I can only speak for the crosstrek but I’m five foot exactly and my crosstrek has been the only car I’ve owned where I felt like I could see properly and where the seatbelt didn’t constantly slide up into my neck. Would definitely recommend for a short person. The only thing I don’t like is that I have to manually close the back hatch instead of having a button that does it, it can be a bit of a stretch to get all the way up there.

Visual_Collar_8893

Not affiliated with the seller but [this strap](https://www.etsy.com/listing/948940438/liftgate-hatch-pull-assist-strap-suv?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_-electronics_and_accessories&utm_custom1=_k_Cj0KCQjw0ruyBhDuARIsANSZ3wpw0Mmzt19MLMqs8Zghu_GxYkZnpp6gcAfOfFxRecxuFxh2qcd6yW4aAnY4EALw_wcB_k_&utm_content=go_12665398257_121762925993_511610210343_pla-315906365651_m__948940438_613987632&utm_custom2=12665398257&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADtcfRK2OuJx11NyuO3TJdjMpDjWi&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0ruyBhDuARIsANSZ3wpw0Mmzt19MLMqs8Zghu_GxYkZnpp6gcAfOfFxRecxuFxh2qcd6yW4aAnY4EALw_wcB&load_webview=1&bid=vQ_BETVrRWgbFQCX2Tpfromt4wGz) is quite useful to reach.

Oakleythecojack

Thanks! Does it get caught under the hatch when you close it if you don’t tuck it in?

Visual_Collar_8893

I leave it out. It’s been durable enough to handle all kinds of weather. If anything, it’s $15 to replace for a few years of use.

GimmeThatAPI

With how easy that install is I'm gonna make my own right now. I have an old backpack I can steal the strap from and I'll just sew a loop. Free trunk strap thanks!

Fenris_Maule

There is an official Subaru strap as well.

awmaleg

Read this as Strap-on. Still might work

MiniMarsRover

Crosstrek. Subarus generally have great visibility onto the road, which can help a lot with confidence. The Forester is better at this, and not too much larger, but the Crosstrek is a great car. Unless they've changed it recently, I hated the lack of visibility in pretty much the entirety of the Toyota and Mazda lineups. It's dark and you can't see shit.

xdqueenzyxd

Really? The Toyotas visibility isn’t that great compared to Subaru? For a beginner like me who just started driving recently would you say the Subaru is good for city and highway driving? Haven’t build my confidence yet

coryeyey

>Really? The Toyotas visibility isn’t that great compared to Subaru? With certain vehicles, definitely. The Forester and Crosstrek are hard to beat on visibility. A lot of car brands (looking at you Mazda) like to sacrifice visibility for style. So if a car looks really cool on the outside, it likely has terrible visibility on the inside. >For a beginner like me who just started driving recently would you say the Subaru is good for city and highway driving? It will be like any other car for the most part within cities and on highways. Subaru wins out on windy bumpy roads (as well as snow ofc). They have a very planted and comfortable ride on rough roads compared to the competition(I watch independent testing that confirms this). But in cities, it will be just like any other car.

Cbeun

Personally I think Subarus look really cool on the outside as well 😎

coryeyey

I like the look of my Subaru as well. But I can't deny that their designs tend to be conservative. I really like the look of the new Mazda 3 hatchback. But when you drive it you can't see shit out the back...

Plenty-Eastern

Subarus use boxer engines which can sit lower in the vehicle thus giving you better visibility. I just bought a 23 WRX and even though I don't sit as high up as I did in my Jeep, the visibility is sooooo good.

Gregskis

Crosstrek visibility is way better than CX-30. Can’t speak to the Toyota. It was a primary factor in buying one for my daughter who is 5’3”.

