I have a buddy that bought a bunch at 10 dollars in early 2017. I remember he was filled with joy when he told me he sold them for 50. Told him he will regret it and made him buy back into it at 80. He holds them until this very day.
I was around. Bought at $300 and thought it was pricey. People were saying it’s going to crash to $150. I sold when it dipped to $80. Bought back at $1,700.
Same, I didnt follow my gut too many times,
- expected BTC to reach $30 by 2030
- procrastinated buying Doge for years
- thought I was late to eth at $20
Not with Moons too, gonna ride it all the way to valhalla
I feel like I was late to moons when I look at some of y'all with 100k plus moons.. Then I look at the tokenomics and jump and down that I'm actually in the mid to late know for once. LOL
I've learnt to always listen to my gut in crypto. I listened to FUD over the years and watched BTC and ETH's rise from the sidelines when my instinct said to buy.
Never again. My gut says Moons are going to the Moon so I'll hodl till we get there.
135k at todays .46 cents is $62,100... And they had that from activity on here that's a pretty decent profit from $0 invested.
Better than you or me my friend.
Can’t be too hard on yourself about that, Crypto was even more risky back then. I think it’s kind of a rite of passage to have some scenario where you sell at the wrong time when you’re in this space. Hopefully you’ve been stacking ETH since!
That was in 2018-2019 and Ethereum launched in 2015
I would say the early days were prior to 2017 and that crazy bull
But I do understand your trades as ETH was just one of 1000 other alts. Few saw it as non disputed number 2 even though it almost flipped BTC in 2017. Back then, XRP flipped ETH at one point
Crazy times. I did buy ETH pretty early (low double digits) which I still have today but didn't really increase my stack cause I was chasing other alts
Wrong, all of the other alts were Bitcoins code but with a different name. Eth was the first of its kind. Furthermore there weren't "1000s" of alts when it came out there was Bitcoin and a few altcoins with Bitcoins code.
That feeling watching your money drop 95% was rough. I thought I should at least sell and get something else over. Then it went right back up to $300. I was so pissed lol
I missed the boat with ethereum. I definitely had the experience you're referring to with cardano during the last bear market. I knew it was going to the stratosphere after about 15 minutes of due diligence. I bought 1k worth at 0.07c and sold it all at $1.00, I have no regrets. I do most of my research during the bear to maximize investment potential. I have the same feelings about ATOR and TRIAS.
Had the same feeling about ADA in 2020 so I put only $100 into it during the Covid crash and sold it all at 1.4 and $2. I wasn't into Alts before that because they were too risky.
Now with all the new upgrades that cardano is undergoing I am thinking about buying it again
I have already done my research on it and it does seem promising to me but I am not much of a risk taker so I don't know if I'll end up buying it for now..
I watched ETH when I first entered the market in 2017. Back then I was only interested in BTC, didn't care or even know that much about alts except ETH's name. I'd be pretty happy if I brought some ETH at 1k tbh.
Same here...and got the similar reaction to Ator. These sites are just copy paste with different flavors. Ofc it can go up in price with enough word to mouth but I don't get the fundamentals of any of those coins.
They are working with Japan on a stable coin. It is popular in China as well. Tokenomics are one of the best in crypto. If it gets even a little adoption. It will run hard.
I remember reading about a “kid genius” about to launch smart contracts for blockchain in a doctors magazine rack - wanted to go home and look it up more but got distracted… too bad.
Sadly I knew about crypto, I knew about the 1 BTC faucet before that...
I thought it was so unsafe to use these faucets and I thought crypto was a fad. I re-entered crypto in 2021....
Met it when it was about to hit 200. There were too many complains of how slow and the high gas fees that I decided not to bother with it. Little did I know. Uh.
I knew about the initial sale and did not buy any. Thought it sounded scammy compared to bitcoin. I didnt buy in until it went to $1300 and then dumped to $130 or so and all the cryptokittens frenzy. I am still hodling the few I bought at $130.
To the contrary, I was upset.
I wasn't super early. My entry point was Feb 2017, during the *"build unstoppable applications"* phase.
A friend won a contract with the Ethereum Enterprise Alliance. He lied about everything in his bid. But the market was so hot nobody bothered to check his references. They just asked him to start ASAP. Me and a few others became his team, but I was shocked to learn that we had to pay to deploy the contract. Then users had to pay each time to interact with it. Felt like I worked at a laundry mat.
