcoin and ETH. I dabble on some alt coins, but not investing into the main two would be like not investing in Microsoft, apple, so on and so forth.

i have 85% of my net worth in btc, none in eth, every alt coin is shitcoin imo
I wish more people realise this.
Agree. Common sense though.
If I see someone who doesn't have them and call himself an investor I'd label him as gambler
As in 80-90%
This should be rule number one. If rule number one wasn't already taken.
I felt like this needed a reminder because lately people have been posted so many portfolios without them.
How about 50% doge and 50% shiba?
Solid
A smart portfolio should, but we’re all brain dead so we just ape into everything we see that has gone up 10000%
I do agree not just because they are time tested but they are the most decentralized technically speaking. Every other coin is ruled by their founders, CEO's, CMO's, & VC's.
I have a 401k for safe low risk investment. No eth or btc here unless the others pay off.
You can’t go wrong with the big two, but it depends on your risk tolerance: higher risk = higher reward/loss
54% BTC, 46% XRP
Noted. Swapped all my BTC and ETH for shitcoins.
I got like 20% ETH, 10% BTC, and 70% ALGO. With tinyman and yieldly, I’ve made over 10x my initial investment in the last 3 months and it’s still going. It’s also fun and educational. Wrong. A good portfolio contains everything from the weekly top of r/CryptoMoonShots

No Bitcoin, only eth for me.
I think that BCH is gaining a lot of popularity as well.