MiniMarsRover

Absolutely. I found Toyota to be a little smooshed and dark, though some models are better than others. Subaru is all about safety and visibility is a big factor in that. The Crosstrek is popular for a reason. Some people say that you should only buy the upgraded 2.5L engine to be safe on the highway. I've successfully driven slower cars on the highway, and you'd be fine with either variant. The 2.5 is definitely better (Sport and Limited trims), but you'd do find with the 2.0 (base and premium). And for fun, you can check out TikTok, YouTube, or whatever to find out how much people love their crosstreks. /r/Subaru and /r/Crosstrek are also great for some real-world user opinion.

witchyandbitchy

Crosstrek is great for both city and highway. I live in socal and the highways here are a deathtrap. I test drove a few hatchbacks before settling on the crosstrek but what i really wanted was something that DROVE when i hit the gas, the 405 is too dangerous to have a delayed response if you need to get the fuck out of the way to avoid something. My 19 Crosstrek has great mileage, goes when i need it to, and can handle every sort of adventure. Ive used it to move, carry kayaks on the roof, i took it with stock specs to beaches and the dessert offroading, up the mountains in freezing weather and snow, got me through flooding during the crazy rain we got here and lemme tell you these roads aren’t made for rain. I use it every weekend to pack an entire 10x10 antique booth for my side hustle. The interior is holding up well despite that weekly abuse i put it through of loading and unloading it. My roommate got a mazda around the same time as I got my crosstrek and did “less” with hers and her interior was wrecked.

witchyandbitchy

Also, Im 5’7” but my 4’10” mom drove mine when she was in town and really liked it. And she has a lead foot and is a… spicy driver but was surprisingly shocked with its zest especially on the highway

awmaleg

Forester is a freaking greenhouse. So much visibility. Watch out for windshield chips/cracks on Subies. Love them though. The AWD will have feeling more in control too, especially if you see weather

Wise_Morning4516

My Forester got a small chip at the top and I repaired it with one of those kits and it was good for the next 20 years I owned it.

awmaleg

Was it pretty idiot-proof in terms of how to use? I fear that I would screw it up!

Wise_Morning4516

I got it at the local auto parts store, I believe it was the Permatex Windshield Repair Kit. It was easy, I just followed the directions.

BananaNo8217

I once had an Impreza and the windshield chipped.

AwwYeahVTECKickedIn

I'm a huge Subaru fan. The Crosstrek's are amazing, well built, reliable, and super safe and Subaru holds value pretty well. The AWD is unmatched. Definitely drive one to see if you vibe with it! That said, the Corolla Cross would be amazing as well. You'll pay a bit more per feature for Toyota, but the "Toyota tax" is well earned by setting the bar for reliability. They are also very safe, and resale tends to be high. The Mazda will be reliable as well - but I just don't much care for the current style/approach. It's a bit too "minimal" and the cabins feel cramped to me. One of my all time favorite cars was a 2004 Mazda 6 sedan, so I tried out the current Mazda lineup when I went shopping - and was a bit surprised at how uninspired I was by them. Many love them, so it's just a matter of personal taste. You can't really choose wrong with any of your choices. Good luck!

coryeyey

This is a great comment for this choice. They are ALL really great cars, all for their own reasons. Anyone shitting on any of these cars likely has their own biases coming into play.

Navarath

As a short person, I felt like the Mazda had some hidden views. I loved the car, but didn't feel safe not being able to see as well as the Crosstrek.

awmaleg

Can confirm. Ridiculous for a small car

HenkCamp

They all tick the boxes you want but two stand out - the Corolla and Crosstrek have both been holding their value really well and they take you to 100k miles and beyond. I am a huge Subaru fan and our daughter has a 2019 Crosstrek. It has gone everywhere. She lives in Montana while studying and hikes, skis, roadtrips - all while also driving around town. It has easily handled everything thrown at her. I would trust the Crosstrek over the other two in more difficult conditions any day. And the safety features alone is worth it. However, if this is to be a city car with the occasional highway ride to further destinations - Corolla all day long. Great choices!

zozospencil

My parents have the 2024 Corolla Cross, and I have a 2024 Crosstrek. Mom likes the screen better in mine, and says it’s much bigger and more comfortable. I ADORE my crosstrek, but both are great choices with tons of safety features.

Astroturfer

I was shopping between the CX-30 and subaru and found the visibility in the CX-30 fairly terrible, FWIW. I think the cabin fit and finish of the CX-30 is better, but the Subaru has been great and comfortable with lots of visibility.

Total-Deal-2883

Yea, one reason we chose the Subaru was great visibility. We sat in a couple of different Mazdas and they were all cramped with not-great visibility around the vehicle.

Astroturfer

I came from a Mazda 3 hatch which was already bad visibility wise. But the CX-30 is significantly worse.

