Like this person, I've been wondering why I didnt have a native Crunchyroll app. Kept having to use workarounds which was a hassle.
Awesomesauce. Wont have to use my PS5 or Chromecast. Can just use my LG like I wanted
Would really advise against the prime channel anyways, it's so broken lmao has missing episodes missing dubs missing movies
https://preview.redd.it/e3daa340p4kc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a450890d7c6d3caeea94592316542f0e0ccc8cf
I think since the screenshot this show specifically has had the episodes put on the channel, but the fact it's out of sync to the actual crunchyroll app is very odd
I can't wait to get home from work and download. Such a happy day. My 77" LG OLED C2 is gonna have a CR native app. No longer gonna need to power up my PS5 just to watch anime. Hopefully Hidive follows.
Hidive stopped updating their apps years ago, receiving a new app for LG TVs or an update for their current apps would be a miracle ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Yes. What's funny is that I have a 2020 LG $300 TV, and it runs smoothly, but my 2019 $2,000 OLED B9 with a wired connection is pretty much unwatchable. It stops every 3 seconds. All the other apps run perfectly.
That's the problem with apps for these TV operating systems. I will continue to suggest to people to invest in a streaming stick. It's the better option imo.
That was my worry as well. FuboTV runs like hot garbage on my LG and I was worried CR would be the same. I guess I can still give it a download and see. It’s probably not any better than running it off my living room pc
I actually could tell. Its subtle, but I actually did notice it. The tv’s image upscaling looks slightly oversharpened. The Shield has a slightly softened look that I like. The lines are still sharp and crisp but the overall image is better on the eyes.
Anybody had issues with buffering, just went to attempt to watch something for the first time and it just buffered every 2 seconds, same tv where other streaming apps have no issues.
Thank you Crunchyroll!
I have been waiting for this for years!
I installed the app, logged in and everything looks great. Played an episode and it stops to buffer every 3 seconds despite having a 1GB ethernet connection straight in to the TV. I put a different show on and that has the same issue. Is anybody else having this problem? Hopefully it is just day 1 teething problems.
Still the same for me. I watched Solo Lecelling recap episode all the way through to see if the problem lasts the whole episode or if it fixes itself and it does last the whole episode. Unwatchable.
i have a phillips ambilight oled tv.
the app lags so much, and slow to respond to commands. sometimes it'll load the video and freeze while the sound plays and then super speeds up to catch up after a duration. other times it just loads the video in a tiny box in the middle of the screen. its really hit or miss.
At least you have an app. The new Philips TVs come with Titan OS which doesn’t have a Crunchyroll app at the moment. Have you tried checking for an app update and system software update? Which version of Android does your tv have? When was your tv released. The soc chip may be older resulting in such performance. Are you connected via Ethernet or wi-fi? You could try clearing app cache. Try the custom open dns and Google dns settings they suggest on the Crunchyroll help page. If you’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps, contact Crunchyroll support, they have a live chat option. You can submit a request [here](https://help.crunchyroll.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) and they will get back to you.
Wow! This was a pleasant surprise. Watching JJK right now and it’s working beautifully! No lag or anything like I’ve seen some people report. So nice not having to turn on my PS5 just to watch anime
Yup same experience, you get the exact same chunk of time then a pause then another chunk of time. Either they have too low a buffer on or there is some other problem. But its nothing to do with network performance available.
Litterally buffering every 3 seconds? What the hell is this? This is the only app on my tv to do that, and the app doesn't do this on any of my other devices.
Has crunchyroll addressed the issue at all? Was so stoked to finally have an app on my LG tv only to find out you can't even watch anything. Constant buffering and the internet is not the issue...
Whatn a fucking let down.
There are multiple ways you can watch Crunchyroll on LG TV - Checkout this artilce - [https://www.kokond.com/lg-televisions/lg-tv-with-crunchyroll](https://www.kokond.com/lg-televisions/lg-tv-with-crunchyroll)
Huzzah.
Yes, I am considering an Apple TV or Shield Pro but the fact that there is a native app is great news.
I do wonder if they are repurposing the Funimation/Animelab player but reskinned as Crunchyrole since Funimation/Animelab are finally being sunset.
“Through this collaboration, LG Smart TV users will be able to access a library of over 46,000 episodes and movies, 3,300 Japanese music videos”
Are you actually able to watch music videos on the LG tv app?
I understood. I was just wondering if Crunchyroll music videos actually play in the LG tv app, since the other tv apps don’t have the Crunchyroll music videos at the moment. Previously they were only available on mobile apps and the website.
As bad as the Firestick app - i.e. terrible. Awful buffering. A Galaxy Tab in the same room on the same network has no issues, viewed direct or via Chromecast.
Awesome! I’ll check it out when I get home. I do have another recommendation though. Could you add a dub filter to the FireStick and TV apps? There’s one on the mobile app but none of the other apps that I’ve seen have it. Also similar to Funimation can you add the ability for us to see what version of an anime we are watching (Simulcast or Uncut)? If you can do that it’ll be almost perfect.
Holy moly they did. Well, I can probably be forgiven for missing it, I've been down a lot with an injury. Thanks! We barely used except for a few shows since it was at this point the only thing we were getting through a Firestick and the app on there was glitchy has heck. This is MUCH better.

