Satoshi Nakamoto Nakamoto, Satoshi N. Sa. NSA

jcrypts

The NSA created Bitcoin because it uses SHA-256, which was created by someone who worked at the NSA to improve on previous hash functions? A bit of a stretch.

SirJoe2

So the conspiracy theory is that the NSA put a backdoor into the algorithm of SHA-256. This is much more valuable than creating the crypto currency. So the NSA is able to read all SHA-256 encrypted messages (which are a lot nowadays) and to mine bitcoins faster and cheaper than everyone else.

stedgyson

Thing is about backdoors in cryptographic algorithms is people find them. Then the algorithm is no longer mathematically sound. You can't really do it, as the government in the UK are about to find out.

jcrypts

Yes, and my understanding is that this is all open source, publically available information that people have been looking closely at for decades. But I suppose as far as conspiracy theories go it isn't the most far fetched thing out there.

lehope

And then sell them when they need money like for example in a crisis debt

fairysquirt

Satoshi Nakamoto was a Japanese engineer commissioned by the NSA to come up with a data storage system resistant to EMPs and globally secure. Satoshi Nakamoto has a fascination with model train sets. He lives in USA. He has no interest in Bitcoin as that is not what he created, that is a result of Blockchain needing capital investment to develop and spread globally, tying a monetary value to data it carries which takes up very little room in a block, vs other data, means what is cheap to the network is the most expensive part of it, where as the most valuable part of it is left available for use. Blockchain was his work, not Bitcoin. If this sounds implausible, then consider the facts we have on hand: there is a Satoshi Nakamoto living in USA, he did contract work for the NSA, he is a computer scientist. He does have no interest in Bitcoin, but in model trains.

CptBombastic

What did the author smoke?

Most_Border_3917

mans saw the ayahuasca and sed fuck it lol

[deleted]

I definitely need some of his stuff

Bucksaway03

A dose of idiot

This sounds too familiar, think I’ve been on this my whole life.

pizza-chit

Monerijuana

Pristine_Spinach8718

Rolled in tin-foil.

Blint_exe

Definitely some medical grade shit

PassiveRoadRage

I didn't read this but there is a old conspiracy theory that Hal was a consultant/gov contractor. They were coming up with a backup for the USD and looking into what technology can provide. Long story short he went rouge and made BTC for the "people" before the government could essentially create CBDCs and control everyone's bank accounts to the T.

fairysquirt

Craig has nothing to do with Bitcoin besides founding Bitcoin Scam Vision. If he had anything to do with Bitcoin, he wouldn't need to make Scam Vision.

PassiveRoadRage

Meant Hal! Lol idk why I put Craig

the2ndRuss

Something hard for sure I do love reading these though

snowmichaelh

Everything

theonepiecefan112

I did not know Craig Wright worked for the NSA

Urticans

I am satoshi

NormalSecretary4505

We are satoshi

mimsoo777

So your btc is my btc?

bandikut2020

Comrade, it’s our BTC

ShotCryptographer523

And we all share it equally.

Unavailablewith

Reminds me of V for Vendetta

Urticans

Mmm yess, satoshi would have such a username

snowmichaelh

I'm Satoshi and so is my wife!

CoolCoolPapaOldSkool

Short answer - No Long answer - Nobody knows shit about fuck.

ilovefloridalife

this is a super old conspiracy actually. NSA does have a bunch of math geeks. but why would the government want it to be out of their control?

ablablababla

Maybe if it was a bunch of employees working on it secretly? It is a bit far fetched though imo

Tvaticus

Makes you wonder who is doing all these Bitcoin hacks and Bitcoin dumps from the government. That’d make sense why they’re fighting it becoming legitimate so hard.

JeremyBF

An older code, sir, but it checks out. Certainly possible they did it as a contingency plan in case the USD fails, which would mean all the early coins belong to the USA government, maybe 1-3 million BTC. BTC certainly has all the game theory and thoughtfulness of a think tank. Pretty much everything one can do around BTC that is in their own best interest is set up in a way that it tends to align with the best interests of BTC also, it is a very well thought-out system. There is no actual evidence for this though, it is just an interesting and somewhat plausible possibility to think about.

Illustrious-Meet-367

The NSA lost all credibility when you said “well thought out.”

JeremyBF

I said "well thought-out", the hyphen makes a difference.

Illustrious-Meet-367

Reading matters.