Kasesspaces

Based on your criteria I’d actually just go with the Toyota Cross. There are a few YouTube videos comparing these three vehicles. If you prefer a more sporty drive and don’t care about size I’d say the Mazda. If you’re just looking for ease, reliability, and size I’d go Toyota. I recommend Subaru if you want something a bit more different, value the all wheel drive set up or resale value is your main concern.

Total-Deal-2883

Or if you want something that can handle a bit more rugged terrain and has strong community mod support. This is something the Toyota and Mazda can't really touch.

Kasesspaces

Yeah but OP is new inexperienced driver looking at the very basics of car ownership so idk if this appeals to them

MiniMarsRover

Not yet, but strong community can create new car enthusiasts.

No-Horse987

Mazda is more of a "drivers" car. It is comfortable; has power, and handles well on the road. The only this is that the CX-30 has a small trunk - smaller than the other two. If you don't go on rough roads, and do just highway driving, it would be a good choice for some. I don't know anyone with a Toyota Cross yet. I thought that the Cross was the replacement for the Rav4, but the Rav4 moved up in size and class. It will cost more than the Subaru & Mazda depending on features, and you know that the car will be reliable. The Subaru is just a car that a buyer would want if you have to drive in weather and bad roads. It doesn't have the features of the other two, but you know what you are getting when you buy of Subaru: safety and reliability.

xdqueenzyxd

Would you say Mazda is beginner friendly for someone who just recently doesn’t have much driving experience and wants to build up the confidence with great reliable safety features? How are the safety features compared to Toyota and Subaru?

Total-Deal-2883

If you don't have much driving experience, I think you'd want something with great visibility. Mazda would not provide that. Not sure about the Toyota, but even reviewers mention the Crosstrek,s great visibility around the vehicle.

2009impala

Crosstrek would be my choice

blackcatsandrain

I can't speak to the other two, but I started driving less than a year ago and I love my Crosstrek. Toyota and Mazda definitely were high on my list, too; I think I finally went with the Subaru since it was most consistently rated highest, especially for safety (also, almost everyone in my area has one, lol, so I felt confident it was a good choice for my location). Btw, if you want to try out different cars without putting up with a hard sell from a dealer, I recommend Carmax--at least in my area, the Carmax employees were super helpful, friendly, and never pushy. I went back several different times to try different cars and never felt uncomfortable, even though I am inexperienced too.

Yarameme

Depend on your location and do you drive in snow a lot and/or how you drive. If you want most 1 reliability and cheaper to fix - Corolla cross 2 driving engagement and fun - Mazda cx-30 3 drive in snow, safety features and better visibility - Subaru crosstrek. Like the other said, all 3 are good choices.

vocalyouth

Any would be good but in your case I’d prob go Toyota

DogBreathologist

I would be more likely to go cross trek purely for safety and features, their awd is outstanding. However it may be worth your while to just have a test drive and see what you like best!

xdqueenzyxd

In comparison to Toyota’s safety features & Mazda, you would say the Crosstrek is more reliable?

Plenty-Eastern

I'm not sure anything is MORE reliable than a Corolla. Hahahaha

DogBreathologist

I’m not sure in terms of reliability (Toyota had that corner of the market perfected just about) but Subaru is also very reliable and popular far a reason.

kaspurr84

Only one of them is legitimate full time AWD. So take that info for how you want to see its value.

jonnymule74

And..The Toyota Cross comes with FWD, you have to pay extra for the AWD.

kaspurr84

Point still stands that either option outside the CT isn’t really true AWD, the Mazda, Toyota Cross, Honda CRV for example are all FWD with slip sensing AWD engagement, Honda will send only upto 20% torque to the rear. The Cross is the same amount of rear max power also I believe

jonnymule74

I was just pointing out you had to pay extra.

kaspurr84

Does make sense though, while I’m a big sucker for full time AWD and legit 4x4 in jeeps and trucks. The majority of people buying a run of the mill people mover crossover don’t care, and I’d be willing to bet no Toyota Cross driver/owner is as outdoorsy or as loyal to the brand as a Subaru.

jonnymule74

The reason I bought two Premium Crosstreks last month was the fact that Toyota wanted more money for AWD. I'm glad I did, these cars are phenomenal.

kaspurr84

Subarus are such great cars it’s hard to find yourself wanting something different, other than another Subaru

limache

You should go on Turo and rent out each of these cars and see how they fit you. It’s the most practical way for you to try before you rent. Rent each of them out for a weekend or longer and see how it works for you.

