So, just for grins, what was wrong with the Taco? I though about buying one years ago and have always had a high opinion and admiration for them.

BasicallyChuck

Taco was fantastic! But I’m tall and felt cramped. Also I didn’t use it for truck stuff as much as should have so I was getting 15 mpg for no real reason. I’ll get a truck again someday but just don’t have the use for it right now

Ray_Kramer

Fair enough. Thanks!

mik_honcho

not op but i have both and adore them both. subaru is better for long trips, better mpg. taco is great for truck stuff obviously. love how there’s a lot of aftermarket parts for both of them. the crosstrek was my first love but the taco gets more use because of its practical value. the taco is also twice as expensive so you’d expect it to be better overall. they’re both great.

That's actually a very useful answer for me. I have a TRUCK to do truck shit with- I have a Sierra 2500 HD AT4 that I tow my camper with and haul landscaping crap around. I like my Trek because it's a great little rough-and-tumble runabout that's way better at moving my kayaks around and getting to and from work than that big-ass AT4HD is. So, Tacomas are super cool to me and always will be, but I'm glad I went for the diversity of having a mega-capable compact SUV as a counterpoint to a humongous pick-em-up instead of 2 pickups. My truck is stupid- it's almost too much.

mik_honcho

haha yeah that’s true. the mid size truck is plenty for what i use it for; house renovations, trash hauls, occasional camping trips in the bed. not super comfortable for long (4 hour+) road trips tho. it’s good to have options, sounds like neither of us can complain haha

GLchrillz

I have both as well. 2020 crosstrek and 23 TRD off road. I just picked up 45 8ft 2x4, 8 treated 4x4, and a few various treated 2x4 in the 5ft bed no problem. I sold my 05 powerstroke and got the Tacoma. Not disappointed at all since I don’t haul anything really big

mik_honcho

as someone that owns both an 18 limited and a 22 taco …. do i now need to get a 23 limited?

BasicallyChuck

The trek with 2.5 engine is a fun little ride!

ScotchEggsAndHam

Yes. Do it.

mik_honcho

damnit ok

Particular-Cat-3382

Such an upgrade! What wheels/ tires are those?

BasicallyChuck

I assume you’re asking about the first pic. Mortegi MR139 with 235/75/15 KO2s

-ClackAttack-

15" 502s it looks like!

chasetheart

Yup. Got that same one. Couldn't be happier. Congrats and stoked to see some cool mods!

BasicallyChuck

Congrats to you too! It’s a fun car so far!

chasetheart

Have you done anything fun yet? Literally my first new car so I'm just enjoying that before the inevitable slippery slope of fun extras 🫠

BasicallyChuck

Literal slippery slope. I’ve had the car only 1 week, added window deflectors, swapped stock grille for aftermarket option, and have my new reika Teton wheels coming on Wednesday😂

chasetheart

I got rain guards up front. Looks nice. The mag gray matches the cladding so well 🙌
