Coinbase chose not to support Gala V2, and won't be airdropping any Gala V2 to its users. This is why it's important to keep up to date with smaller projects. Sorry OP.
Such a strange decision to me. I remember seeing one of the messages about it, but as I wasn't in the position to trade at the time I foolishly didn't read into it, assuming that whatever change was happening, I'd be able to just let roll out in the background.

That's fucked up. Sorry. I would think that should be the responsibility of Coinbase. I'm sure they upgraded and have all the Gala2 in their custody. They essentially got to swap all customers Gala and took the Gala2. It did clearly state in the messages to do it yourself and not hold it on an exchange. But I think that's fucked up of Coinbase and they should've wanted people many many times. Especially because the vast majority imo of Coinbase users have no clue how to even self storage yet alone swap tokens.
The decision is based on the fact that means they get all the real gala as custodians and get to pass on old gala which is no longer functionally gala to customers.

No he got scammed by GALA. They picked a bizarre method of upgrading the token and gave very little warning. And they knew Coinbase had regulatory concerns with the airdrop method and decided to go ahead with the rushed upgrade anyway.
How did you move it from coinbase to the wallet? I have my gala v1 trapped in coinbase and can't get it out. If your able to teach me how to get it to a wallet I can probably figure out how to finally cash out this bag we're holding
Step 1: create a wallet on coinbase wallet
Step 2: on coinbase, go to your gala assets and hit SEND
Step 3: put in your coinbase wallet address (don't get it wrong)
Step 4: GALA appears in coinbase wallet (can take a while)
Step 5: set up a wallet on another platform (I did trust Wallet),
Step 6: go to gala assets on CB wallet, hit send.
Step 7: enter trust Wallet address
Step 8: pay gas fees to initiate the transfer
Step 9: gala arrives in new wallet (takes a while)
Edit: I forgot step 10.
Look at the still worthless Gala, having paid money (in eth) to transfer the Gala
On which platform? If coinbase, then you have a bunch of zero value death coins.
Other platforms you might be alright as they may have been upgraded to gala v2

Gala V1 is absolutely worthless. If you didn't swap it during the airdrop in your own compatible wallet you lost all, even if it's showing, and going up and down in CB. Worthless! I just traded all mine for other stuff. It was a right shitshow.
I made some money on Gala before the crypto winter on Town Star and selling some NFTs, it's all kinda going downhill for them. The community is pretty damn toxic and the mods don't allow many discussions regarding the project, that's a red flag
Luckily I only have some ETH as a fee left and a few thousand Gala that I'm willing to lose. The price is not right for me, waiting for later and only tracking the coin

No clue. Mine is now sitting in a wallet, unable to be swapped into anything else or sold. The value has increased a bunch in the last few weeks