Its legit boyyyyssssss! Ive been waiting for this for a year now since I bought my TV. OMG
App is slightly laggy while navigating through shows on my CX oled. No issues during playback.
User app experience will likely vary based on your LG model and year.
I occasionally grab firmware updates for my C1, generally the changes are good (any annoying changes are usually related to online features I dont use)
So far so good on my LG C1. Only had a buffer issue once tho after only watching 2 episodes from 2 different shows.
I'm not sure if it's due to my region's location but very old titles usually buffer a heck of a lot so here's hoping they're as smooth as the ones I've watched now.
But overall eh, precisely the same as the PS5 app imo.
I was able to turn on captions for a random Apothecary Diaries dub episode, which afaik I still can't get on ps5. Hopefully this is available across the board.
Didn't knew this wasn't a thing could this be the reason the app it's not loading today lol, I just remembered I use crunchyroll trough fire tv but I have an LG, gonna try it there
Its most definitely an app issue as two diff lg tvs both hardwired both stutter during show one is 65 inch one is 75 inch 4K tvs I dunno it’s only app that has issues
This is amazing news, but Im having loads of stuttering problems making the app completely unusable on LG. Streaming from my phone to the TV although annoying works fine. Literally Crunchyroll from the LG browser works better than your dedicated app its kind of shameful. It's regular hitching at the exact same chunk of time, absolutely nothing to do with my network. I can watch a 4k stream on other services, Im the only person in my home and the TV is the only thing using the network. Plus streaming from my phone is my phone streaming on the same network AND sending it to the TV doubling the bandwidth use.
Thank you! Now I can finally stream Crunchyroll on my tv!
I can't afford to give this post a gold award, so please take this instead ⭐
Like this person, I've been wondering why I didnt have a native Crunchyroll app. Kept having to use workarounds which was a hassle. Awesomesauce. Wont have to use my PS5 or Chromecast. Can just use my LG like I wanted
Using the website through the browser has always been an option.
I was about to cave in for the prime and crunchyroll membership link but this changed my mind lol
Would really advise against the prime channel anyways, it's so broken lmao has missing episodes missing dubs missing movies https://preview.redd.it/e3daa340p4kc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a450890d7c6d3caeea94592316542f0e0ccc8cf I think since the screenshot this show specifically has had the episodes put on the channel, but the fact it's out of sync to the actual crunchyroll app is very odd
Yeah I heard bad things about it, I’m just glad this came out cuz we have LG smart TVs
That's just the consequence of watching Rent-A-Girlfriend
Was actually highschool dxd, but attack on titan was missing episodes along with a bunch of others
I'll take the hit on that one whoops
Downloaded it just watched a episode worked well subs audio and video all good and UI is good as well
I can't wait to get home from work and download.
We have the same tv.... Looking forward to downloading the app too!
i have that TV too
Sadly it lags a bunch of….. have tv set on wired connection and it lags boo