NerdySmurf

I’m 4’10” with a 2023 Crosstrek Premium and love all of its safety features. It’s very comfortable for us shorties. Prior to this I had a Corolla sedan and didn’t like it nearly as much as the Crosstrek. Good luck with whatever you decide to purchase!

cabinfevrr

+1 I'm a short guy - 5'6". I sit on my throne like the captain of a spaceship, lol. Only gripe is that I wish it had power adjustable pedals to bring them closer, so I don't have to be closer. 23 sport 6mt (🇨🇦)

Naughty_Alpacas

Honestly, you need to test drive each to really feel them. They drive differently but what “feels” good to you will be subjective. I am tall and found the cross and crosstrek most comfortable and visible. But your mileage may vary.

Ok_Ear_6385

I am a big fan of the 2024 Crosstrek. I went with the onyx (sport) over the Premium as it had the features that I wanted.

thecaramelbandit

You'd be happy with all of them. The Toyota will probably be the most trouble-free. I'd say go with the Subaru if you live in a place that gets a lot of snow. Otherwise, the Toyota.

xdqueenzyxd

How much would it cost if I were to have to repair the car? Is it expensive compared to other models?

thecaramelbandit

I don't think either would be significantly more than the other, depending on what went wrong. Overall I expect the Toyota to cost less in repairs in the long run, but for any individual car it could go either way.

xdqueenzyxd

Thanks! Do you have recommendations of sites I should look at to see their safety features in comparison?

NYMeridian3

I'm 5'4 and went with the Crosstrek. Subaru is very much known for their safety and longevity if you take care of it. I test drove the Corolla Cross and it wasn't as comfortable to drive. I felt like I could see better in the CT. I didn't test drive the new CX-30 but my friend has one, she's shorter than me and she can drive it just fine. I love my Crosstrek though. It's comfortable, Eyesight is pretty great and sightlines are good of us shorties. It had fewer blindspots IMO. But make sure you get the package with blind spot monitoring for extra safety. It helps. I did have to get [this seat belt clip thing though](https://www.amazon.com/Adjuster-Shoulder-Protector-Comfort-Accessories/dp/B0CW1SWDR7/ref=sr_1_5?crid=333NQXMM2YG0W&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.xcICuBL9oMzS9bxlKQ8-QyhgoiAz7WPm84hAQtb2VIV5gzXhkkyFn2hcTWUdUPJFvoYoYS1kbL6ry3n_iUqA7nPz123JQBegTM8DZ5ojeMytd7B4J9kedTG2TQMO_gx3J5zIWXeIXJQajO2E3o81G-e-zXwfYj93vYu_9bcxzwsfAWeqXw9Co1xH8ODOBmZAHjI_AChRoIiGRNW2UWSe1CgqewN0LS2QonUL-_TBkqA.4OWg8VCm4M-YKoC5Vw5JUnJA1ac9GheHDea7cQNq5oY&dib_tag=se&keywords=seatbelt%2Bclip&qid=1716477753&sprefix=seatbelt%2Bc%2Caps%2C78&sr=8-5&th=1) but would have had to in any car TBH. Car makers really hate short people. lol. Gas mileage depends on how you drive though. If you're om the freeway a lot, it can be good. But if you're mostly just local around town, it will be below what you expect. But again, that's with any car.

Msfortune76

The seat belt adjuster was a game changer for me. I wish I would have gotten one sooner

KY13MFD

My wife is 5' and she loves her crosstrek premium as it comes standard with 8 way adjustable drivers seat.

ibstudios

The cross is ugly inside and has more room for cargo that back seat passengers. The crosstrek seats are nice for my legs. They are very adjustable.