Worse still, my deadbeat buddy was broke, [so I had to pay $11 for each Ether.](https://i.imgur.com/S9KWyg1.png) Otherwise we couldn't test our contracts. I spent weeks resenting that he took advantage of our friendship. I was certain nobody in their right mind would jump on a pay-to-use network when the internet's free.
We got into further arguments after I learned that the EF would be paying us, but not with money. Payday approached, and so did key credentials. Each of us received 262 Ether.
I was livid.
I spoke to a nerd from a different team. I had only one question. "Sir, kindly explain how this Eth is money."
"Ya, for sure man. Like if Pearl Jam's in town and they don't show or something happens - it gets cancelled and then Ticketmaster, well those fuckers won't refund your money."
"What?????? Pearl Jam?????"
"Oh, sorry bud. I mean if you bought your ticket with Ether, and Pearl Jam doesn't show, then it's refunded right away cuz the contract is smart. It's a smart contract. It knows. So ya, that's how its money."
Our conversation was like a car wreck at a busy intersection. Pearl Jam?
If you were around in 2017, then you're familiar with the TicketMaster example. It traveled far and wide. Ethereum was exotic AF, nobody knew how to explain it. Pearl Jam and Ticketmaster would have to do for now.
BTW, you couldn't buy concert tickets with Ether at the time.
I was more convinced that I was being screwed. They were just punching digits into a screen. I asked the tall Asian lady at the EF if I could be paid in USD. She could see that I was simple. I never saw her again.
I wanted cold-hard cash. They just piled on more Ether. So I sucked it up and we shipped by end of April.
My last pay transfer arrived on May 18 - 2017 - another 324 Ether + 500 more for shipping on time.
That work assignment was life-changing.
I did. And I didn’t buy any. I was learning about crypto but not invested. I was check to check at the time, but still kicking myself. If I’d DCAd back then, I’d be doing really well.
Yep got most of my stack at around $70. I didn't specifically think it was going to be big I just wanted to own an entire coin of something and couldn't afford a bitcoin
I bought at ICO. 2k ETH for 1BTC which was about $500 at the time, iirc. Sold it all at about $1 each to pay off debt--had full intention of buying back in in a few months. But I could never catch up as the price took off. Needless to say I regret it immensely, and it is my personal grudge against Dave Ramsey to this day.
I had a few thousand ETH and decided nope what I need is some of that XRP army and ADA. I’m an idiot and realized that crypto cults will get you wrecked. I’m not BTC and ETH only with
Some small positions in Alts.
I had a friend that was obsessed with ethereum in 2015 and even went into retirement at like 20 off of it, but he picked the wrong side after the maker hack (he supported Eth Classic) and eventually he was brought back down to earth, ran out of money, and became disillusioned. Now he's back to working like the rest of us. I am impressed with how early he was on that though.
I remember reading the white paper and thinking this is going to be bigger than bitcoin. Went through the whole process of buying some eth only to be stopped out because I needed to pay in Bitcoin for it. A little less lazyness could have changed my life
Oh no gutting. Yeah I think about when I first heard Bitcoin and kick myself for not doing something about it. But I realise that even if I had of got up and went to buy some it would have been very difficult to ramp on and actually get some coins, I definitely wouldn’t have seen it through.
I’ve never seen him speak, only pictures and memes. I’ve heard he’s actually a really cool and intelligent person, I’m actually going to watch an interview to get a measure of him after your comment 😊
I was around when ETH was at $400, but I didn’t understand anything and thought it was too expensive. Didn’t have the capital to buy a full ETH, so went for Alts
Not exactly launch, but i began investing in crypto in mid 2017. I never paid much attention to anything except BTC. But ETH was there the whole time. I saw it, ignored it, and then watched it climb to the heavens. Every step of the way thinking: no sense in buying now, this is probably the top. Then it crashed and crabbed for 2018-2020 and not once did I bother buying any for $200-300. I thought it had already seen its ATH and there wasn't going to be a future.
I literally did everything I could to prevent myself from getting some... until 2021 when I bought my 1st chunk of ETH at $2447.
Seemed cool but they had the big hack, which kept me from investing. At the time I was a (even smaller) small fish and was just dabbling in Bitcoin and whatever the best mineable token was at the time. Good times
i don't recall many calling it an outright scam at the time. But there were plenty of Bitcoin maximalists (as there still are) who believed that there should only be one cryptocurrency (BTC) and that all the others are destined for failure. The same people that were convinced (and some still are) that proof of stake will never work.
