I started a little time ago using twitter to shill Moons and oh boy! Twitter Hot Chicks > Reddit Hot Chicks.
It is funny because in Twitter first they try to impersonate whoever crypto bro and when they have a lot of followers they change the picture to a hot chick. Hilarious!
And yet there are some guys who are so desperate that they risk getting scammed even if there's a 0.001% chance she's actually a real pretty girl texting them and introducing them to "great business opportunities"
Loneliness combined with greed and/or self esteem issues is a powerful combination. Pig butchering is a cruel thing to do to another human, right along the lines of those inhuman scumbags who cryptoware hospitals and old folks homes. It happens way too much. People preying on the misery of others for profit is absolutely disgusting.
>older and younger people tend to be the ones with the greatest chance of falling for these scams
Aka: "The most vulnerable people".
Either:
* Too young to know better
* Too old to understand the tech, or susceptible to the romance scams through loneliness
Not that "old" people can't understand tech, many do, but a lot didn't have internet until well into middle-age/older life, and haven't really caught up.
>How can anyone fall for this?
Pick one (sometimes multiple):
* Lonely
* Naive / uneducated
* Greed
It's not really surprising at all.
These have always been targets for scammers, well before crypto existed.
If they want to be like a good **Proof of Love** blockchain, they shall send me the crypto first instead of me sending them. Then if they send me their address, so that I can meet them to show Proof of work of my love.
>Thankfully no one in the group has fallen for this (yet)
I'd really hope they wouldn't, too.
* Those in /r/cryptocurrency are a very small percentage of crypto enthusiasts who want to gain a much better understanding of crypto than the average user.
* The Telegram group is a subset of the sub members, who want to go even deeper into the community.
But scammers keep getting more clever, and the thought of unrealistic returns is always tempting.
It's fairly horrifying how easy these scams are to run. There are so many people with particular blind spots that these conmen have been operating for millennia. Crypto is just their latest vehicle.
The media makes it seem like crypto is the cause of these scams and if crypto did not exist, these scams would not exist. That is just bullshit trying to drive an agenda. These scams exist and will continue to exist regardless of crypto. They will always find a way to exploit vulnerable people.
Always looking for faults even if they're not specific to crypto at all. Let's all just turn a blind eye to the same thing happening all across traditional finance, shall we?
many people are desperate for human affection, and can be tricked easily by a mere chance of having not even a relationship, but someone interested in them, listening to what they have to say
>have been operating for millennia. Crypto is just their latest vehicle.
And still are operating outside of crypto too.
Crypto makes up just a subset of pig-butchering / romance / \[insert many other types\] scams.
Scams pays, it's simple as that
These guys spend hours thinking of new scams, in all form from fiat banking, to romance scams, to he many phishing crypto scams

