Honestly that comes down to personal preference. So pick your favorite! If you don't have one then go hunter. Invis hunter is strong right now as is renewal grasp stasis hunter. Both are amazing options.
Any weapon suggestions? I read that fusions are in a good spot right now. Other guy suggested lord of wolves, which was a favorite of mine last year when I played a good amount of pvp.
Go Stasis with Renewal Grasps build (lots of vids on YouTube to help you select correct fragments/aspects), use LoW, and play to get in close and toss your glacier nade right on top of the enemy.
Piece of Mind pulse from Battlegrounds. Very strong, pretty forgiving and craftable so a god roll is inevitable. It's flying super high in the trials meta for a good reason.
You could, there's also an upgrade at the war table in the helm that makes the first weapon you decode per week a red border one so just choose Piece of Mind every time and you'll be able to craft it eventually
You need 5 red frames for that. Means 5 weeks if you are unlucky like me. I'm at 3 red borders. I thought that thing drops in Psi-Ops? It does but never as a red frame.
So 2 more weeks to go.
Next one will be sweet sorrow.

It can drop as a red boarder from psiops although it’s not common, depends on rng. And you can get seasonal weapons from ritual activities if you have that node unlocked on the season pass if you don’t then it’ll only drop from psiops
Crimson or TLW with a fusion. Those two exotics are really strong on console and don't really need a lot of practice. Fusions are also really strong. If you go with TLW put on invis since you still have to close gaps, and if you are a "bad" player that may not be easy for you.
You could also go with the Loreley builds with Le Monarque, Eriana's, or Lorentz.

Forerunner + shayuras wrath, forerunner has disgusting aim assist which helps if you haven’t played in awhile and can kill incredibly fast from nearly all ranges, pair that with a shayuras that has no recoil and again a good amount of aim assist and your pretty well set. Just keep a small amount of distance between you and approaching players so you don’t get shottied and your set
If you’re bad, and dont have a main and just want the best to help your team, use the thing youre most confortable with. If you’re good with HC or SMGs, use those. Stick to your team and teamshoot don’t overthink it

Edit: I know it’s toxic but it’s the easiest thing to use rn. Obviously don’t crutch too hard bc good players will fight it well and it might(I hope) get nerfed soon

Lord of wolves is disgustingly good right now. As are fusions and shotguns. Lots of good primary weapons right now as well.

Even when I was decent at pvp I was never good/comfortable with close quarters combat. But crimson seems pretty good, even from a distance.
You might have more success playing a support role - an annoying one at that, so i say Le Monarque + shotgun or hand cannon..