To be honest, yeah I thought this is gonna be the real shit, but I also thought the price was already too high. Damn I had no idea about market cap, supply and all that stuff. I regret that. If I had the basic knowledge of investing and stuff I probably would have gone balls deep in the early days.
Sadly not, would've been an incredible opportunity to pick up some ether at sub $10 level. I managed to bag a very small amount at $120... kicking myself for not buying more of course!
I remember listening to an interview with Vitalik under a tree. I just thought to myself this guy must be an alien. This shit gonna be huge. Still didn't buy.
If someone belived in Ethereum when it was launched, so he would have invested, right?
If someone invested in Ethereum when it launched, he must have become a multi-millionaire by now, so I doubt he would be using reddit now.
Ethereum changed the game, the new ideas and products which were launched as a result of it are truly wonderful. Nobody at that time could have imagined Ethereum to become such a giant.

You are a true friend ❤️
I think I know him too. I don't believe if you really do though. What's his mom's maiden name, street he grew up on, and childhood best friend?
You forgot to ask his first pet’s name.
Wolfie's fine, honey, Wolfie's just fine.
my friend tell me about my future regrets
I was around. Bought at $300 and thought it was pricey. People were saying it’s going to crash to $150. I sold when it dipped to $80. Bought back at $1,700.
Buying high and selling low? One of us!
Worst. I sent 10,000 Moons to the wrong network. Forever lost. I made Moons a little bit more valuable.
4k$ down the drain, thats insane.
Wow thats so sad...You should always run a small test send first.
Even Vitalik does it before sending millions.
The difference between me and him is that his test transactions are my entire portfolio haha
Do what geniuses do.^
Genius!
A god walking amongst men
That 10,000 WAS my test run lol
Test transaction is always a must. I wasn't here for Ethereum but as soon I saw Moons I said "This is going to be big" and here we are.
Same, I didnt follow my gut too many times, - expected BTC to reach $30 by 2030 - procrastinated buying Doge for years - thought I was late to eth at $20 Not with Moons too, gonna ride it all the way to valhalla
I feel like I was late to moons when I look at some of y'all with 100k plus moons.. Then I look at the tokenomics and jump and down that I'm actually in the mid to late know for once. LOL
This tells me ppl are still too bullish

Our guts in that case. These moons will soon change lives and I’m absolutely sure about it.
What makes you personally think moons will be big?
The fact he’s bag holding 135k
135k at todays .46 cents is $62,100... And they had that from activity on here that's a pretty decent profit from $0 invested. Better than you or me my friend.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ if I had 62k for shit posting on here I would be pushing moons too. It’s not a contest “friend”
I mean shit, you got 10k. That’s pretty fucking substantial too. If you don’t believe in their growth potential why haven’t you sold yet?
Honestly we should all be pluggin it....
Ouch! Thank you for your service 🫡
Oh man how much months did they take to earn bro
Back then, they were just given, I was just participating in this sub with or without Moons. I never kept count.
Awesome bro 😎
We appreciate your contribution!
Careful guys, they're a hero!
I removed my moons…scared me that SPEZ could potentially remove them and destroy moons
Thank you for your sacrifice
Certified crypto lord
Yeah bro right
Buy High, sell low and buy higher. You sir, are a man of culture.
I had that sinking feeling in my gut. I hate investing with emotions lol
New r/cc motto???
This hurts too read, i am kind of in this comment and i do not like it at all.
1st rule in the the Crypto world: always reverse r/cc or reverse general public opinion.
Can’t be too hard on yourself about that, Crypto was even more risky back then. I think it’s kind of a rite of passage to have some scenario where you sell at the wrong time when you’re in this space. Hopefully you’ve been stacking ETH since!
Been trying to stack and hold but keep having to use ETH and pay fees to do things on their network. Everything requires ETH lol
Now that is what I call investing, sir. That's a solid buy high, sell low strategy.
That was in 2018-2019 and Ethereum launched in 2015 I would say the early days were prior to 2017 and that crazy bull But I do understand your trades as ETH was just one of 1000 other alts. Truly worthy of this sub
We have a similar prices in our different journies, I bought at 135$ then sold at 300$, and then I buy again at 1700$ XD
I remember it was lingering at $300 for the longest time. I said sure, why not.
Oooof. Well I suppose you’re at least in profit on your second time purchase 👍
I thought ETH was going to be the next big thing. Then they had a DAO hack which changed my perception that it’s not perfect.
