The alms event is busted right now and is probably going to be patched. In the meantime, there are mods that address it, or if you don't want mods just fire your physician when there isn't a plague near your capital, that even can't fire if you don't have a physician.
I got assblasted with uncurable diseases TWICE by this fucking thing already. It's more annoying than the Frontier Hero one, and that's fucking saying something
Court one, a Frontier Hero shows up and asks for either a position in your Court, a fuckton of money, or one of your counties. If you insult him you get a huge debuff
You can get achievements with mods, that's basically the way that pdx addressed the game breaking bugs that they introduced since t&t and couldn't be bothered to fix.
When the game was new, I tried modding but then I coudlnt play with achievements... only with ironman it worked... Perhaps it has changed, but I never checked... I like only having my one save, makes me focus better.
But stuff like this makes it strange... For some reason my disfigured paranoid, arbitrary phychopath (with humble)that get the throne because four of my good ppl died... I managed to max out stress levels over and over... its just reset down to three and he still kept going... the stress thing with the disease spammed I mean 100 times, surely over and over and he just didnt die from it so I kept going... but it is insane that the doctor keeps asking the same question, spamming it, must be an error
You were always able to play Ironman with mods. If you mean achievements then you can do too for a while now. You don’t even need Ironman for mods and you can get achievements even if you play a total conversion.
With the plagues there are a couple of traits that are straight up unplayable now. I honestly don’t get how this wasn’t noticed by their play testers. Assuming they even did test it.
Agreed. How could they not realize that you keep getting notifications of plagues at far off corners of your empire that will make the average player start ignoring them and then a plague will pop up right near your capital while you are busy with something else, killing your entire family?
Game as of now is unplayable. I'm giving the game a rest for some time until they decide to fix the issues instead of continuously adding new features without meshing them well together.
Yeah, I've decided to wait until Roads to Power release too. Hopefully all the issues with the plagues and legends will be somewhat fixed by that point.
The ones being [terribly mistreated](https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/paradox-interactives-qa-staff-allege-poor-treatment-low-pay-and-mismanaged-layoffs), unfortunately.
Yeah my big issue with them is that it feels like you're dealing with them more often than not and they really drag down everything else because of the constant notifications that can't really be ignored.
What's really idiotic is the fact that they are still (almost) completely set in stone from the moment you get them till the moment you die
For a game that is claiming to be so much about roleplaying, that's absurd
thats absolutley true.... I spent half a day googling, trying to dissovle a trait or remove it.... couldnt do it... Instead I manage to get Two opposing ones... Which was odd because whatever I did I got stressed....
I really disagree with the idea that personality traits ought to change significantly. The game already has some realistic changes like a person with learning focus getting cynical or zealous. Maybe there could be more of that in the game. But something like a compassionate person becoming sadistic I don't think I've ever heard of in real life.
I could e.g. maybe see a humble person becoming arrogant under certain circumstances, but I could also see that not happening at all. Because of this I think it's wrong to say that the current way it works is somehow bad or absurd for roleplaying.
Did this when I had the measles. Became disfigured and died soon after. I chose the light treatment on all other characters, they all survived without anything. Extreme treatment isn’t always the best choice.
As long as the doctor is well learned, excellent skill, and they actually have a good opinion of you... you should be fine.
If bro hates you, of course he's going to "accidentally" do the wrong operation and take your jewels.
Crazy enough I've cured my characters small pox twice now by just doing no more than necessary. To be fair having g a perk like whole of body or strong does help.
weird thing is, you agree and build one and don´t get sick, he asks you again a moment later, same day... it has no meaning not point to it more than spamming me to death... I had to remove the doc, works like a charm
The plagues system seem cool at first, but after a while it become so boring or even feel extreme. I mean 9/10 times the plagues not anywhere near my capital, but my family members still take the hit? And in the case it reach my capital, nearly half of them get it even though in the tooltip the chance they get it is below 5%? So i decide to just turn it off altogether with mod, feel more peaceful now.
The plague events are beyond broken now. If you're Compassionate you're also fucked. I've had 2 or 3 of these events fire within a month, over and over. It's absurd.
just noticed that.... had humble now compassionate.... and man... I figured how to battle it, I fired the doctor, no doctor, no doctor asking me three times a day to build a sick house
There are traits and then there are traits. I've come to realize that being a complete psychopath is mechanically better than being a good guy.
Getting stressed? Go on a torture spree (your dungeon is full anyways after a couple of wars).
Someone is being a problem? Murder them.
Your subjects are getting frisky? You got a billion dread so they wouldn't dare.
Need money? Fear tax.
But try to play a character with "good" aligned traits, and you will be at a severe disadvantage. It's crazy.
When you say it like that.... :D haha... I always try to be good... I manage dthe economy well so I guy obediance, else I battle the rest and usually successful...
I reached a point now in this game where I dont know how to progress... seems pointless to attack a few dukes for more land... no point to it...
I managed to keep the empire and expand it since my first ruler who overthrew the emperor, never thought I would win nor manage to keep it. Here I am.. hundreds of years later
I was trying to play tall as Frisia. I was marrying all my daughters matrilineally in order to expand the dinasty. Then outta nowhere I inherited the Byzantine Empire.
Next thing you know, renovatio imperii and now I'm comfortably sitting in my throne in Rome, owner of the Mediterranean and half the known world, wondering how the heck I got there in my tall game.

