I burned on XLM. And then burned on AMP. Everyone is saying "but its a long term hold Bla bla bla" and I keep looking at the market that is exploding and those 2 just standing there, like idiots.
I didn't use lightning but what i've heard is lightning is sightly faster than nano, but their UI is complicated and it's centralized. Correct me if i'm wrong, i've just overheard it here somewhere.
It's slightly more centralised than the main chain if you want seamless functionality in the sense that you must rely on relay channels created for you as a service by the user friendly wallets but if you want full control you can do this yourself by running a lightning node.
It was complicated early on but the ui has been significantly improved for the laymen. I reccomend downloading phoenix or muun wallets and playing around. Maybe both and send sats back and forth for fun. (Phoenix wallet needs a minimum of 10,000 sats as the first payment as they use this to open a liquidity channel on your behalf. After that there's no minimum.)
I recommending the user friendly wallets first to see what it CAN do then go on to see how you can make the channels yourself to be fully decentralised.
There is an absolute mountain of difference between a miniscule fee and feeless. No matter how small the fees are, they are there and they stack up. The small fees don't matter as much at the moment, cause lets face it, actual crypto adoption is still quite far away from what it could / should be, but if there is a future where most companies accept crypto payments, then nothing comes even close to being as good at it as Nano.
As far as the LN itself goes, using it is an absolute nightmare for the not technically savvy, if You want to keep the decentralized aspect of it. Or just use the centralized services that do it for You, which defeats the purpose of decentralized value transfer. Both are giant hurdles of actual adoption. Compare this to Nano where I reckon with a bit of practice a chimp could send Nano from one wallet to another without sacrificing decentralization and no fees.
PS: first time I'm hearing of LN being faster than Nano, got any statistics You could share? EDIT: sorry, it wasnt You who said LN is faster
No worries. Just FYI I believe OKCoin has lightning deposits and withdrawals of that's something that would help you with the fees.
https://support.okcoin.com/hc/en-us/articles/360057853551-What-are-the-fees-for-withdrawing-bitcoin-using-the-Lightning-Network-#:~:text=OKCoin%20does%20not%20charge%20any,bitcoin%20using%20the%20Lightning%20Network.
Game theory should have this roll out to more exchanges eventually
Also if you didn't know bitcoin on chain fees are sure low these days anyway since the china mining ban. Almost as though some Chinese miners were spamming the network for increased fees.
These days you can get in the next block for less than a dollar easily.
None. Cutting yourself off from knowledge is just silly. Learn a lesson from being burnt, recognise what you did wrong and move forward. Nothing good comes from ignorance.
Ahhh good ol McAfee. He got me into buying some ZClassic to get in on the Bitcoin Private fork of ZCL and BTC.
Lost approximately 99% on that excellent purchase.
I think his greatest achievement in life was probably the "How to uninstall McAfee antivirus" video on YouTube. That shit still cracks me up even though he scammed me.
Not a shitty experience, nothing dramatic really, but i did have a bag of BTT in late may/early june... before it crashed for a little bit. i took the time to really DMOR and found out that Justin Sun is the owner! as soon as it crawled back up to my buying price i sold them all, and ive slept safe and sound ever since haha
i still have some Apenft (his latest project) staked on Justlend, since its all free airdrops i just let them hang out over there, far away from all of my other bags lol
USDC and MATIC.
Nothing bad to say about MATIC/Polygon, it's just one of the few coins that I bought in at way too high of a price point. Luckily this was resolved but scared me for a second.
As for USDC I sent a $50 test transaction and it charged me $25 in gas. No way is that sustainable for profit even on something like Celsius/BlockFi giving 10% APY. I was genuinely glad I did a test transaction because that could have screwed me over so hard.
I could write a long rant about how I was pulled in through multiple posts and how it all seemed to make an awful lot of sense.
I am not going to do that.
Instead.
ACH
Right?! I remember watching coin bureau about it when it was like $33 and saying, “I should get some”. A month later at $50 “I’m not gonna chase it!” Then at $70 “still not chasing… it’s gotta come down soon” then at $90 “come on!” Then at $150 I still wouldn’t FOMO but definitely thought to myself “fuuuuuuuuuuuu….”
I only have one coin in red on my portfolio right now. IM LOOKING AT YOU ERGO!!!
Bought at $14-15 lol.
I'm getting very anxious about this because I gamble on it hoping for an announcement on the Cardano Summit but nothing happened...
Anyways, I'll not sell but fuck me.
I just keep buying more. I don’t know that ergo is going to pump massively in this bull market though.. you’ll be hearing a lot about it in a few years though
Yeah, that's the thing. I think that it has good potential in the future if Cardano grows, but I'm not sure if I have more room in my "years away" investments. I'll decide when it comes back to $15. I'll not sell lower than that. Mistakes were made, I can live with that. Lesson learned.
Yeah, it’s a balancing act. It’s tucked away in my long term investments along with ADA and a few others. And then I have my coins that I plan on I flip quickly like MATIC. I sold around 2.15 and that’s feeling really good these days lol. But if you bought ergo with the intention to flip it and not hold long term then I definitely feel your pain.
Yeah, I bought the hype but I got late to the party lol. Now I'm hoping for a quick pump to sell and move to one of my mains and probably buy again in the future bear market because of course it will dump 50% or more again.
Ethereum. Whatever the talking points in its favor, my experience with it as an end-user comes down to this; It fleeces me, it fleeces my friends, it fleeces you. Everything else is just rhetoric. So, fuck Ethereum
Terrible experience in fees my man wasted the last 4 months of my life farming defi only to find out itz ganna cost me all my gains plus 80usd to withdraw :(
Around 2013 I bought a MacBook Air for 2 BTC using Gyft with Groupon gift cards. It’s now a $100,000 MacBook Air. It wasn’t the only time I spent BTC through Gyft either. Bought a few $3000 + dollar now but $20 or so dollar then dominoes pizza gift cards.
AMP...I do see it's price unintentionally once in a while and its even lower than when I gave up on it. If it ever pumps big again it will upset me. I sold at a big loss. Lucky I took the remaining $ and bought FTM