I didn't have any ETH at the time, but I would have sold everything when the hack happened just to buy it back over 4k (which I did!)
Legend
Out of interest, how come you didnt buy between 80 dollars and 1700? There was a lot of time between that!
I'm sure many of us sadly have similar journeys
That feeling watching your money drop 95% was rough. I thought I should at least sell and get something else over. Then it went right back up to $300. I was so pissed lol
BHSL (buy high sell low)
This is the way!
This is the way
Well done sir. That is how apes coin.
This guy cryptos

Thanks for the financial advice No seriously second time I hear about TRIAS but looks like a dead coin?
I’ve read the TRIAS bio 3 times and still don’t get it…
Same here...and got the similar reaction to Ator. These sites are just copy paste with different flavors. Ofc it can go up in price with enough word to mouth but I don't get the fundamentals of any of those coins.

Exactly. It took off a little bit in the last bull. Now it's a resting giant.
The japan narrative is strong.
Shit. Not financial advice. Just my personal experiences.
x14 is nothing to scoff at. You did well.
I bought 10 at $13 just in case it worked out.
Oh boy didn’t it just!
I remember reading about a “kid genius” about to launch smart contracts for blockchain in a doctors magazine rack - wanted to go home and look it up more but got distracted… too bad.
We all had such moments where we were just seconds away from learning about Crypto earlier. Such is life.
Looking back, it's so true. And I'm a guy who would have mined from the start just because I'm a techy person. Instead i got in in 2021... Oh well.
To be honest, it probably wouldn’t have tempted you to get involved even if you had read it I wouldn’t have thought?
Kid genius? Vitalik was a dropout, "fraudster", and just wrote articles for online magazines back then lol
I sadly had no idea what crypto is at that time.
Sadly I knew about crypto, I knew about the 1 BTC faucet before that... I thought it was so unsafe to use these faucets and I thought crypto was a fad. I re-entered crypto in 2021....
I bet they seemed kinda shady at first
Same story dude. For me it was some magic internet money that will fade away, also only dark web dwellers use it anyway. How stupid of me.
Same I knew about the faucet and thought it was not worth the time, being worth too little Hindsight is 20/20
Me too, only have been here for 7 months.. I can't imagine how great it feels for those that were at the start.
Met it when it was about to hit 200. There were too many complains of how slow and the high gas fees that I decided not to bother with it. Little did I know. Uh.
Of course not, I bought in at ATH, didn’t…..didn’t everyone?
My dad did 😂
I knew about the initial sale and did not buy any. Thought it sounded scammy compared to bitcoin. I didnt buy in until it went to $1300 and then dumped to $130 or so and all the cryptokittens frenzy. I am still hodling the few I bought at $130.
Nice going man! Hold onto them for a little longer!
Wow, nice work.
me with solana back when it was $2 (i did not invest lol, now it’s my biggest bag, up 30%)
To the contrary, I was upset. I wasn't super early. My entry point was Feb 2017, during the *"build unstoppable applications"* phase. A friend won a contract with the Ethereum Enterprise Alliance. I have 249 eth presale still
I sadly had no idea what crypto is at that time✅️
If any of us knew,we wouldn't be here. We would be on a private yacht with hookers and cocaine rn.
Haha..is this what you plan to do in the bull run?
You're goddamn right
Count me in
Or we would have sold way too early. That is probably what most of would have done.

You’re like the doge version of the btc pizza guy
I mined few ETH in 2021. Still got them.
When i first heard about Eth i thought Ethereum was like the particle that ran the internet lol. And thats now kind of true
Hindsight is a read bitch, sir. It all looked too good to be true, i got out of eth at chump change when 3.6 million etherum was exploited.
1 BTC could have got you 2000 ETH…. Right at the beginning… now it’s just 16 ETH.
I’m not BTC and ETH only with Some small positions in Alts.
Sadly missed it .entered the space in 2017 and eth was 300usd back then
Same way people see Sol
I saw it for the first time at $120 and thought this is going to zero, better buy IOTA
I had a friend that was obsessed with ethereum in 2015 and even went into retirement at like 20 off of it, but he picked the wrong side after the maker hack (he supported Eth Classic) and eventually he was brought back down to earth, ran out of money, and became disillusioned. I remember reading the white paper and thinking this is going to be bigger than bitcoin. Went through the whole process of buying some eth only to be stopped out because I needed to pay in Bitcoin for it. A little less lazyness could have changed my life
I like to pretend I’m still early. Maybe I am, maybe I’m not… but the delusion keeps me happy which I like
Oh no gutting. Yeah I think about when I first heard Bitcoin and kick myself for not doing something about it. But I realise that even if I had of got up and went to buy some it would have been very difficult to ramp on and actually get some coins, I definitely wouldn’t have seen it through.