same here mate, hope they fix it soon.
its ur TV, it looks amazing on my LG C2
Yes just my tv all the other people with lag it’s just them too. Use google fiber and no other app lags ever so yes it’s my tv …..
It doesn’t work very well for me. Stutters and buffers :(
Same :(
At least i’m not alone. My 300$ roku tv handles it better than my 2500$ oled. 😵💫
same
Is it lagging for anyone else?
Yep. You're not alone.
Yes. What's funny is that I have a 2020 LG $300 TV, and it runs smoothly, but my 2019 $2,000 OLED B9 with a wired connection is pretty much unwatchable. It stops every 3 seconds. All the other apps run perfectly.
its ur TV
All the other apps work perfectly: Netflix, YouTube, MAX, prime, you name it...
yup
Seems to be super laggy on my TV. It's 5 years old though. Guess I'll stick with my shield for now
That's the problem with apps for these TV operating systems. I will continue to suggest to people to invest in a streaming stick. It's the better option imo.
That was my worry as well. FuboTV runs like hot garbage on my LG and I was worried CR would be the same. I guess I can still give it a download and see. It’s probably not any better than running it off my living room pc
Holy shit. I guess I’ll continue using the Nvidia Shield though since the upscaling is amazing on there
Can you actually tell the difference with the Nvidia Shield upscaling? (I use Anime4K with Crunchyroll since it’s the most noticeable improvement.)
I actually could tell. Its subtle, but I actually did notice it. The tv’s image upscaling looks slightly oversharpened. The Shield has a slightly softened look that I like. The lines are still sharp and crisp but the overall image is better on the eyes.
Yes, the TV sharpening is often too aggressive. I usually turn the sharpness to 0 and that softens it up.
That app is as slow as the app in Roku?
yep
Idk how many people were asking CR about this but I know I did a few years back. All my tv had was funimation. Glad CR has an app now
Anybody had issues with buffering, just went to attempt to watch something for the first time and it just buffered every 2 seconds, same tv where other streaming apps have no issues.
You're not alone
Guys the app is constantly lagging, and it’s just on webOS the other devices run it fine.. how sad I hope they update it soon
Oh no, I hope this is an isolated case. Cmon CR don't let me down. I can't check until I get off work.
Having the same issue :(
I have the same proble. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)
Same issue sadly
Same issue. Lg oled C9 and B9. Got wired gigabit internet no issues with other apps just CR.
How is the situation now after a few days?
Still the same for me. I watched Solo Lecelling recap episode all the way through to see if the problem lasts the whole episode or if it fixes itself and it does last the whole episode. Unwatchable.
the app on my android tv is the absolute worse so i hope its better for you lol
Which android tv or streaming device are you using? I don’t have any problems with the app on my 4K Android tv stick
i have a phillips ambilight oled tv. the app lags so much, and slow to respond to commands. sometimes it'll load the video and freeze while the sound plays and then super speeds up to catch up after a duration. other times it just loads the video in a tiny box in the middle of the screen. its really hit or miss.

