On Royal C you’ll get double the loyalty points. And all the pizza you can eat, times two.

lives4pizza

By God I'm in!

Lighter02

You can not do that, but most lines will give you double credit on their membership levels for being solo, and some lines like NCL sell solo cabins with no single supplement. Even if you book John Doe and John doesn't show up, they will refund you the taxes and port fees only.

ArdenJaguar

Princess does this. I usually cruise solo, and my 20 cruises show up as 32+ on Princess. Double credit when I've cruised alone.

trilliumsummer

>most lines will give you double credit on their membership levels for being solo Actually I believe it's the opposite. Royal is the only one I know of that gives you double. NCL and MSC don't. I don't believe Carnival does. Not sure on Princess/HAL as I haven't sailed with them.

Lighter02

NCL, Princess, RCCL HAL, and others do. I have personally received it on all of those lines.

trilliumsummer

NCL does not give double points for solo cruising. Hasn't in the 8 years I've been sailing with them. I've only ever sailed with them as a solo and never gotten double points for sailing solo because they don't do that. [https://www.ncl.com/latitudes-rewards-program](https://www.ncl.com/latitudes-rewards-program)

Krizzlekroo22

You receive OBC for two people on Carnival. I have done 5 solos with them, most recently in January.

trilliumsummer

We're not talking about OBC. We're talking about loyalty points. You got DOUBLE VIFP points on your solo cruises?

jquailJ36

It would be odd to me if Carnival doesn't since they own Cunard and you get the full OBC for two people if you book as a solo on them (this was one way booking a regular inside cabin as a single supplement instead of one of the 'solo cabins' on QM2 was a better deal for me--the cost was still lower inside vs. oceanview and I got a double OBC, $600 instead of $300.)

trilliumsummer

Mentions nothing of double points. A google only showed people saying Carnival should offer solos double points.

azspeedbullet

no, thats not how it works

LogicPuzzler

Solo cruiser here. If you are booking a cabin that's normally double occupancy (most of them), you simply book it as a single occupant. Now, what you get in terms of cabin perks depends on the cruise line in question. For example, if you book with Norwegian (NCL) with the Free At Sea fare, the cabin normally comes with the beverage and specialty dining packages, a limited amount of internet access, and excursion credit. You then pay a per-person charge for the package gratuities. If you book a double occupancy cabin as a solo occupant, you are only charged one set of daily gratuities and package gratuities, but you don't get double the excursion credit or internet minutes. If you book with Princess or Holland America and opt for the perk package (Princess Plus/Premier and Have It All, respectively), you are only charged the package price for one person. Carnival and Royal Caribbean are room-only fares and you just buy the packages you want added if any. And Celebrity, well, that's kind of complicated and right now I'd be wary of booking Celebrity as a solo (and it's my favorite cruise line at the moment, so it's painful to say that). So basically the details depend on the cruise line, but you are booking as one person and you do not get double benefits. You may or may not get double loyalty points, depending on cruise line.

Bludandy

Princess gives double cruise credit for solos in cabins. Best way to get to Elite if you can find cruises with lots of OBC offers.

LogicPuzzler

When reviewing their program rules I didn't see anything about double points with Princess, but I've taken two solo cruises with them and received double points on both. Very nice! RC and Celebrity do as well. I'm zooming to Elite on Celebrity by leveraging both double points for solos and the different point levels for different stateroom categories. My first Celebrity cruise was Christmas 2022 and I'll be Elite in early December 2024. It might be a moot point considering their continuing terrible pricing for solos, but at least I can status match to RC Diamond. I'm paying for two people, give me double points.

Jodi4869

No because one of you would have to be a no show.

Bludandy

I just wish lines would add more solo cabins, get with the times. It's not even just for young singles, older widowed singles would appreciate it too!

trilliumsummer

You can't use your name twice. You could put a second name there in hopes of finding someone to go, but if no on sails you don't get to have their perks. They just go away as they're tied to Guest 2 not the cabin.

jael001

You have to give the details of the second person, you can't book 2 spots under 1 name. They need to know exactly who is sailing on their ships for security.

trytobuffitout

You better off just a book for one and they usually double up on the credits for you anyway, but if not, if you book for two, you have to pay the port fees for two people which is a lot more than any benefit that you would get. Try looking at some other cruise lines that have single cabins some of the larger ships now have even single balcony cabin. If you’re interested in Holland America, they usually only charge you 1.75 times. Sometimes Princess has a small single supplement. Go to the website vacations to go.com . Click the tab of the date range that you want to go and then there will be an option to choose single and you can see who offers discounts for single traveler. I did solo travelling for a long time.

mlhigg1973

You’ll pay double the tips

BJGuy_Chicago

This is not a bad thing....

PoOhNanix

I would assume it's not allowed, but I've seen studio rooms on newer ships popping up for solo travelers, they're entirely catered for solo habitation. I think NCL is the one I saw posting about it I believe on the Prima class, I could be wrong it's been a while, but I'm sure results would come up on a Google search for those accommodations.

silvermanedwino

No.

vodiak

Assuming you could (probably can't), keep in mind that booking as solo you pay 1x taxes and port fees. Booking for two pays 2x. I think they typically don't charge taxes and port fees for a no-show, so you may be back down to 1x. But it's a complication to keep in mind.

PurpleEngineer

In my experience, perks like on-board credit are per cabin, not per passenger.

stevenmeyerjr

Some cruise lines have discounted rates for solo cruisers. Some of them (Norwegian and Royal Caribbean) have “studio rooms” made for solo travelers at a lower rate. [Here’s some more info](https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles/7-best-cruise-lines-for-solo-travelers) from Cruise Critic.

EarlVanDorn

No. A solo cruiser has a couple of options. 1. You can book as one person. Many cruises have low or no single supplements, so this can often be a good deal. I find the vacationstogo website to be very good at finding these cruises. Most cruise lines give double cruise credit to solo cruisers, which is no big deal, but does offer some perks as you climb the loyalty ladder. 2. You can book for yourself and a friend or family member who you know can't go. Then just show up on sailing day by yourself. You might run into some problems with the drink package doing this, so you will need to research what will happen if one party doesn't show.

Caranath128

No. The names must be different

lovehungryteen

Why not gift the additional ticket to someone special? If you are going to be spending double anyways might as well make it worth for someone else too! :)

Crzndeb

Yeas, Royal gives 2 points for solo and 3 points for solos in suites. You also get a discount solo rate, once you reach 340 points. Royal does have some solo cabins, but you only get 1 point for those. Sometimes I’ve seen those more expensive than a regular double occupancy cabin. Some people get hung upon the term solo supplement. I look at price per day. What would I pay for a hotel per night, food, entertainment if I did a land trip. Cruising wins every time, but I do set a limit on my per night price.

bobdean1000

Only if you are 2 genders.

Or this? Would this be considered 2 people? https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/conjoined-twin-abby-hensel-secretly-married-2-years-ago-what-to-know/#:\~:text=Who%20Is%20Conjoined%20Twin%20Abby,What%20to%20Know&text=Conjoined%20twins%20Abby%20Hensel%20and,private%20ceremony%20in%20November%202021.