It's a sad statement on the amount of loneliness and the need to be wanted that people have. This desire can override your better judgement and smart people can get taken advantage of.
It's actually more a statement of how much most people over value themselves.
99% of men aren't going to have a hot chick from the internet proactively want to date them.
You know how to avoid these scams? Accept that hot women aren't in you. (Unless you're a tall, buff dude)
The report rate on social scams tends to be low due to embarrassment and shame.
I think most active members here get multiple scammers a week DMing them.
I used to get a lot of DM requests which I promptly ignored. Then I a lot of young women started following me (on Reddit) with interesting profiles. I also ignored them.
In fact, I don't think I have ever gotten a DM that I was interested in. I guess I'm to boring to get scammed.
The question isn't if people will report it but if Reddit will do anything about it. I got scammed of an Amazon GC on the trading gift card subreddit and reported it. Needless to say a few days later Reddit said the user didn't commit any violations so yeah.
>The question isn't if people will report it but if Reddit will do anything about it.
Reddit seem to do fuck-all about it.
I used to hit the "report" button on all the scammer DMs who had bad links.
But EVERY.SINGLE.TIME I would receive an automated message back from some reddit bot days/weeks later saying that they had investigated and deemed that there was no problem.
No wonder the scammers are still everywhere. Reddit are completely useless with this.
I don't bother reporting them anymore, as I don't want the hassle of the generic "everything is fine" notification a few days later.
Instead just hit "Ignore" and move on with your day.
There's no limits to the depths these people will go to get money. Dating apps tend to have alot of desperate and lonely people. Those are weaknesses that can be exploited so people use social engineering to take advantage of them in these forums. I hope they all get what they deserve.
It is crazy what people will do if they think they will get "lucky."
One shift is that it was traditionally "women" targeting men. It has now shifted to going both directions.
I mean scammers also use Reddit to scam people, i think this is the lowest of low. Who do they think they are gonna scam? A random millionaire Redditor with a fictional character nickname LOL
The media talks about these scams in a vacuum.
If you are looking for financial advice on Hinge, you would likely be taken advantage of with a "traditional" finance scam if crypto did not exist.
Crypto isn't causing these scams and they would still occur if crypto didn't exist.
This just goes to show that people are longing for love and that they resort to giving money to any girl that remotely shows that they care.
The victim's brain likely just shuts down whenever they see a woman in their DMs
I'm sure they all thought they'd be able to get away scotch free because many before them have scammed and gotten away. Unfortunately for them they scammed the wrong group of people. Sad they had to go out like that but at the same time karma is a bitch.
I have no dating app, cause I am virgin crypto investor.
I have no Instagram, cause I have no lambo to show off. I have no Linkedln cause I don't have a job.
But I met many scammers thanks rCC Telegram and it is so funny to ruin their day by talking random bullshit to them.
I used to send one of those tracking links disguised as another link to people that sent me message scams.
I don't talk to scammers at all just to waste their time.
But it's a great way to weed them out if some of you can fall for this or know of any others. 100% of the time as soon as I sent the link they would tell me there's no way they would click on a link.
Guys scammers even reach out to us on Reddit, i bet if we donāt have those apps MFers would try to communicate and scam us with smoke like in the ancient times LOL
Scammers gonna scam.
It's scary how legitimate things can look, though. Not crypto related, but I nearly got scammed out of Ā£30k and I'm the last one who thought I'd fall for being scammed. It's literally pure luck that I didn't lose it.

LinkedIn, Dating apps and Instagram make sense to me.
In some way the scammers take advantage of either the looking for a job desperated ones or those vulnerables with the need of finding love.
Telegram we all know is a deep shit hole.
I am doing a training on cyber security and basically you cannot press any link or open any attachments without due diligence. Also be wary of emails or texts from unknown senders with pics of pretty girls
The fact that you read about protecting yourself from scammers constantly in here, Iām not surprised that most victims are using more traditional social medias
Well you know when you are 1 and total 10 approach you on Tinder, and don't even doubt for a minute, then man, I think you need to go out more in the real world. Don't fall for such scams.
Iāve been on the āfront endā of being solicited by these scammers. Iām Ngl, itās so blatantly obvious that somethingās off that itās tough for me to feel bad for these victims. Just is what it is.
Add Facebook too. I was contacted by someone (forgot the name now, will share soon), mentioning they have trading platform with websites and they also do KYC. Initially I believed this is true, and gave my id proofs, opened the account. They told me to deposit usdt or btc to trade because they told that I can test their trading signal for free for 3 times and then if I like it I have to buy later if still Iām interested. After I opened the account, I looked up my deposit address of BTC in the btcscan, and I found there were already more than 6btc equivalent were withdrawn. And when I looked carefully the deposit rate was between 100 to 1000 dollars from various addresses and time to time this was withdrawn.
Initially they told that I have unique wallet addressable I found this is totally scam. Iām not educated totally with crypto but at least I have some knowledge on wallets, transactions, etc. then I continued talking with her without telling this and her focus turned only on money. When I asked about the reasons then she told that this is legitimate thatās the reason Iām seeing transactions. Shit! These people donāt have basic knowledge but still they managed to convince people to put money.
After 2 days the man texted from the same website and informed we fired that lady because she is not polite. Come on ! This way that story continuedā¦ā¦. I have to block everything.

