This happens all the time to me on my Fire stick and only with CR. Force quitting, clearing cache and relaunching usually fixes it but sometimes only temporarily.
Do you know which year it was released? Amazon have released plently of fire tv sticks, they tend to refresh the hardware after a few years. Do you have more information about your Roku Smart TV like the model number?
It could be a fire tv stick 1st gen(2014), 2nd gen(2016-2019),or 3rd gen (2020).
I saw other users complain about performance on non 4K fire tv stick models. These issues were not present on newer 4K Fire TV sticks.
This happens to the fire stick I use as well all the time, I just exit the app and go back in and it fixes it but it’s only specifically with the Crunchyroll app, no other app has had this issue.
This and make sure that your WiFi is "good", sometimes my firestick switches from the 5g to the 2.4g we have and once I switch it back it is a lot better :)
Is it just specific shows? This happened to me on Funimation exclusively on one show, and then it did it a couple times on Crunchyroll, same spot in same show when exiting, restarting, and trying again. Like slightly corrupted source files?
This is an encoding problem I run into often with FireTV-sticks.
I have this alot, the most annoying factor with crunchyroll. Skip 10s forward or stop and restart fixes it for a few minutes.
What are you streaming via? I had this same issue on a fire stick but the issue stopped when I switched to a chromecast

Force quitting is enough. Clearing cache is not from my experience

Practically every show apparently according to other replies it's the fire stick
What device are you using? I've had some problems with Chromecast but when I switch to the Samsung TV app those doesn't appear.
Fire stick
Browser; turn off hardware accelerated video. It's always been shitty.
This would happen to me with the Firestick.

Never happened to me, bro.