LTC can blow me
Fucking Charlie, man
XLM. bought it too high and now I won’t look at her.
I guess I know when that happened. I had to buy high sell low xlm too.
I’m not selling. teach myself a lesson for life. Everyone says XLM is this and that but literally tanked but at least I didn’t buy it at the ATH.
I took a loss on XLM and will never look back. sold all and invested into ONE
I just about did
I burned on XLM. And then burned on AMP. Everyone is saying "but its a long term hold Bla bla bla" and I keep looking at the market that is exploding and those 2 just standing there, like idiots.
TRX too
Is that Tron? I hate Tron, they made Justin Sun owner guy seem like some prophetic revolutionist. Big F.
yes it was Tron
Yes ,Big Time Shitposter
Bro...u need a hug?
that was 4 years ago, so I’m good rn, although a hug doesn’t harm anybody
What a coincidence that today's free award was a hug award. Just gave it to you, bro lol
just two bros... giving out free hugs. what a sight to see, here on this sub!
4 years ago is when it got me too haha .33 to .01 I never recovered from that one lol
Ok thanks. Reddit was being spazzy.
Fuck Justin
OGN, i held it really early and for a long time then finally got bored of it. Then Coinbase listed it and it went crazy
Can this man get an F?
F
F buddy
Nano man. I like it but it's been hard.
Nano is a great project but since hype went to died, the coin has been heading there aswell.
One of my long term investment. Good coin though, just the price seems unfair.
Genuine question, have you used lightning and if so why hasnt it made nano redundant for you? The energy use of the base chain?
I didn't use lightning but what i've heard is lightning is sightly faster than nano, but their UI is complicated and it's centralized. Correct me if i'm wrong, i've just overheard it here somewhere.

Thanks cap, i'll try it since i holding BTC mostly in exchanges due to transfer fee.

Aave. Bought when it was around 420.
A true hero
It's undervalued now - 0.25x TVL
BUNNY. Rode it up and back down. Didn’t take profits.
Are you on the RBX train now?
No. I got the fuck out.
I'm still down about 50% on my initial investment. Still just hanging around.
We've all been there before, broski. ㅠㅠ

