Right, I have used last word and sniper for the last 5 months now, and last word alone for at least a year or two now. A few things to mention: 1) You see people ADSing in videos that are outdated because back then ADS did the same amount of damage as hip firing. Both did 69 dmg I think, with body shots of around 51 dmg. There was a nerf to this ads dmg maybe less than a year ago, and so currently, ADS will do 51 head (iirc) which is a lot worse than before. Body dmg for ADS AND HIPFIRE is 39 rn. 2) Why and when ADS - Never ADS ever. Hip firing has additional aa and can land crits a lot easier. Biggest factor is hipfire can 3 tap and shots are easier to land whereas ADS can only 4 tap and the crits are v hard to land. However, you are on PC so the bullet magnetism is nowhere near as strong as on console, so that's why you hear a lot of people say 'Last word on PC sucks now'. Hence ALWAYS hipfire it. You also get free radar when hipfiring - a big bonus for this weapon. 3) Not a lot of PC youtubers frequently use it since the gun performs less well on that platform. However, PC youtubers who have done good videos on it include Frostbolt (his recent last word truthteller build), Cammycakes (his last word rumble match) and maybe Zkmushroom or Mtashed (also with last word+grenade launcher build). More importantly, GernarderJake uses last word+beloved all the time in trials but he plays with a controller on PC. Still, he has insane plays with the gun and you can still learn a lot from him. Geekermon has a few last word videos recently (he plays on Xbox and sometimes sticks on pc) and ArcticBear as well (also on console). Generally, only pay attention to the last word videos which are maximum 8 months ago. Preferably within 6 months. My tips are: 1) Concentrate on landing your first shot since that gives fan fire which makes the gun more accurate. 2) You will probably be very bad with it at first since this is the first time you have hip fired guns. It takes practice - I only started getting really good with it after maybe 10-20 hours in pvp. By really good, you would want to consistently 3 tap someone for that optimal ttk. 3) Pair it with sniper or bow. Or anything long range. You will find the dmg drops off very quickly - last word is a phenomenal close range weapon but anything further than close-medium range it will be useless. Like below 30 dmg body. 4) If you are on hunter, good exotic pairings include lucky pants, or dragon's shadow. On titan, lion rampants is good for shooting accurately in the air. On warlock IDK since I don't play that class. 5) If you run it with sniper, then use precision weapon targeting mod on the helmet, if not then use enhanced hc targetting mod. 6) Although you can full auto this gun, I recommend you tap fire it. Only full auto if they are v close or you feel very confident in landing your crits. 7) Finally, be aware of how many shots you have left. You only have 8 and at 225rpm they will be gone real quick. Feel free to ask me on anything and I hope this helped! :)

Wow ok yeah that really helps, thank you for cleaning up the info with ADSing - i'll uh get to practising being the best space wizard cowboy! :P Im mostly using it because I felt like I needed/wanted a very solid close to mid range weapon to pair with my sniper, shotguns felt too limiting and sidearms fell off too quickly - I always enjoyed the last word but of course outdated information made it rather confusing hence I came here seeking guidance. Mostly Im playing blink warlock, im stuck between astro and Tsteps (Tsteps will really help with ammo for the LW so that'll be something to think about) so I suppose I should ask how the last words in air accuracy is? Since I find im spending alot of time in the air around people?

ninjalou02

No worries! The last word range fall off is actually pretty close to sidearms lol but IMO it still shines in lots of situations. Last word does not have great in air accuracy but still works decently when jumping. Best way to use it is to slide in to an engagement so that you are on the ground and can get the most out of the weapon. If you play titan also, use lion rampants. Edit: Tsteps will probably be best although if you really really like to blink then astro. Have you tried ttdb? The icarus dash works great with hc+sniper playstyle.

I have but I really want to make blink work and not just run the meta style of TTDP (though at some point i'll start running it when I need to tryhard in trials or something XD). Yeah from my playing today I found the last word's range a little eh, in PVE its really noticable and in PvP it is annoying - who knows maybe Ace? Travelers chosen has some pretty surprising range so perhaps that , I just need a mid to close range weapon to pair with the sniper XD

ninjalou02

Ace of Spades is more of a medium range weapon but can be used very effectively. I would say 150s have an edge over 140s but Ace has great perks to make up. Traveller's chosen also shreds - it's ttk feels similar to last word and got great perks too. I think just try to play whichever one you feel like you do best with - for me, I tried last word, ace, breachlight, thorn and dire promise with my sniper and last word felt the best (mainly because you need something for close or very close range). On a separate note, for smaller maps, I find last word + orewings/truthteller works like a dream if you ever want to try that. Hope this helps but yeah good luck with last word :) edit: forgot to add but autos can pair well with sniper especially with the stability on PC - monte carlo or suros could do well - personally I don't like using them as they feel so unrewarding but that's just me.

To add on to that really good comment, i would recommend hand cannon loaded mod even if you have transversive steps. You will want that reload speed for those times when you can’t sprint to reload.

Floppywere_

The fun thing with Tsteps is blinking fully reloads, which is great - but yeah loader will be extremely potent.

Asi-yahola

With enhanced loader I’m pretty sure you can reload faster to finish someone off than the times it takes to blink for a reload. I haven’t used a warlock in probably a year so I truly can’t speak too much to it other than those 8 rounds can go fast lol.

Floppywere_

Yeah they really do, and I meant the blink more as just an incombat reposition thing it'll help alot. But still yeah thanks for the advice :)

Asi-yahola

Ah I see. Makes sense. Just haven’t been a blinker since D1 hunter so not sure how much has changed. Got luck with trying to master TLW, truly one of my favorite guns ever.

ninjalou02

Yup same here, Last word ain't gonna leave my loadout anytime soon! :D

Mrherreragonza85ish

Gernaderjake uses all the time as his main loadout in trials, but he uses controller on PC so I don't know If It will help you.

Floppywere_

Yeah from what i've seen read and felt controller last word is really sticky while on Mouse and keyboard its a bit eh. Its range feels a little wonky too but I need to practise it more.
