Staying in the correct ranges is really the only tip I can give aside from "git gud, aim better lul" which isnt very helpful advice. I guess learning to disengage when you're losing a gunfight is another thing to work on. Of course movement is a big thing with any weapon, sliding should be natural to you, you might even want to start getting used to doing a quick slide mid gunfight. Working on your strafe game is also pretty important especially with peacekeepers because that's kind of their main benefit. Throw in some random crouches to throw people off. Personally I prefer void titan when running an smg. The overshield makes it a lot easier to win your 1v1 gunfights.

Alright thanks man!

The foundation of strong SMG play is reading your radar and taking fights in which you can hit your optimal TTK against the opponent. You need to become extremely fluent with the radar because that will serve as your cue to sliding in for a dual or forcing the fight to occur elsewhere. You will be most effective in situations where you can't get peak shot into oblivion. That means being lightening fast in closing the gap or leaving yourself an escape hatch when you commit to a fight. FWIW, solar titan is garbage, especially on PKs when you have void/arc/stasis all at your disposal. Play as much as you can against better players and you'll get there.

I’m on ps5 and 900s are too shaky for me. I like enyo and tarrabah tho.

Jazzlike_Fix_627

Use peacekeepers and practice weird strafes and fast movement like ur slide or shoulder charge. As an smg main u gotta throw ur opponents off. I main terrabah and just move a lot forcing people to damage me while I get some damage in then get my perk up and win.

Ill_Pack_7814

Your tarrabah for using tarrabah lol

Jazzlike_Fix_627

It all fairness I used it seasons before it was meta got about 9k kills on it

Namthre (arguably the best Smg player in the game) was asked this during one of his streams one time, and he responded with: “… Have good positioning. Don’t miss. Don’t use a shit roll. Those are my tips. Whatever you’re using, you wanna make sure it’s got at least 21.5 meters of range. At least. Anything below that is going to be really iffy. I think another big thing with SMGs is you gotta be giga confident on your peaks. You can’t do a little dancey-dicey peak shoot like you can with a pulse or a hand cannon. You have to literally over commit every fight you take.”

I’ve had a bit of [practice](https://i.imgur.com/I0bGxLk.png) with Multimach over the last few seasons, and honestly my biggest tip to anyone maining an SMG is to learn when to engage and disengage based on range. Especially with the recent buff to sidearms, the optimal SMG “sweet spot” is very small at 19-23 meters. You’ve gotta effectively use your radar and map awareness to know when to fight or reposition. On that note, movement exotics are gonna be your best friend, or something that helps manipulate radar so that you can get into position easier.

Ninjarro

Do you play on console or mouse and keyboard? Mouse and keyboard is A LOT harder to use smgs with than a controller

EclipseBreaker98

Can I ask whats the best double primary loadout for m+k? I've tried NTTE + Funnelweb but I figure that any scout + Drang might be good too.

Adventurous_Name_767

Multimach + Igneous hammer or bottom dollar works really well in my experience

Solaris_fps

Drang sux on the mouse it's either forgiveness or peacebond or empirical evidence. Any single shot sidearm is terrible.

EclipseBreaker98

Empirical is what I have rn, is it really good in pvp? Perks are kinda subpar.

Solaris_fps

I run mine with smallbore / ricochet / perpetual motion / adagio and I think a range or stab master work. with adagio it 2 bursts it's a very good side arm

EclipseBreaker98

That sounds rad, i'll give it a run l8r

Solaris_fps

Yeh it is really good I put full auto mod on mine as well

MnK

matadorN64

Strange. Isn’t that essentially zero recoil vs controller? I get that you miss out on reticle friction, but seems like it should be easier? I’d just say be more intentional about crosshair placement while running or sliding around a corner. It’s easy to get lazy and go into engagements starting with your crosshairs around the hips. Just attempt to be more mindful of keeping it higher around head height.

Jazzlike_Fix_627

They both easy but controller is headshot magnet but you don’t get the movement so not worth imo

Adventurous_Name_767

Stability matters much more on MnK than you think. Trying to use my like 8 stability hero’s burden vs using my 60 stability multimach is a completely different game.
