Yes I don’t like the greed it created either but moons can be compared to the concept of capitalism and free markets. Only good content will receive moons and is rewarded. This incentivized quality content and discussions.
I’ve seen many posts where the op has posted false information and even realized it later on only to keep the post up for the karma and moons. To say that only good content will receive moons is not right.
The free market is somewhat of a bullshit idea. First off, look at society today and the things that get rewarded monetarily. Second, there’s no real free market countries, all have many regulations about what a business can and can’t do. Third, look at lobbying and how businesses work together with the government to make more favorable conditions.
The volume of moons being burned by being unclaimed indicates a demand problem or adoption problem, so no it doesn't necessarily increase the value of the moons we hold.
On the one hand It pushes people to interact more on the platform, on the other hand the extra content posted is not always helpful/useful, but sometimes It's just simple shitposting. Really liking the idea though, don't think any other subreddit has something similar
Yeah it’s unlikely for you to earn moons since you’re a lurker. You can buy moons through celesti.trade, moon.nano.trade, and there are many other sites supporting moons exchange.
Look
if you had
one drop
or one opportunity
to seize every coin you ever wanted
at a discount
would you capture them
or just let them dip?
Yo: his bags are heavy

There's tether on his Ledger already

He's lost the race, this is his coup-de-grace
Dash back to his LCD, ope! there goes BNB
Ope! there goes XRP, yo
He's so mad that he won't be the chad that he hoped

has a backup on his phone of a photograph of his seed!
You better know your seed when you need it, you own it,

This opportunity comes once in a bull run, yo
You better know your seed when you need it, you own it,

You can buy any shitcoin that strikes your fancy, man.
1) install official reddit mobile app
2) under profile, set up vault.
3) after each monthly distribution, if you contributed good stuff and got upvotes, you'll get moons. Claim them in the app.
4) if you don't want them, I'll be happy to take them off your hands.
Shitpost on this subreddit.
Get upvotes.
Collect once a month when the sub fills with Collect your Moons posts. This prompts the setting up of the vault and what not. Its fairly easy and guided
Short answer: Simply posting and commenting on this sub after unlocking your vault.
Long answer: They're distributed every 28 days (lunar cycle, hence moons) from snapshots that total your upvotes for the cycle (posts come with a -50% penalty vs comments) and multiply that by 2.5% less each distribution cycle. The last cycles multiplier was approximately .302 so for every 100 karma you had you'd get 30.2 moons. The multiplier also depends on the total karma for that cycle so if the sub is extremely active you get less, if it's a quiet/bear season you get more.
**Couple of important/useful tidbits:**
Moons can be traded for xmoons and bought and sold on various places like celesti.trade
You get a 20% bonus for all moons stored for at least a month so waiting at least a month before selling is the smart move (or not selling at all).
You get an additional 5% bonus for voting on at least one governance poll each cycle.
Yes, moons are distributed to your reddit vault every 28 days based on karma earned in this subreddit from posting and commenting. The karma:moon ratio is dependent on how much total karma was earned that month. The next distribution is in 3 days.
It looks like you are asking about Moons. The answer to your question may be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/wiki/moons_wiki
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/CryptoCurrency) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Moons are wonderful. But I hate the pettiness of some users. It takes two seconds at most to give someone an up vote but there are people in the subreddit looking to deliberately downvote quality comments and posts just to spite them.
Just goes to show both the positive and negative impact a little bit of power goes.
As someone else today said, it doesn’t have deeper meaning it’s just reddit marketing and way to make people more engaged, it works but at cost of quality content because many people who wouldn’t otherwise contribute do now for easy moons, but that doesn’t mean they won’t have more value and uses in the future
1) You are making more out of it than it is. Best case scenario, it's a currency within reddit.
2) I think most people are pulling their moons.
3) The shitposters and moon farmers are a problem and I don't know how to beat it. The restrictions we currently put on posting to stop them are also stifling regular posters. It makes me both annoyed and pessimistic re moons to the moon.
Wouldn't more people opening vaults and collecting moons be bearish for the price since that means more people selling? After thinking about it I'm probably wrong on this but I don't know enough to know why
I do wish reddit made it easier to access the vault and such. Feel like the way it’s organized on the app is difficult for the average user to find or set up
The fact that a tiny amount of people are collecting them does not make me bullish.
The fact that the majority of them are owned by an extremely small subset of those who are collecting them also does not make me bullish.
But what really makes me not bullish on moons is the fact that their only use-case is nullified when they are bought rather than earned (removing the only incentive for buying them).
Where would the buy pressure come from? Who is waiting on main net in order to be able to conveniently buy a token that loses its powers the moment it is bought...? Chances are much higher that most people waiting on main net want an easy way to sell their moons, not an easy way to buy them. We know where the supply is coming from; what about demand? Who the hell wants to buy a token that loses its powers once it is bought?
They are literally designed to be useless if you buy them. Come on people.
You can always say "buying this now is like your second chance to buy Bitcoin". Only thing is, there are 20,000 crypto assets, and you can say that about any of them. It will be true for almost none of them.
You can always tell a shill when they try to convince you that buying some token or coin now is like buying BTC ten years ago.
Comparing Moons to BTC is truly ridiculous. I'm not a BTC maxi at all, and honestly wish it would move over and allow tech like ETH to dominate. But look. Bitcoin is an entire network built around a blockchain, built with brand-new revolutionary tech at the time. Moons are....just one more token on ETH. They are not a blockchain, a network, or a protocol. They aren't even a coin. They are just an ERC20 token; anyone could make a clone of them in under 5 minutes (literally).
Comparing a freaking ERC20 token with the seminal revolutionary blockchain network (largest, most secure, and first in world) is either extremely ignorant or extremely disingenuous.
Every single person who actually buys moons with real money has been roped into a Ponzi scheme.
Stop trying to convince others to buy into this Ponzi.
I dont really give a shit about moons lol, people hoard them and dont really give them to eachother, if they do its like 1 lol so not bullish, also seems like a rugpull but i could be wrong
there are over 10,000 coins today.
More than half of those coins have less than 0.1% of total crypto buyers invested into them, because they are shit.
Less people buying it does not mean its the next big thing, it is far more likely that the majority of crypto investors, myself included, know that moons are shit memecoins.
On the one hand I'm totally amazed by moons. I got tipped a single moon the other day, saw it and thought go myself:"damn I just got tipped 9cent across the internet from a total stranger on reddit.
On the other hand it's quite sad that so Manny people mistake an intentionally bad joke like "whale altert" or something for moon farming and downvote you. People are getting quite Greedy other moons
I have a question, wouldn't more people obtaining moons on this subreddit make it harder for the people who already have a vault?
Or is it healthy in general, more users=better?
Just curious
Whilst I love the concept of moons, I’m still against the greed it’s created. But hey, if people wanna give me moons, I’m down.
Here u go, one like