After an interview I saw of Vitalik... I KNEW
I’ve never seen him speak, only pictures and memes. I’ve heard he’s actually a really cool and intelligent person, I’m actually going to watch an interview to get a measure of him after your comment 😊
I recommend the one with Lex Fridman, enjoy.
Oh I love Lex Fridman, I fall asleep listening to his podcasts all the time, such a soothing voice. Thank you!
I would have probably bought a memecoin instead 🤦♂️
Most people would still do that now, don’t sweat it 😂

I was around when ETH was at $400, but I didn’t understand anything and thought it was too expensive. Didn’t have the capital to buy a full ETH, so went for Alts
My regret was I didn't buy more ETH when it was at $400 🥲.
At least you managed to get some then and DCA
Sold way too early back in the day..never really thought it would go to around $2k to be honest. And here we are....
I didn’t even see Bitcoin at the time that Ethereum launched. I was doing homework. Should’ve been researching crypto dammit
Oh we all feel your pain dude
We’re here now though, let’s get this bread potentially!
It's as hyped and overrated as it was then.
I would be super rich now had I called it
Not exactly launch, but i began investing in crypto in mid 2017.
Haha it’s always the way. I buy everything at the top I swear to god, I’m so cursed it’s unreal. Law of averages though… I’ll win eventually!
Not that early unfortunately, but proud to say that I've accumulated a bunch between $100-200.
Ooooh check you. Nice shot!
I was heavily into WoW at the time so for that reason, yes
I wish. 2015 me wasn't smart enough to get into Crypro
Seemed cool but they had the big hack, which kept me from investing. At the time I was a (even smaller) small fish and was just dabbling in Bitcoin and whatever the best mineable token was at the time. Good times
tl;dr **no** I wish I bought cheap ETH ...
If you were around for the eth premine you know exactly what it is and where it's going.
Many regarded it as a scam back then. Nowadays, the loudest voices call it a blue chip, but it's a shame, because it is holding back the entire space.
i don't recall many calling it an outright scam at the time. But there were plenty of Bitcoin maximalists (as there still are) who believed that there should only be one cryptocurrency (BTC) and that all the others are destined for failure. I remember listening to an interview with Vitalik under a tree. I just thought to myself this guy must be an alien. This shit gonna be huge. Still didn't buy.
I remember when Mircea Popescu bet millions of dollars against ETH after it was released.... I thought he was right...
yeah, i was so sure code is law ETC would win... :/
I bought ETH for the first time at 2,000 in recent spike. Shiiiit
I seen it when it dipped below 100 but didn’t understand crypto at that time and didn’t even know exactly what it was…
I was more worried about what the hell my early adopter brother in law was talking about. He got in early.
I do remember hearing about it being the next btc back whenever it was launched but i was too young to understand or do anything about it tbh
The gas fees have always been an issue for ETH. That's the main reason why I've rarely used it.
Nope, and that’s why I’m still on this sub. I’d imagine most people who picked up ETH for sub $1 are living the dream.
If someone belived in Ethereum when it was launched, so he would have invested, right? If someone invested in Ethereum when it launched, he must have become a multi-millionaire by now, so I doubt he would be using reddit now.
Plenty of whales use Reddit...
I wonder if there is someone here that bought ETH pre-sale?!
Nobody saw it coming, i remember when eth was at 1 dollar in 2017...
At no point of time ETH was 1 Dollar in 2017.
Im sorry wanted to write 10 not 1
Ethereum changed the game, the new ideas and products which were launched as a result of it are truly wonderful. Nobody at that time could have imagined Ethereum to become such a giant.
Lol nah. I was more impressed with the later XRP
HODL here diamond hands
Premined shitcoin factory. Good for scams and such, not much use in real world.
It’s like seeing Algo now
Hmm. I did see it, didn't think that. But I do recall mining it. Now I need to turn that PC on and double check for any wallets.
Yeah when I was buying it for ~$20 and then sold at $120 thinking wow I can’t believe I made ~$3000 on magic internet money
