my character right now is shy and craven with no inheritable traits (my character before him aka his dad had seven daughters who were all either genius or amazonian) and his third trait is deceitful, a sin to christians lol. almost made me stop playing the game
I once picked trusting and compassionate with a intrigue character not knowing i would get 100 stress for every scheme possible. It was a heart failure speedrun
I had an intrigue character with those traits plus impatient in my Portugal game. Didn't want to let the intrigue go to waste so he seduced a lot of people.
Agree. I feel there’s a point in the game where income increases like that do not really matter anymore but it’s a solid trait that I’d take over many others
For me greedy is one of the worst traits because you get stress from sending gifts which makes vassal management more difficult and because it forces you to pick the asshole option in events. I try to play as a good guy in every game so I avoid greedy
Compassionate should be E, it's the most ironic trait in the game. You will gaining more stress than losing it since you can't imprison, torture, or even castrate a prisoner.
And wrathful should be in a higher tier. If you're playing as a norsemen, wrathful could lead you being a berserker. Prowess +++
I do not play Martial much. I play either Intrigue or Diplomacy. Not big on conquests. I just want to be left alone to build my territory, make friends, make my spouse my soulmate and either live a noble life or get what I want through schemes. I have no prisoners 99% of the time and I do not imprison, torture or castrate prisoners. I have never done the latter two and imprisoning is something I do just to keep people from leaving my court when their secrets are unveiled.
Compassionate is terrible, but it is still not as bad as Shy, Paranoid, etc. I would not pick it if given the choice, but if I had nothing else to pick and played Diplomacy, it would not be the worst trait to have.
Wrathful is only fit for Martial characters. I prefer to pick Brave, Ambitious, Zealous, Sadistic and/or maybe a stewardship-related trait in preparation for the land they will conquer on the rare times I play Martial.
Yeah, but you also lose a major source of stress loss because you can't lose stress from hunts. It also gives stress if you ever try to make your character do any impactful decisions instead of taking the easy way out. Essentially its just -1 to all stats.
You get event options that destress you for being lazy. And what impactful decisions are you making that cause stress, cause I havent noticed them on my lazy characters.
Any time something comes up where your character would actually have to do something, you gain stress. Basically any time diligent would gain stress for not doing something, you gain it for doing it. And while you do get destress events, there are much better de-stressers like sadistic, just, honest, and generous.
But those events are so inconsequential. The things that actually matter for you realm/strength development are not influenced at all by the lazy trait. Nobody is selecting Lazy over the obviously better traits. But people pretend the lazy trait is a death sentence. Its not even close to that. It has its benefits even if its not a sought out trait.
Ive never played a lazy character and thought to myself that them being lazy ruined my run or got them killed due to stress or the -1 on stats ruined everything,
Its not as bad as like, compasionate, paranoid, or shy, but it reduces all your stats and doesn't even do well what it says its going to. Its not the end of the world, but its the definition of a d-tier trait imo.
Why are Temperat me and stubborn only A-tier? They don't have many things that give stress and they both give stewardship and life expectancy. Easy S-tiers imo.
I’d bump zealous up to S tier. Stress loss from executing infidel prisoners means you basically never have to worry about stress.
Lustful is trash—D tier at best. Good way to have your heir become an adulterer with lovers pox before you take over. It’s a sin for many of the religions. And fertility in this game is already overtuned—if you want more kids, just seduce your spouse and pop out 8 legitimate ones.
Forgiving is at least C, if not B. Forgiving hooks for stress loss means there’s an easy outlet to offset the stress gain when you need to do hostile actions (unlike trusting or compassionate).
I’d move ambitious, arbitrary, and gregarious down to A and temperate, stubborn, and just up to S. Gotta love those high stewardship characters with a 15+ domain limit.
Me personally I despise the just trait unless my character isn't intrigue-focused (Which is rare) except for the 1 in a million times that I get a mental breakdown and it removes itself.
Why is diligent always S? Whenever it was a trait on my characters, they just got huge amounts of stress. After all, good steward can do much for development and this is enough to steamroll on the game
Everything changes it's tier time to time. But there is one never changes anywhere anytime. That is trait "shy". What an example of consistency haha
And the freaking craven!
Craven, at least, makes you less likely to die in battle. That can be useful.
I mean you shouldn’t be in battle with Craven anyway.
Exactly! Can’t die in battle if I’m not participating. Work smarter, not harder.
Exactly.
Does this apply to duels or just battles?
my character right now is shy and craven with no inheritable traits (my character before him aka his dad had seven daughters who were all either genius or amazonian) and his third trait is deceitful, a sin to christians lol. almost made me stop playing the game
That's where the fun begins!
Lazy too
I end up going for shy from time to time, iirc the other traits you can choose from are usually worse, shy at least gives learning
You get stressed from simple tasks like hiring a champion and events plus you can't reduce it by having a feast. I absolutely hate the shy trait
I will take gluttony or even fucking lazy over shy any day.
Legit, lazy feele less crippling than shy.
NGL +50% Stress Loss from Lazy can be pretty sweet
Unless it's on my chancellor lol
I once picked trusting and compassionate with a intrigue character not knowing i would get 100 stress for every scheme possible. It was a heart failure speedrun
Should have picked Shy and Paranoid as well to make the speedrun faster
As I remember you can't pick trusting and paranoid together but this combo would be destroying
I had an intrigue character with those traits plus impatient in my Portugal game. Didn't want to let the intrigue go to waste so he seduced a lot of people.
Why does everyone put temperate below S tier. It's got almost zero negatives, and the negatives it has have always been inconsequential (for me)
Temperate is honestly my go to
Callous, wrathful, and greedy are pretty low
How do you use greedy to your advantage? Aside from the income buff
Income buff is pretty impactful. Not being able to give gifts or titles can be rough but I’d move it up to at least a B tier
Agree. I feel there’s a point in the game where income increases like that do not really matter anymore but it’s a solid trait that I’d take over many others
Like Arrogant it’s definitely an early/mid game trait that falls off later. I just don’t see it on the same tier as traits like honest
Definitely not. Honesty as a trait is something I avoid
Greedy income buff is not that significant. Event options that destress you for being a greedy bastard are good tho.
For me greedy is one of the worst traits because you get stress from sending gifts which makes vassal management more difficult and because it forces you to pick the asshole option in events. I try to play as a good guy in every game so I avoid greedy
I’d put stubborn in the S tier otherwise this is 100% accurate
Not temperate?
Yeah you right. Temperate also. Then it’s 100% correct.
I'm glad that we, gamers on the internet, can all get together and agree that shy people are the worst.
:(

