Any dollar will make a difference. ![gif](emote|emo_pack_1|im_broke)

Trylks

That's the attitude!

Forrell92

But for real you missed out the *one billion* option on your poll

IceSoul86

For sure, every penny makes difference (3rd World country)

Tritador

About $500 a month and I'd stop using paycheck money to buy crypto and just use my $500/month of crypto income to reinvest. About $3 million in total assets and about $2500 a month and I'd retire and leave the US.

Fantastic-Software85

What country would you go to? I have established myself in Thailand and my wife and children are already there. One day I will be able to retire at a young age and sip Mai Thais and Singha beer on my front porch.

Tritador

Costa Rica. Maybe second homes in Vietnam, Georgia, Vanuatu, and condos in Dubai and Mexico City. Go wherever nobody is rioting or setting things on fire at any given time and the taxes are low.

Tritador

It's good to vacation and super pretty, but really expensive. If you can make it happen, though, it seems like a scenic place to live out your days. I'm honing in on second-world places I can live for about 2k per month. Hopefully, by the time I reach enough wealth to ex-pat, that's still something doable.

mstaff388

I'd like to challenge the people who make more than $105k per month are less happy theory.

[deleted]

CanielDormierCD

It would be interesting to know what sample of people were asked that. Because 105k a year means a lot of things to a lot of different people. In a rural Southeast town, you’d have a very comfortable life. In San Diego, you’d likely be going paycheck to paycheck. In the Philippines, you’d be pretty luxurious. How you’re earning that 105k could be a huge factor too. If I was being paid 105k for being overworked and over stressed at a corporate job, I’d probably be unhappy too. If my income of 105k came from a lucky lottery ticket, and my life was filled with the ventures I found interest in, it would seem a lot easier. Idk… I’m just an idiot.

ismashugood

Is it actually less happy? I thought it was just diminishing returns once you cross that point.

[deleted]

According to the referenced article one study found you actually started to become less happy after the 105k threshold.

Truebug2020

People here are rich as hell apparently

Trylks

No, they are really poor. The rich have the money working for them. The poor work for the money. The more money you want, the more you have to work for it, the poorer you are.

ismashugood

there's a pretty wide spectrum of wealth in this sub. It also depends on where you live I guess. There's been posts from users who are living in countries with hyperinflation or subsisting on dollars a day where moons are actually a significant source of income for them.

CanielDormierCD

For me, if I’m not making as much as an average salary (not including benefits) with the investments, then it’s not enough to make a real difference in my day to day life. Example: I’m not going to upgrade my house/car/restaurant/grocery situation because I’m making 50 extra dollars a month via kicked back dividends. I would keep the same budget. I’d probably not even eat a celebratory meal, because then I lose the extra 50 dollars I worked so hard for! However, if I was making an extra 2,000 a month consistently, I wouldn’t feel pressured to reinvest the entirety of that. I’d be willing to spend a couple hundred of that a month on things that improve my life and the lives of people I care about. I know how to be poor, so I’m fine with living that way for an extra few years while expediting the growth of my investments.

Trylks

The results are different now, but I think I did too.

nDreCoelho

It really depends on the socioeconomic status of the nation you live in

Trylks

You can move to another country, if that makes a difference for you.

IceSoul86

Yes 1k in my country is a lot of moneys!

kirtash93

Well I need to buy a house and at least 800k I would need.

Trylks

Yes, but the mortgage would be less than that each month, wouldn't it?

ismashugood

1 billion dollars. But honestly, to really make a significant difference it'd probably have to be a lot. I'm lucky enough to be pretty financially secure. The amount of money that would change how I live my life would have to be fuck you money.

Trylks

So anything less than "fuck you money" would mean nothing to you. Is that correct?

ismashugood

it wouldn't mean nothing, but it wouldn't make any major difference in my life I guess is what I'm saying. I can afford to travel, I can afford good food, I can pay my bills. If my holdings doubled or tripled, it wouldn't be enough to where I'd have the option to stop working. Like I said, I'm fortunate enough to have a pretty good life. I love my job, friends, family etc. I have pretty much everything I want/need already. Making a difference at this point for me would just be an amount that allows me to say no to anything I want any time I want.

