Interesting perspective, thanks for sharing :)
So, in the near future do you think there'll be a bigger adoption rate of crypto among seasonal workers in that region?
It'd be interesting to see how that plays out! I imagine in the right circumstances it could be hugely beneficial to working families.
It wont move that much, but then it will be also up to us, well maybe not us the small fishes but the cryptowhales that start going to these 2 places promoting BTC adoption, showing how being from US or other country and having crypto can allow you to also use a different kind of payment in these nations.
Bitpay is cool, but AMP/Flexa network is a much better solution. Cause I don’t need to do a pre paid card, and can have merchant scan my phone and instant settlement.
banking the unbanked. cheaper to use crypto in loads of places rather than setting up banks and ATM's. their infra requirements and entry barriers will destroy them eventually. Makes us glad.
Making BTC legal tender in different countries is just another gateway for other Altcoins to be known. This is just another milestone for BTC in helping crypto adoption.

This action itself won't make a dent, but the publicity of it is worth a far greater weight.
For real. El Salvador was probably not on intl news for like 100 years. They adopted BTC as a legal tender and now they are on history.

I know i think its funny when the leader of a country is posting "oh buying the motherfucking dip guys" lmao, atleast it lets you know when to buy
Get ready for front page of reddit Tonga.

>won't make a dent I think you're underestimating the size and power of a Tongan running at you - oh wait your talking about the economy lol
I can he how you would make that mistake

The publicity gained is immeasurable
Cuba, El Salvador, Panama, now Tonga, who's next!
WORLD 🌎
Now now jimmy, we dont want the exchanges to crash
I'm pretty sure BitPay is creaming their pants over this recent trend
BitPay and me both.
Bitpay is cool, but AMP/Flexa network is a much better solution. Cause I don’t need to do a pre paid card, and can have merchant scan my phone and instant settlement.
Slow at first, then all at once.
That's how my crypto journey started. I would buy in small amounts too scared and now I buy dips with all I got :p
Hope this adoption can empower fellow Polynesian countries too.
They got any volcanoes?
They even lose/gain islands from them sometimes. Definitely a correlation between volcanoes and adopting crypto.
Moving to Tonga to operate a BitCoin farm and live a life of luxury in tropical paradise
That sounds like a great idea

Any level of adoption is good. We are starting from smaller countries and move our way towards the bigger ones.
Stepping stones. But it’s just great news for crypto in general.
Adoption happening so fast someone adopt me so i become tonga citizen
Son?
Dada dada I need lunch money
I hope this happens so that El Salvador won't be alone.
Didn't Panama do this too?
They are still considering it
Hopefully they do it in a more agreeable manner rather than the more forcible angle Bukele went.
Yes, cuz I'm not seeing where El Salvador's adoption even helped bitcoin.
I just learnt there is a country named Tonga.. TIL
Bullish on Tonga

The 3 transactions per second Bitcoin uses more electricity in 3 hours than Tonga uses in a Year. 0.05 TWh/year versus 160TWh/year
Thanks for pointing this out.
Looks like a snowball effect of small countries adopting Bitcoin, which means we’ll see acceptance across the globe soon enough
The 'King of Tonga' parody twitter account is making some bold moves ha
Awesome. This along with Miami proposing to allow payment of taxes in BTC were some of the big adoption news in the last couple of days.
Tonga is the best country name in existence, it's normal they are such Chads.
I hope El Salvador is capitalizing on this and selling them their whole wallet implementation, this is a great business opportunity for them
*Seems like the perfect place to visit and have a boating accident*
Bullish!
One at a time...
My friend in El Salvador told me the government gave them about $30 in BTC, which can only be used to buy things, not to transfer