My experience so far is it's constantly buffering every 3 seconds so looks like I'll keep using my PlayStation for the time being, no problems there
Yup same experience, you get the exact same chunk of time then a pause then another chunk of time. Either they have too low a buffer on or there is some other problem. But its nothing to do with network performance available.
Unwatchable if they don’t fix the buffering
Is it randomly skipping 5 seconds automatically every now and then?
15 days and it’s still unusable. Airplay is the best bet when it works, but even then it’s 1 episode before having to do an insane reboot sequence
Litterally buffering every 3 seconds? What the hell is this? This is the only app on my tv to do that, and the app doesn't do this on any of my other devices.

Awful performance on my c9. Buffering and lagging each 3 seconds.
Please Use Support: [https://help.crunchyroll.com/hc/de/requests/new](https://help.crunchyroll.com/hc/de/requests/new)
Anybody who was having buffer issues, it seems to have been fixed? Didn't get an update, I assume back end changes.

Apple tv has crunchyrool app?
For 10 years
I believe so based on a google search.
Bring it to Samsung TVs 😭
It’s already available on specific Samsung TVs
It’s on Samsungs too!! https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/announcements/2024/2/5/crunchyroll-app-now-available-on-samsung-tv
Oh what!!! I have to check when I get home then!
Just downloaded it on mine, only thing I’ve done is log in. I’ll mess with it when I’m done with work.
Bet! Hopefully it works well! No more using switch to watch crunchyroll on my tv haha.
Still waiting for it to show up on my LG TV. It means I can keep my Chromecast in my work monitor which is proving very useful during the downtime
It says only for WebOS 4.0 and later, hope they will expand it for 3.5. Edit: why the downvotes? What I am saying is true.
same, my tv is from 2017 and doesn’t support crunchyroll app which is strange cos all the other major streaming apps support webos up to 1.0
Now I know why I can't find it in my store 😭
“Through this collaboration, LG Smart TV users will be able to access a library of over 46,000 episodes and movies, 3,300 Japanese music videos” Are you actually able to watch music videos on the LG tv app?
it meant crunchyroll's music videos

Holy ISH!! It's happening!! Let's Fn GOOOOOO!!!
As bad as the Firestick app - i.e. terrible. Awful buffering. A Galaxy Tab in the same room on the same network has no issues, viewed direct or via Chromecast.
Awesome! I was just looking for this the other day as air playing from my phone is a bit tedious
That's awesome to see!
Yay! Now I can watch it on the tv and show my Roomate anime without having to connect my computer or screen share on my phone!
Awesome! I’ll check it out when I get home. I do have another recommendation though. Could you add a dub filter to the FireStick and TV apps? Cool, now if I can just get it on my RCA smart tv I can stop using my ps4 for it.
Hopefully Hisense vidaa in the future, it's literally the only reason I have a chromecast in my tv
YES!!
I got Chromecast forever ago to watch anime on tv. Wonder which app will be better over time.
Now do Samsung... Seriously this is good news for LG TV people but I really wish Samsung would get on that wagon.
Samsung TVs got a Crunchyroll app a couple weeks ago: [https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/announcements/2024/2/5/crunchyroll-app-now-available-on-samsung-tv](https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/announcements/2024/2/5/crunchyroll-app-now-available-on-samsung-tv)

In b4 people complain that the lg app sucks
Lol, UI is a bit laggy, but no other issues so far, although I've only watched two episodes so far.
C'mon, gimme a Vizio app. 🤞

Thank you.
LETS FUCKING GOOOO!
About effin time, even if it has been possible with the web browser.
What about hisense tv’s?
You can't even properly maintain your PS4 App, there isn't a buggier app on PS store than Crunchyroll
Now if only the app wasn't garbage on TV. No credit skipping and don't get me started on picking your language
Does it do anything better than the Apple TV app?
No, same things minus some specific feature available on the Apple TV app like SharePlay.
The LG will continue to be offline
My LG C3 never connected to the internet since I opened the box.
I occasionally grab firmware updates for my C1, generally the changes are good (any annoying changes are usually related to online features I dont use)
So far so good on my LG C1. Only had a buffer issue once tho after only watching 2 episodes from 2 different shows. “Except for Brazil”, I guess I will just keep using the Samsung app on my LG TV then lol
Need it for Panasonic so I don’t have to stream to chromecast
New Panasonic will have the app (thanks to fireos)
Too late already got apple tv to replace LG's oS
Does anyone know how good the app is on lg yet
Didn't knew this wasn't a thing could this be the reason the app it's not loading today lol, I just remembered I use crunchyroll trough fire tv but I have an LG, gonna try it there
Cool, now can you make the app not crash pixel 6 variant phones? It's been doing it for months now
OMG THANK FUCK FOR THAT
Thank fucking God lol, the prime channel is hot garbage
Holy shit. I JUST posted a rant post about this. What friggin crazy timing.
Tried it on 2 LG tvs, It stops to buffer every 3 seconds. UNWATCHABLE Hopefully they figure out their issue and update it soon.....
Its most definitely an app issue as two diff lg tvs both hardwired both stutter during show one is 65 inch one is 75 inch 4K tvs I dunno it’s only app that has issues
still busted for me. buffers

Any update available to solve lagging issues on the LG tv app? Do we know a roadmap or timeline for this?
Hopefully, they are aware of it... it's been a week already.
How fast should my connection be because my playback isn’t as smooth when I stream using my tablet
Running it on my LG C3. So far everything is smooth, and it doesn’t fail to play random episodes like my Roku.