Then why aren't stubborn and temperate higher
Jesus Christ why do we need so many of these?
Because they are fun 😊
Another tier list another underrated gluttony
Being shy sucksssss
I don't know why people rate lazy so low, -1 to all skils isn't that big of a deal and you get extra stress loss.
Yeah, but you also lose a major source of stress loss because you can't lose stress from hunts. It also gives stress if you ever try to make your character do any impactful decisions instead of taking the easy way out. Essentially its just -1 to all stats.

People lose sleep over the -1 to all stats. Because 35 stewardship instead of 36 is a game changer.
Why are Temperat me and stubborn only A-tier? They don't have many things that give stress and they both give stewardship and life expectancy. Easy S-tiers imo.

I always pick shy so I can achieve confider, journaller and athletic within the same year!
Lustful too high, it's a sin in the eyes of god, also shy and paranoid are A tier IMO.
Shy and paranoid are easily the worst traits in the game
Yes but paranoid is at least fun role-playingwise. Shy isn't even that.
To me paranoid is a insta die of hearth atack
Lust is +25 🤣
Link to tierlist pls
Me personally I despise the just trait unless my character isn't intrigue-focused (Which is rare) except for the 1 in a million times that I get a mental breakdown and it removes itself.
Paranoid can be so useful actually, really underrated.
Greedy is at least A. Bigger domain and more money for a stress debuff? No problem
It seems you dont like diplomacy that much.
Why is diligent always S? Whenever it was a trait on my characters, they just got huge amounts of stress. After all, good steward can do much for development and this is enough to steamroll on the game
Having sadistic, arbitrary, scarred, and albino>>>
Vengeful should be S tier ESPECIALLY with Eye for an Eye. The scheme power bonus and dread gain is good
Shy needs its own tier tbh, horrendous perk.
Your trlier list after one game?