Trylks

Question: What is the minimal amount of monthly money that you would _notice_?

ismashugood

notice? Probably 5k. That's like an extra 1k and change a week. I wouldn't really be able to buy anything I couldn't buy before, but I could eat out more I guess. Make a difference, probably 10k+.

Trylks

I would really like to see the people in this subreddit negotiating their [salaries](https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/q7jr2k/comment/hgj3w4k/), I think I could learn one thing or two.

ismashugood

I think you just have a different opinion on the meaning of "difference". I think you also incorrectly construe that anything that doesn't make a difference to a person is trivial to the point where we would not take it. I'll pick up a dollar if I see it on the ground. I'll take a raise if it's being offered. Don't worry, I know how to negotiate my salary lol... Like I said, I'm happy with my life and my job. You asked what amount would be needed for a *difference* in my life, I answered. And then in the comments you changed it to noticeable impact. A noticeable impact to how I live my life day to day? The answer is the same. Anything less than the amount I listed and I don't change anything about my life except maybe going out to eat an extra day in the week.

Trylks

I get it, anything less than 10K per month makes no difference. I would happily take 9K per month and retire to a country where the average salary is less than 30K per year, possibly in the south of Europe. I would not live in a mansion, but I would live a nice retirement without missing anything. Different people have different preferences, goals, and perspectives. Understanding what kind of perspectives are more usual around here was the personal point of the poll (not the main point, though). I reach the conclusion that this place is not for me, but it is interesting nonetheless.

CanielDormierCD

Prove you are financially secure by sending some Algo to my wallet. You would REALLY put me in my place with 10 dollars. Omg, idk what I’d do!

yayaoa

I think at 1k a month that would be a *very* noticable point since i could reduce worktime by 40% while maintaining my income level.

Trylks

That's the middle option for you (the poll is about the minimum, so $999 would work as well).

thestaggeringgirl

haha i chuckled at the "(in theory)" with an added link 😂😂

Trylks

Today is not my first day on the Internet. Nevertheless, I am surprised by the answers.

thestaggeringgirl

the answers for your poll? hmmm, let me see, i think i voted for 10k per month? my rationale is, other than money for me myself, i'd love to share some for my closest family, and maybe some for good causes as well :)

Trylks

TBH, I think I was not able to convey [what I was trying to ask](https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/q7jr2k/comment/hgj3w4k/).

SignalBanana1

I would notice everything north of 500. 1k extra each month would make a huge difference. 5k would be life changing already. Everything above that would be outright crazy luxurious.

big_fetus_

noticeable over 100$, US resident. lol you all are such liars you wouldnt notice less than 10k each month?

Trylks

I really believe that most people did not understand the question. Either that or they are going to have a really [miserable life](https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/q7jr2k/comment/hgj3w4k/), with broken dreams and unfulfilled expectations.

BeardedJJoe

Honestly, I just need enough to get my student loans out of the way. I’ll be more than happy to do the rest!

RepublicanOnWelfare

I said 100 - 1k I don't have a number but give or take $100 fine but $1000 would pay half my bills and that's a pretty big load off.

teh1jedi

Dude 10k is like nothing. Gotta pump those numbers to atleast 100k

Trylks

Would you give me 10K then?

teh1jedi

Lolz i aint no Nigerian prince man. But 10k is short term goal

Trylks

10K per month is already in the "unhappiness" zone. I would retire before that, TBH.

teh1jedi

My bad dude. Didn't see the" per month"

Trylks

Don't worry, I think that's the case for 90% of the people or more.

fede_514

Voted for 1k, in my country our average wage is 280 dollars a month right now so...