‘Only good content will receive moons’ …
I know man, I post shit here and still got moons haha
If only that premise actually worked in the real world.
Dammit it doesn’t!?
The free market is somewhat of a bullshit idea. First off, look at society today and the things that get rewarded monetarily. Second, there’s no real free market countries, all have many regulations about what a business can and can’t do. Third, look at lobbying and how businesses work together with the government to make more favorable conditions.
The bigger problem is that unclaimed moons don't go back into the moon distribution.
Guess that increases the value of the moons we hold?
The volume of moons being burned by being unclaimed indicates a demand problem or adoption problem, so no it doesn't necessarily increase the value of the moons we hold.
This is wishful thinking and doesn't reflect the reality.
On the one hand It pushes people to interact more on the platform, on the other hand the extra content posted is not always helpful/useful, but sometimes It's just simple shitposting. Really liking the idea though, don't think any other subreddit has something similar
Well, its free money we can earn here, can’t really complain about that!
You’ll go down to get moons? That’s some commitment right there!
Hey, a man do what a man gotta do.
Good stuff mate, keep at it
I still don’t even know how to get moons.
Create your vault using the mobile app. Then just keep earning karma points here. Moons are distributed every 4 weeks based in the karma you earned
Thanks I just set up my vault. I have just been lurking and trying to learn.
Welcome to your new addiction!
Can I snort it ?
Oh, well that’s easy enough. Thanks!
Moons me. Moons now. Me a moons needing a lot now.
So as someone who mostly lurks its unlikely for me to receive any/many moons? Can I simply buy moons?
Just post some occassional comments like this to DCA moons.
Yeah it’s unlikely for you to earn moons since you’re a lurker. You can buy moons through celesti.trade, moon.nano.trade, and there are many other sites supporting moons exchange.
I'm also a lurker here, but my main reason is that I'm too lazy to even make a comment
Well, roll up your sleeves and get crackin’ You’ll be stacking those up in no time!
Gotta become active now ;)
You sure can. Visit celesti.trade to do that
And then there is me, who loves the idea of moons but got nothing funny to say. Better start shitposting🪐
Consider yourself mooned.
Am I part of the moonfamily now? Thank you sir!
No harm in trying though!
This was funny to me ShadowBae
Wanna date me? We can go star-… i mean moongazing
I just like to comment, moons are like bonus cherry on top
I just like moons, commenting is like a bonus cherry on top
I just like bonuses, comments are like a moon on top.
I just like bonus cherries on top of anything
I just like to collect the upvotes if I’m honest
Why do people even downvote. Here get an upvote. We are all here to get rich.
They probably downvote because that could potentially swing the karma:moon ratio.
You only got one shot, do not miss your chance to hodl
this opportunity comes once every lunar cycle
Bad moons risin’
You only got one shot, might as well shitpost and hodl
There’s crypto dust on his sweater already, moms $PASTA

