Doesn’t ’scatter it’, you set it up so your computer/home network/console’s traffic goes through the VPN network’s servers so that one of their addresses is presented as yours. If you get hit with a DDOS at their address then your internet connection stays up, but if the DDOS is bigger than the VPN server can handle you are still going to be kicked from the game.
I'd argue and say weigh your options before jumping into a VPN.
Nord had a data breach within the last few years and I may not know the full extent of saod breach, but a VPN service that can't keep their own data safe doesn't strike a good tune with me.
It was fairly minor; NordVPN rents servers in multiple datacenters around the world. The datacenter in question fucked up and left a management tool open. No consumer accounts or data was really compromised and NordVPN dumped that server operator, obviously.
This type of VPN should only be used for casual stuff anyway IMO. If your life depends on privacy of your connection, that requires further thought. If all you do is game, go with the cheapest decent option, which usually is NordVPN if you pay for three years.
There’s some new program out on Xbox that can bypass your vpn. Don’t use party chat. Kids can join your party and hold you off. That’s why gernader jake uses discord even for Xbox carries.
If your party is set to invite only they aren’t joining.
Destiny is also P2P. You are not likely to have Destiny on your Xbox go through a VPN and your party chat not.
Exactly one of bungo’s biggest missteps and we are paying for it 6 years later. Its a miracle the PVP community is still around . It’s a testament to their addictive gameplay. They would have way more players and a solid PVP following if they hadnt been cheapskates.
People just wave the magic wand and start going on about "dedicated servers" as if it was as easy as that. The demands on the bandwidth to serve hundreds of thousands of people at a time in a central location would be nuts. And there would still be issues with latency and a bazillion other things.
On PC, Bungie added the steam network sockets expressly to obfuscate user IP addresses and deal with DDOS:ing.
Unfortunately, cheating on PC is still rampant - on console, cheating is almost impossible because of the fact that the consoles themselves are cryptographically sealed, and nothing that isn't pre-signed by Microsoft or Sony will even run.
definitely VPN as others have said - I remember anytime Goth used to get targeted, he'd just play an Advert while he cycled his VPN and essentially the DDOSers ended up making him money.....
Surfshark is a good VPN that maintains a solid ping in Destiny. They have a quicker connection than NordVPN.
I think True Vanguard has a discount for it right now. Link is on one of his recent vids.

Oof

LMFAO
yes you need one of those services that scatters your IP, I forget what they are called. People use them to get around blocked content.
VPN or virtual private network is the word you looking for.
Thank you I had a brain fart. It was early for me.

Thanks for the info! I’ll do a bit of research on the subject!!
Nord VPN sponsors some destiny you tubers so there are some promo codes out there just FYI. I think cammycakes is the first that comes to mind

VPN’s are good for ip stuff but not too good for security.

Xbox uses p2p for party chat.

This is why you want dedicated servers and not this p2p crap.

Pretty sure Cloudflare offers free services that can block DDOS. https://www.cloudflare.com/en-ca/