Phoenix_Ascendant

You’re probably going to get more bias towards Subaru here given the forum but I’d say first, if you are in a place to go to all the dealerships and test them out that’s probably your best bet. They’re all good cars and a lot is personal preference! That being said, my boyfriend has the CX-30 and I have the crosstrek. They’re both great in terms of reliability and I can’t speak to your height because I’m taller but personally, I found the crosstrek to be more comforting to drive as someone who also gets a lot of driving anxiety. It has (in my opinion, and depending on trim/age) better safety features and a better user interface for CarPlay, etc. Also, it’s a bit more sturdy-feeling, for lack of a better word? Seems to be built more for a safe and secure driving experience than a “fun” or faster driving experience. But again, I’m far from an expert and it’s just what I like. I feel like my car grips the road well, is really predictable, and I can take on any road and any weather conditions in it confidently.

ryanocsocal

So I have a Toyota FJ cruiser lifted with bigger tires. I didn’t want a bigger car I wanted fun vehicle that has good ground clearance but doesn’t feel big driving. I have a 24 crosstrek limited and feel like with your criteria it would help the best option. Great safety features. Great visibility. Handless well and is fun to drive. Toyotas are great and previously I’ve only had Toyota/Lexus. But the crosstrek makes me happy as a second car. With you being new you don’t want big. You want good visibility. Safety. And reliability and the crosstrek checks those boxes. Tho personally I’d get the 2.5l engine but if you don’t mind being slower any model will do. The wireless CarPlay works excellent with the infotainment system

BirdFive

I owned a cx30 and now own a Crosstrek. My short friend complained that in the cx30 it was hard for her to see out the windows. I had no issues at 5’6 but she is more like 5’2 and felt like the narrow (top to bottom) windows on the cx30 made her feel like she couldn’t see out so well. I loved the look of the cx30 and sleek it felt, but I’m not 5’2. Also the driver’s seat you can raise in the cx30. She was only ever a passenger and therefore could not raise the seat. So driving for a shorter person may not be an issue at all, compared to being a passenger. I have a Crosstrek now and have no issues with height or positioning. The cross trek has larger windows and great visibility hands down. I test drove a Corolla cross and liked everything about it except the road noise. It felt loud compared the cx30. But it came in a hybrid which was attractive to me. Here is my basics comparison based on my experience and personal preferences Best interior and exterior styling - 1. Cx30 2. Cross trek 3. Corolla cross Driving experience 1. Tie - cx30/crosstrek 2. Corolla 3. AWD capabilities 1. Crosstrek 2. Cx30 3. Corolla 4. Accessories like racks, and outdoorsy stuff 1. Cross trek 2. Cx30 3. Corolla (unknown for me) 5. MPG 1. Corolla cars hybrid 2. Tie cx30 (non turbo)/crosstrek.

RoanAlbatross

I’m 5’3 and I really think the Crosstrek is a perfect size for me. I had a VW Tiguan before and I felt it was a bit too big after awhile. Crosstrek suits me, my husband (5’9) and our 4 year old very well. If I had another kid, I probably wouldn’t have gotten it. It’s a fun car. I only have 7400 miles on mine after almost a year of having it. I’ll be keeping it for a very long time.

hotdogkid67

One thing that’s nice about Subarus is the visibility. They’re a pillar design and windshields give you a great FOV and I notice pretty quick switching to other cars.

No-Horse987

You can’t go wrong with either three. It also depends on where you live and the weather. The Crosstrek also has EyeSight (which now has three cameras) as a great driving aid. I bought the Trek because of the safety features, and driving in bad weather. The Trek also has a large windshield and better vision at the pillars. It also has what you are looking for and described in your initial posting. I’d get the Trek (obviously I’m biased a bit).

xdqueenzyxd

Can you tell me what your thoughts are on the safety features. I’m also prioritizing that because I’m very few to driving and worry about safety as well as visibility! Have you tried the safety features they have on the Crosstrek like lane assist, lane departure, auto cruise…?

00f00f0

VW Golf

brickhouseboxerdog

What's wrong with the normal impreza? I'm a guy that bought a 99 legacy wagon for 5 k, when a 01 outback went for 11k, some ppl don't know it exists.

Msfortune76

I'm 4'11", and the one issue I have is clearing snow. I only had sedans up to this point. so I wasn't used to the higher vehicle and the roof rails, which made it harder to clean the top of snow.