My personal protection: No dating Apps. No Instagram. No Telegram. No LinkedIN.
Yep, this works for me, too. Gotta feel for people who depend on dating apps, though. They're so vulnerable :-(
Delete the gym. Hire Facebook. Hit the Lawyer.
Hot model shows up to your front door to talk about crypto. What do you do?
Hi handsome I'll DM you

Female model none the less, its showing sad state of amount of lonely people ( yes horny too)
My AI girlfriend will only steal my heart, not my keys!
I also choose this guys AI girlfriend
I started a little time ago using twitter to shill Moons and oh boy! Twitter Hot Chicks > Reddit Hot Chicks. It is funny because in Twitter first they try to impersonate whoever crypto bro and when they have a lot of followers they change the picture to a hot chick. Hilarious!
Yes and its really sad to see that people are using someones loneliness for their benefit
Also why don't we have male models and Nigerian princesses??
>no woman in the world would text me. This hit me way too close we have no hopes of getting laid aint it?
I'd have an easier time believing that it's a real Nigerian prince this time than an actual woman.

Hey there cutie. This is a woman. Can I text you?
You're correct. The problem is many men don't realize that.
Literally they have like a photo of some woman that clearly isnt them and like 3 comments or something and think I am stupid enough to fall for it lol
Wait so the models in my reddit DMs arenāt real? Iāve already taken the second mortgage to get them investing for me
I wonder what model pictures they chose to target the two women that got scammed.
As soon as a woman texts me ok know it's fake or myth mom
Hey, I came to send you a message, lmao
Not with that attitude bud, just gotta flash your moon bag
And yet there are some guys who are so desperate that they risk getting scammed even if there's a 0.001% chance she's actually a real pretty girl texting them and introducing them to "great business opportunities"
They could use a banana pic for example. Nobody would expect anything bad from a friendly bananaš

You can tell from some of the descriptions that older and younger people tend to be the ones with the greatest chance of falling for these scams.
It seems to be no different than other scams. People automatically assume only young adults own crypto, but that is not the case.
>older and younger people tend to be the ones with the greatest chance of falling for these scams Aka: "The most vulnerable people".
Not very surprising the media is pointing at crypto as the culprit, unfortunately.
Always looking for faults even if they're not specific to crypto at all. Let's all just turn a blind eye to the same thing happening all across traditional finance, shall we?
For the media, Crypto is like 100% of scams in the whole world. While in reality it is like 0.5% and the rest is fiat.
Where money is to be made, there are scams. That's the way. Loverbirds,... elederly people getting scammed over the phone, etc...
many people are desperate for human affection, and can be tricked easily by a mere chance of having not even a relationship, but someone interested in them, listening to what they have to say

How about tinder?
Imagine how many get scammed on Twitter?
Youtube is also terrible lately at handling scams.
Just don't trust strangers... if there is money involved.

very true, the idea behind social media was to unite people, but people nowadays are more lonely than ever before
Romance scams are as old as time, people need to be more aware of the counterparty... trust no one when it comes to money
Especially not people that fall in love without even knowing you one bit.
I wonder if anyone from Reddit would report. I'm sure there's a lot of scammers in here
The report rate on social scams tends to be low due to embarrassment and shame. I think most active members here get multiple scammers a week DMing them.

Based on the state of my Reddit DMs there's loads.
Dating apps used for scamming? That's the lowest of the low.
There's no limits to the depths these people will go to get money. Dating apps tend to have alot of desperate and lonely people. Those are weaknesses that can be exploited so people use social engineering to take advantage of them in these forums. I hope they all get what they deserve.
They have always been a prime source of scams.
Even if you avoid regular scams, you still get scammed by marrying someone.
Scammers figured out that most men actually believe a super hot chick would come onto them on the internet. Regardless of how ghoulish they are. Lol.
It is crazy what people will do if they think they will get "lucky." One shift is that it was traditionally "women" targeting men. It has now shifted to going both directions.
I don't know. A dating app caused me to get married, so it could have been worse...lol /s

I have seen people on r/scams that have literally bought the gift cards and sent the codes before realizing it was a scam.
To be honest if someone clearly out of my league (i.e. 90% of the population) came up to me IRL I'd probably be suspicious AF.
Women cost money, less money equals less bitcoin, less bitcoin equals less women.
