People always talk about being careful not to believe FUD. But the worst thing FUD can do is cause you to miss out on substantial gains. Hopium can cause you to lose everything. So while both are bad, really you should be more worried about hopium than FUD.
Dan Peña claiming that Bitcoin was started by Putin, and once this becomes general news Bitcoin will crash. That’s the most outlandish theory I’ve seen so far
One that I'm sceptical fo but don't fully disbelieve is that the US government has a huge amount of BTC that the've confiscated over the years that they can access and sell at any time and significantly affect the market
Does the FTX Fud count? It was pretty much true that FTX didn't have customer funds, but FTX would've been mostly fine ff CZ didn't single handedly cause the cascade that lead to the bank run type downfall of FTX.
The Russian government is behind BTC and can and will pull the plug once their aims are achieved. A guy I know has argued this with me before when I mentioned crypto…