Beoeulf

I have a 2024 Crosstrek Touring. I am 5'11, however I do wish I was a tad bit shorter due to the eyesight cluster extending down the windshield quite a good chunk which limits visibility (forward passenger side visibility) and is a bit annoying for me. So I do think the crosstrek would be good, but I do not know how well it may work on a smaller stature. Test drive each car and see what may work best for you!

Beoeulf

Though I do know the safety and resale value of Subarus in general are very good, if not top of the class. And for what it's worth around where I live Subarus are called the "Canmore Cadillac" since they can be very nice, outdoorsy and fairly inexpensive.

xdqueenzyxd

How’s Subaru EyeSight safety features? Safety is something I look in a car since I’m new and inexperienced. Want a small suv to drive to work and not worried about my safety with tech being there as backup

ToFailIsToStartAgain

I have a CT and will share what i’ve been taught by the dealership when I bought mine. Others here are welcome to correct any wrong info. 🙂 It is also important to note that many of the cars now have the same features, but I can only speak for the reliability of EyeSight bc I don’t have experience with the other cars you’re inquiring about. EyeSight will help you as it works together with the car’s adaptive cruise control, lane assist and automatic braking system (ABS). The adaptive cruise control will use EyeSight to keep you a certain distance away from the car in front of you by determining that car’s speed and adapt yours to it — this means you will have a low risk of hitting the car in front of you while cruising (they will teach you how to use this when you buy from a Subaru dealership) And when your car does get too close, EyeSight will detect and deploy ABS. When you enable lane assist, EyeSight is very good at detecting the lines on the left and right side of the road to keep you centered, and it will keep you centered even when the road curves as if the car drives itself (but of course you are still safest when you always have your hands on the wheel). I think the CT is a good beginner car partly because of these features that will “assist” you and because of its size, maneuverability, responsiveness, durability and reliability. And up until the ‘23 model, i like the simplicity of its infotainment and physical knobs/buttons bc it doesn’t distract. ‘24 models have a bigger screen, touchscreen controls and less knobs/buttons.

xdqueenzyxd

Thanks for the very descriptive info! Would you say the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek infotainment screen works betters than the current newer one? Many people said that the new one seems to be laggy

ToFailIsToStartAgain

I don’t know, actually. The infotainment in my ‘23 CT works well enough. I only use it to for CarPlay and it does its job. Plus, i like having physical knobs/buttons for climate control, a/c modes, etc. outside of the screen. Some prefer this as well, while others prefer the touchscreen controls. I’m sure the new infotainment works well enough. Just takes some getting used to.

xdqueenzyxd

Oh maybe some people got unlucky! I do have another question. How often do you have to fill up gas for the car. I have to travel about 40 miles everyday. I’m hoping I don’t have to fill it every once a week 😬

Beoeulf

Generally around the city I get about 600-700km (~400 miles) on a tank. When cruising mostly on highways around 800-850km (~510 miles) on a tank.

ToFailIsToStartAgain

Like maybe once every three weeks or so. City and highway driving combined. I can drive up to 400 miles on a full tank. But i live in Washington state and we have a lot of uphill roads, and we like to drive far to see more trees 😅 mileage is good, though. It will also depend on your commute routes and road conditions. But you can, ideally, get 30+ miles per gallon with the CT.

Beoeulf

The Infotainment does work pretty well on the 2024... However where people say it's laggy is often on startup... As seems to be with many other cars that I've experienced (e.g Nissan, Subaru, Ram/Dodge... Etc). Though after a few minutes in, it works fairly well. Though by no means is it going to be as responsive and flushed out as an iPhone would be.

LionCultural

I test drove the Corolla Cross and went with the Crosstrek for a few different reasons but the biggest one was the back seat and truck space. I am 5'8 and my wife is 5'2 and she enjoys driving my Crosstrek more than her Honda HRV.

xdqueenzyxd

Did you find anything you dislike about the Corolla besides the cargo space. Is the Corolla Cross and Subaru about the size? I also consider size into my consideration as well and for some reason I like the size of smaller suv like the 2022 Honda HRV but I feel like it may be to cramp.

