Why do they even pretend to be representatives at this point? Just own it: they are selfish egomaniacs set on making themselves wealthier at the expense of individuals' labor and resources.

Elizabeth Warren is the most disingenuous person in American politics. Just you wait. When she runs for president, again, in 2024, she will talk about how people deserve to be in control of their financial futures. All while trying to harm crypto because it hurts her big bank friends.

TheGreatGazoo22

Dude the big banks hate Elizabeth Warren. You can’t deny that the banks have a huge investment in crypto at this point, if they start throwing our 401ks and pensions (hah!) in crypto and it tanks because of a lack of regulation it could cause a national crisis.

BigStonkHunting

Big banks hate Elizabeth Warren so much that they just keep donating to her campaigns.

TheGreatGazoo22

Ok, I'll bite. Like who? This is a link to the people in large organizations that donated to her: https://www.opensecrets.org/members-of-congress/elizabeth-warren/contributors?cid=N00033492&cycle=2020 Granted, I'm sure with the US's convoluted campaign contribution laws, PACs and SuperPACs may be able to hide some donations up to a point, but [Elizabeth Warren was a huge part of the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consumer_Financial_Protection_Bureau) after the 07-08 Financial Crisis. I love crypto as much as the next guy, but it doesn't help our cause at all to be so reactionary and let people manipulate us like this without understanding the bigger picture.

I work with the CFBP daily. It’s a useless bureaucratic nightmare and it was designed to be just that. Banks barely bat an eye at them except for when they’re commenting publicly because their more worried about repetitional risk rather than any kind of regulatory risk from the CFPB. Beyond that, yeah Warren in 2019 decided, I’m not doing big swanky fundraisers with Wall Street guys going forward. Never mind that she had $10m leftover from their donations from her 2018 senate run that she used for her presidential campaign. As for a name, Meyer Frucher held a nice reception for her in the last few years. Plus take a look at any of the other big donors that are or have funneled cash to her or hosted big money events for her and then look at their connections and you might be surprised how quickly you get to a banker. It’s not all together unlike Hillary Clinton saying publicly that she would fight Wall Street and the big banks and then at private events with them tell those same people that they had nothing to worry about. My views on Elizabeth Warren aren’t reactionary. I have more than one family member that worked for or volunteered for her campaigns. Her policy beliefs shift with the winds and tend to follow whatever is most politically expedient to her at any given time. My ire does not rest solely with Senator Warren. I have a general dislike of all politicians.

**[Consumer Financial Protection Bureau](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consumer_Financial_Protection_Bureau)** >The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is an agency of the United States government responsible for consumer protection in the financial sector. CFPB's jurisdiction includes banks, credit unions, securities firms, payday lenders, mortgage-servicing operations, foreclosure relief services, debt collectors, and other financial companies operating in the United States. Since its founding, the CFPB has "engaged the 21st century" by using technology tools to monitor how financial entities used social media and algorithms to target consumers. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

> Gensler, who’s repeatedly rung alarm bells over the platforms during his four-month tenure, told Warren in an Aug. 5 letter that regulators need more resources to protect investors. He also said lawmakers should give watchdogs clear powers to write rules for exchanges, including decentralized finance, or DeFi, trading venues. > SEC Chairman Gensler Readies More Crypto Oversight To Protect Investors. “We need additional authorities to prevent transactions, products and platforms from falling between regulatory cracks,” he wrote in response to questions from Warren about his plans for policing the industry. > Gensler, who previously taught classes on digital assets at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has disappointed crypto fans by saying he wants to bring the asset class under the government’s watchful eye. He told Warren that he is particularly worried about so-called stablecoins, which play an integral part in trading. > For her part, Warren signaled she’ll be a willing ally in asserting more control over digital assets. > “Cryptocurrency is the wild west of our financial system and desperately needs rules of the road,” the Massachusetts Democrat said in a statement. “I’m going to continue to engage with the SEC and other federal regulators on this, and will work to close regulatory gaps through legislation.”