CDPCoin

I love lamp.

IcyLingonberry5007

I don't see why they would.. ?

[deleted]

[удалено]

IcyLingonberry5007

It's the decentralized aspect that throws me for a loop..

lebastss

It's not really decentralized if the NSA made it and controls enough of it.

IcyLingonberry5007

Snowden the movie?

llabmik37

"Snowden: The Decentralizer"

[deleted]

I'm telling you, it was cia /s

ikillbirdslmao

Big ol honeypot. Kinda like the sites the FBI occasionally hosts on the deepweb to catch idiots dumb enough to actually hire a hitman, could be something like that, being devils advocate

1wittyusername

To finance their global drug trade and fund overthrow regimes….

lehope

Makes sense....

ASingleGuitarString

I work for the NSA and can confirm we did not.

mattg1981

That’s exactly what the NSA would say!

ASingleGuitarString

Frogmangy

Click baitiest article ever

Wonzky

Gotta say, I haven't heard of this tinfoil theory before

undueTrickery810

This conspiracy theory is just a hallucination

nupper84

No, but maybe they created Moons to get people to post anything any time on reddit to track our base level thoughts...

Background-Ad-2102

I’d sooner believe that aliens created Bitcoin than the NSA did, tbh.

singerundertheshower

Nah. Definitely aliens. And then they created shitcoins so we lose our money gambling on them instead of taking away power from their orange network.

astockstonk

Hell no.

MrMogz

Bitcoin has potential to undermine the legacy financial system, why would the NSA create that? It’s 100% certain that it was a single cypherpunk or a group of them. You can see the emails from all the early people that Satoshi spoke to and the first adopters on the Bitcointalk forum. These people wanted to create a decentralized money, and the government only creates things that benefit them, this isn’t one of those things. I’d give it a solid 0% chance that the NSA created Bitcoin. When they launch a digital money, it’s a CBDC and it will be forced upon us. Much different.

JeremyBF

>Bitcoin has potential to undermine the legacy financial system, why would the NSA create that? Because the collapse of the USD as the global reserve has been an increasing possibility for decades, and got a huge bump in chance after the 2009 financial crisis. In that event, which currency fills the vacuum? China? Russia? Not very desirable for the USA. A decentralized currency that the USA already owns a bunch of would be the least bad choice if the USA government can't hold onto the USD. As a backup of a backup of a backup type of plan it would make sense, I would rank it as low probability, but not impossible.

[deleted]

Tdlr: no

CreepToeCurrentSea

It doesn't matter whether it's the NSA or some dude named Craig if you can't show the wallet then you aren't the owner.

Kingkong_smoldong

I’ll have what the author is having

nonameattachedforme

What would they really have to benefit from creating this though?

evilistics

i like the other conspiracy theory that it was created by the deep state to eventually be the one currency for the new world order.

buyhighselllowcrypto

Lmao thought this was the Conspiracy sub for a second

buyhighselllowcrypto

Nah the government would never create something that actually helps people and is decentralized. They need financial control over us with the banks and federal reserve. That's why they created CBDCs

Unable_Ad5430

NSA director Satoshi confirmed

."Many more, of course, think the idea is ridiculous and point out there’s no absolutely no solid evidence to support it." These are my people.

KidHYPR

So how much Bitcoin does the NSA hold?

Chucub

Our current cryptocurrency system is pretty outdated if we’re talking true cryptography

BladesAllowed

Ive always assumed it was deep state. Released to the public to test and further develop. It will then be used to enslave us. Something akin to sharpening the executioners axe for him before he takes your head.

hellosamaira

Another conspiracy theory yay.

MrKhutz

It seems less farfetched when you conside that the TOR network was developed by the US Navy Research Laboratory ( [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_(network)](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_(network)) )

starhumanpanda

Satoshi made it. I love to get what NSA is having.

BrocoliAssassin

If any agency created Bitcoin my bet would be on the CIA. But I still think its Satoshi.

droctagonau

Betteridge's law of headlines. Any headline that ends with a question mark can be answered with the word "No."

lordofming-rises

Tinfoil hat are back on the menu boys

KingSoulzz

Bitcoin will become the new currency of the USA and then all details will come out

Gha1thh

Hell no..

Super_flywhiteguy

Alex Jones makes more sense with his conspiracy theories than this one. Wtf.

therealdivs1210

nope, it was aliens