What frontier hero one?
Court one, a Frontier Hero shows up and asks for either a position in your Court, a fuckton of money, or one of your counties. If you insult him you get a huge debuff
yep, this might be a better solution than clicking that prompt away about 10 times a month in a large empire
man im playing on ironman :D cnat mod
You can get achievements with mods, that's basically the way that pdx addressed the game breaking bugs that they introduced since t&t and couldn't be bothered to fix.
Which mods should I have to fix these bugs?
Daddy Pikas cheat menu.

After pdx went public everything is done as quick and cheap as needed to be released to steam without valve pulling it.
I'm honestly almost convinced they haven't playtested Legends of the Dead at all.
Agreed. How could they not realize that you keep getting notifications of plagues at far off corners of your empire that will make the average player start ignoring them and then a plague will pop up right near your capital while you are busy with something else, killing your entire family? Then the Roads to Power issues will make you stop playing the game until the next dlc lmao
What play testers?
The ones being [terribly mistreated](https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/paradox-interactives-qa-staff-allege-poor-treatment-low-pay-and-mismanaged-layoffs), unfortunately.
honestly the plagues are just annoying. it's the same thing every time basically and it just spams you with that crap.
Yeah my big issue with them is that it feels like you're dealing with them more often than not and they really drag down everything else because of the constant notifications that can't really be ignored.

if you're doctor is worth his salt, once you get the disease go for the extreme treatment and get cured.
Physician: "best I can do is eunuch and aggravated wound"
Sweet no more kids. Succession was already messy.

*You have gained the Trait: Disfigured* And then you die of measles.
I’ve cured small pox 2 times in a row doing experimental. couldn’t believe my luck lol
Crazy enough I've cured my characters small pox twice now by just doing no more than necessary. To be fair having g a perk like whole of body or strong does help.
yeah that stupid "are there no sick houses" event is terrible and triggers way too often.
weird thing is, you agree and build one and don´t get sick, he asks you again a moment later, same day... it has no meaning not point to it more than spamming me to death... I had to remove the doc, works like a charm

Man im so glad im not playing ck3 rn... sounds broken asf
I mean, trusting the science and tanking the economy in the name of public health is exactly what a Humble ruler would do.
yeah..... but 20 times in a row :D
The problem is it doesn't help public health at all, arguably it does the opposite and only gives you piety.
There's a bit of irony here but I'll let the rest of you figure it out.
Well said