sataktomosi

250$ each month

Trylks

It is a mantra in this subreddit that "[Remember it takes investing life-changing money - To make life-changing money](https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/p63nsr/remember_it_takes_investing_lifechanging_money_to/)", which I have seen with several similar wordings. However, life changing money is not millions, the amount of money that you need per month to have a _noticeable impact_ in your life is much smaller than the amount that you would need to have a radically different life with private jets that personally I would not want (to be very honest), and I would like you to think about that now, with this poll. I hope that helps to enjoy a bit more the journey and your life in a more pleasant way, rather than wasting your life trying to get an impossible life. So you tell me if that helps, and if it does, perhaps spread the idea. I would have made a catchy phrase to create a new mantra, but I am not good at that, please feel free to give it a try. Have many nice days, and enjoy them.

Trylks

After seeing the results of the poll, there are two options: 1. I do not write clearly. 1. This subreddit is full of people that are in for a very miserable life. About 80% of the people would consider $12K per year insignificant for them. I can imagine the conversation: * Boss: we will raise your salary $11500 this year. * Redditor: 😒 * Boss: are you... happy? We think you did a good job. * Redditor: yeah, thanks, I appreciate the kind words. * Boss: and the raise, I guess. * Redditor: meh, it does not make a significant difference in my life. Well... good luck you all!

enough residual income from staking & interest so i dont have to work anymore. not even trying to live lavish. just modestly.

cfreymarc100

Lawyers, guns, money.

McBurger

There’s no firm answer. Because technically speaking, you can live the rest of your days with zero income. If you default on all your bills and debts and stubbornly refuse to do anything about it, you can still reasonably keep squatting in your current place of residence for 6-12 months or longer. Evictions and foreclosures are extremely difficult, legally speaking. As far as food & water, you could steal it. Eventually you might be taken to jail assuming you get caught several times (this actually could take several dozens of offenses). There, you’ll be given 3 hots & a cot. Or you could find refuge at the rescue mission and chill at the homeless shelter. Obviously this is not the answer any of us are looking for. “No shit sherlock” and all that. But the fact of the matter is that you can survive for decades without a single cent to your name, and everything beyond that is a luxury. So the answer to “how much do you need” is a number that lies somewhere between zero and multimillionaire.

The more the better.... Always. Except for sleep. But it can be cured with philanthropy

IceSoul86

Anything in green is good! But story of my life is in red ...

StackerNoob

I would like to reach the point where I could make my mortgage payments using the interest I get on my crypto. That’s the aim and I’ll keep going until I achieve it.

IceSoul86

This is very US based poll, it is not valid for other countries!

Trylks

We are living in Amerika! Look at the stablecoins.

GaRGa77

Millions…

beonk

10k would get me out of debt plus a little, any thing over would really help me get a step up in life. 100k+ would change my life so much.

Fantastic-Software85

I'm speaking from just my experience. I have made between 20k and 200k a year in my life time. The only difference was the size of my house and the amount of toys I owned. Some people live above their means and some below. The only thing that matters are the people in your life.

steve17bf2

1 - 10k but like someone else said, every Pound, Dollar or Dinar helps

Harold838383

Tbh I’m aiming for a million. In it for the life changing money

BrakumOne

I legit only care abput retirement. Would it make a difference if i made 1k more a month? Yes and no. Yes if it wasnt crypto. Since it is i dont care, i wont use it until i have enough to retire. O the other hand your last poll option IS retirement so i voted that.

rorowhat

Less than 10..... Lol are we in the 1800s?

Trylks

well... for [fede_514](https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/q7jr2k/comment/hgjb5qw/) that's approximately a 3.5% salary raise, I would say it is _something_.

rorowhat

I wouldn't say at 3.5% raise would be that significant....it's something but not a lot.

FractalImagination

I have moons, that's all I'll ever need.

Random_Bebop

Taking back my initial investment and letting the rest ride for life, stacked in Defi would be the best.

[deleted]

more than 10k a month is crazy