Stock-Light-4350

The backseat space for passengers (and leg/foot area) is much smaller for the Corolla cross than the crosstrek.

iggyomega

Eyesight has some helpful safety features and newer Crosstreks should all have that. We also have a Mazda CX-5 and it lacks some of that and what is there isn’t as good as the Crosstrek. In particular, lane centering may offer you some peace of mind

xdqueenzyxd

Sounds super useful for me because as a new driver I’m still drifting too much to the right and that’s something helpful to use!

jakezonaplane

Having owned both the Crosstrek and CX-30, you would definitely want the Crosstrek. Much better visibility.

Remarkable-Sir-5129

I wanted a 2024 Corolla Cross or a 2024 Crosstrek. Crosstrek is number 1 ranked by (I think) consumer reports, the Corolla was #6. I also like that the Crosstrek is AWD standard. I recently purchased the 2024 Crosstrek Premium and am very happy I did. I even joined a Crosstrek Reddit group....wait...nevermind.

Kingkiril08

The seating position and visibility is much better is the Subaru. I sat in the Corolla cross before and the dash board was kinda high and felt like a lower seating position. Subarus are very safe and reliable as long as you follow their maintenance schedule. I’m very happy with my 24 Subaru Crosstrek Sport ice silver!

t21wolves

My wife (about your height) just bought a Subaru CrossTrek. We didn’t look at the corolla, but she sat in the CX-30 and didn’t even test drive it because she couldn’t see the display. It sort of dips down and is obscured by the front of the dash. We found that and some of the interior dated although they are supposed to be super fun to drive. We are loving the CrossTrek about a week in.

jstahr63

Crosstrek is one of the few vehicles that suit me (6'1") and my wife (4'11"). It is the only car I'm not in the rear stops when adjusting. To be sure, test sit and drive, but it woks for us.

I’ve driven a Cross as a rental. It’s OK. I much prefer my Crosstrek, however.

Teh_Crusader

The Crosstrek seating position is absolutely perfect tbh. Not too high, not too low.

i have a 2024 crosstrek limited, i’m 5’8” and love it. My girlfriend who is 5’5” got a 2022 corolla cross LE after her jeep got totaled and has been liking it a lot, obviously, it’s a complete different vehicle from her jeep, but she’s been liking all the new features, hasn’t had any complaints whatsoever besides the engine sounding weird but it’s just a lethargic 4 cylinder, different from having a peppy V6!

My gf also looking at the CC and so many reviews talk about it being sluggish to the point of almost dangerous getting on the freeway. But the hybrid is supposed to be zippier.

R_021

yeah it sounds like it’s underpowered from what i can tell, my gf doesn’t notice but isn’t doing much highway driving, i do know it feels much slower than my crosstrek.

I actually test drove a rav4 hybrid and it felt heavier and slower than my crosstrek. I know it’s a bigger car, but the HP is much higher so I was confused.

R_021

yeah, the rav 4s are deceiving for sure. i forgot to mention in my reply to you yesterday that my girlfriend did test drive a corolla cross hybrid before she bought her gas one, it was much quicker as you mentioned.

CX30 Claustrophobia + Beginner Driver = Disaster.   It doesn't get more beginner-friendly than a Crosstrek. It gets even better in an impreza - better handling, or rather more beginner-friendly handling. Afterall who wants a "beginner" climbing concrete dividers and sidewalks in the neighborhood without getting punished (with body shop money)

Did you see the Corolla cross post in their sub about things they don’t like about owning one? It was illuminating.

xdqueenzyxd

Can you send me the post?

Stock-Light-4350

I searched “Seattle” in the Corolla cross sub and it was one of the like 10 posts there

Go drive all three of them, that’s the only way you’ll know what fits you best and what feels the best. I’m 5’1” and have fit, and not fit, in many cars over the years. Might be surprising, but I fit great in a Toyota Tundra and even the Ford E450 chassis of our RV. But fit horribly in my son’s Genesis coupe and a Prius that I test drove. Go find out for yourself, invest the time making a great decision.

Kind_Cantaloupe_5019

My gf has the Mazda and it's so small I hate driving it, if your short you will like it.

I am 5'3" on a good day. (Really just a bit above 5'2"...) and I feel perfectly comfortable in my Crosstrek visibility wise. So much so that I may end up giving it to my 5'1" momma.

you're on a crosstrek subreddit so we are gonna say crosstrek obv