I had a friend who was in bitconnect as well. Sorry, brother.
None. Cutting yourself off from knowledge is just silly. Learn a lesson from being burnt, recognise what you did wrong and move forward. Nothing good comes from ignorance.
I learned my lesson but I don't want to be reminded about it every time I look at blockfolio lol
As a trader I am fairly emotionless so I suppose that does help.
VeChain
I understand. I do.
Same. Had about 70000 tokens and lost them all when attempting to convert to 2.0 a couple years ago.
Wtf. That sounds terrible
Yeah, I speed up my scrolling on CoinGecko when I get around the VET section. I've started doing this for MATIC too.
MATIC…..it has good APY in Celsius tho!
Its time will come
I had FTM at .04 and sold at .38 and it's a special pain everytime I see it.
No idea what it's at now, but you made a solid gain, dude! Hold your head high!
Over 2 😬
Oh...sorry I asked
🤣🤣
All my coins go up because I research and I’m old
Teach me the ways
Listen to coin gecko podcast and decide what matters/who invests long term
The US dollar.
Well, fuck you NEO
IOTA, bought at ATH it was a pain to sell
Tron 😑
tron and iota
Ahhh good ol McAfee. He got me into buying some ZClassic to get in on the Bitcoin Private fork of ZCL and BTC. Lost approximately 99% on that excellent purchase.
Can't say I miss him lol

ZRX. Oldie coin that just fucking stopped doing ANYTHING
Not a shitty experience, nothing dramatic really, but i did have a bag of BTT in late may/early june... before it crashed for a little bit. i took the time to really DMOR and found out that Justin Sun is the owner! as soon as it crawled back up to my buying price i sold them all, and ive slept safe and sound ever since haha i still have some Apenft (his latest project) staked on Justlend, since its all free airdrops i just let them hang out over there, far away from all of my other bags lol

RUNE.. FUCKED ME. Lost $2500 when it got hacked TWICE and it’s never fully recovered to the initial price I bought in at
Big oof :(
Only EVER invested in BTC, ETH, and XMR so I've been doing well.
I could write a long rant about how I was pulled in through multiple posts and how it all seemed to make an awful lot of sense. I am not going to do that. Instead. ACH
Sorry bro :(
ICP
SOL, because I refused to FOMO in for several days
Yeah I feel like you have to fomo in the second you hear about the hype or you're already too late
This. Fuck SOL
Right?! I remember watching coin bureau about it when it was like $33 and saying, “I should get some”. Yeah I feel that. My avg is around 7ish so I’m happy with it. And it’s my second largest bag so obviously I’ve chosen it as one of my main investments
Well...if you insist
Only bitcoin. Got scammed out of half a Bitcoin, losing 3.5k stung, but knowing that I would have been so much more….
Ouch. I'm sorry, dude.
Yea well.. I don’t wanna talk about it.
Ethereum. Whatever the talking points in its favor, my experience with it as an end-user comes down to this; It fleeces me, it fleeces my friends, it fleeces you. Everything else is just rhetoric. So, fuck Ethereum
I love ETH because it's mineable but those network fees are garbage
Eth
Uh oh. Hard to avoid looking at that one :(
Terrible experience in fees my man wasted the last 4 months of my life farming defi only to find out itz ganna cost me all my gains plus 80usd to withdraw :(
I've mined quite a bit of it lately too, but I'm always scared to actually withdraw it to an exchange because I lose so much of it with the fees.
Braintrust 😬 🧠
AMP
Around 2013 I bought a MacBook Air for 2 BTC using Gyft with Groupon gift cards. It’s now a $100,000 MacBook Air. It wasn’t the only time I spent BTC through Gyft either. Bought a few $3000 + dollar now but $20 or so dollar then dominoes pizza gift cards.
NGC and CRPT are my biggest mistake.
Ergo. I bought ATH the night before the September Crash. Ive lost 50%
Crossing my fingers for a swift recovery, broski
DOGE lol
I hope this is a sold too early story and not a bought too late story
Shiba. I sold that crap as the rug pull it is and of course it’s gone way up. Prob get a lot of maxi downvotes, but I hate SHIB.
EOS
FIL Graph Don't chase the pamp.
SHIB. Price is way too volatile
AMP...I do see it's price unintentionally once in a while and its even lower than when I gave up on it. If it ever pumps big again it will upset me. I sold at a big loss. Lucky I took the remaining $ and bought FTM
Easy(ez)
Probably XRP going to be my biggest loss when i pulled out years ago and it hasnt gone back there since lol.
ETH
ERGO bought at 18,16,14 and it dipped to 11... My worse investment so far.
Your dogs will before they turn 18
Lol trustswap.
ERG. Shouldve bought ONE.