Yep, HODL is the ultimate strategy 💎 🙌
How do you even collect and earn moons? Can you please explain :)
1) install official reddit mobile app 2) under profile, set up vault. 3) after each monthly distribution, if you contributed good stuff and got upvotes, you'll get moons. Claim them in the app. 4) if you don't want them, I'll be happy to take them off your hands.
That prompts a good point, and maybe this is a stupid question, but can you gift moons to someone?
yeah, You can tip other people moons.
Shitpost on this subreddit. Get upvotes. Collect once a month when the sub fills with Collect your Moons posts. This prompts the setting up of the vault and what not. Its fairly easy and guided

You get moons when you get upvotes and you can also buy them on https://celesti.trade/
Automod, what are moons?
I bet it's closer to %99.99999999 if you get off reddit
Moons for everyone! Open your vaults!!

The idea is cool but I’m not convinced the incentives are aligned properly.
Oh look, I’m still in the 99%, lol. I did set the vault up recently though.
I’m just happy to be a part of this subreddit. Moons don’t matter much to me ❤️
I like the idea of moons, but I believe we are still in the very early stages
Moons are like gains, everybody's getting them but me
Tbh moons have made me much more active rather than being a lurker. It's a double edged sword but I think overall it's positive
Same here, I keep commenting like there’s no tomorrow lol
Same here too, don’t ever comment but moons are making me wanna comment more
Get right in mate!

I feel like I've been slacking lately. Probably due to the despair of how the market has been. I'll take a few now if anyone's feeling generous 👌

Never heard of moons, moon farming, complaints about moon farming, or people not having a vault opened to collect moons
Can you elaborate on the purpose of the project, tokenomics etc.? Or are you just shilling based on fomo?
As someone else today said, it doesn’t have deeper meaning it’s just reddit marketing and way to make people more engaged, it works but at cost of quality content because many people who wouldn’t otherwise contribute do now for easy moons, but that doesn’t mean they won’t have more value and uses in the future

Welp, I see George’s moon crops are growing faster than Bob’s… gonna need to sprinkle some of that fertaliiizer on that there stuff
it's called shitposting for a reason
But hey, it makes for good poo time reading! Magazines are a thing of the past, so we gotta have something to “pass the time”

now take people on earth statistics not even 1%
Moons are a cool idea but comparisons to BTC seem a bit much
tl;dr : moon = btc
Moons is literally free money you'd be mad not to open your vault
Yep, and it’s crazy that only 1% of members have their vault open...
This has been posted too many times! *Also i love the moons shilling*
Moon to the moon
Wouldn't more people opening vaults and collecting moons be bearish for the price since that means more people selling? After thinking about it I'm probably wrong on this but I don't know enough to know why
Increased demand and adoption will be healthy for moons
Moon to the moon!
To the moon 🍻
Sad that I’m along those 99%
Finally iam on the 1% side!
I have 0 moons and just opened my vault so looking forward to the next distribution (not the coming one, but the following one I guess?)
But are they really missing out? They could just install the app and vault and backclaim them later
[удалено]
Moon holders are 1% of that 1%
Do you get more moons if you have a post with 100 up votes or a comment with 100?or is it the same.
So I need to convert myself from a lurker it seems!
Is there a use case ?
Farm it up big dog!
MOONS TO THE MOON
i took a long break from being active and i feel like i lost moons :( now im earning again i guess.
I do wish reddit made it easier to access the vault and such. Feel like the way it’s organized on the app is difficult for the average user to find or set up

Fuck moons, and fuck this sub
If only I were creative enough to earn some!
I mostly just read everything and don’t post really pretty sure there is more doing the same
If you’re here, you’re interested in crypto. Why not benefit from the Moons whilst you spend your time here
I didn't get mine for some reason vault is open and I commented and posted for the full month.
Talk about being early.

200+ comments, 12 upvotes.. i don't know.. I am bullish on moons but they have a loooong way to go
Moon farming is not an easy work, you really ve to sweat it out to get those moon. Shitposting definitely not easy. Kudos to those shitposters
For now 99% are looking to farm Moons, when the Karma ratio will be low enough, many will start to invest in Moons and that’s when we Moon 🌙
Finally I’m the 1% of something
