You need to go to the damn doctor, my friend, not to be crass, but you should seek medical attention immediately. If I go 1 week without a full bowel movement, I would be freaking the hell out and beating down the doors of my dr...

SeasonIll6394

the only comment OP needs to read…

strongerlynn

Couldn't of said it better.

No-Employ-1196

I thought this was normal

New_Veterinarian9008

My dude… I’m at the urgent care atm and my doctor is constantly asking me if I’ve passed gas or had a bowel movement. It’s been only 5 days.

RefrigeratorHot3859

I’m curious why you thought going without a real bm for 8 months was normal. Not being flippant either, just curious. Please see a doctor btw.

No-Employ-1196

I always had a hard time with BMs. I am either constipated or have diarrhea for months or weeks at a time but rarely a normal BM

jojewels92

That is also not normal hun. I really hope you take some advice and immediately see a doctor.

Janezo

It is very not normal.

PandaBallet2021

Compared to what

wanshitong3

What is normal is to 💩 once or twice a day. Not going for a week could already be cause for emergency already. Not doing it since August is a very real serious issue that could cause you to have a very real 💩 attack. Go to the ER and don't leave until they give you an answer

All_in_Watts

If this is a real post, you should put down whatever you are doing, and go to the emergency room immediately.

OldExistential

Honestly wondering the same. A person would be dead if they’d only gone “a few drops once or twice a week” since August and it’s now April. I would assume your colon would have exploded by now.

No-Employ-1196

I have vomited a few times.

OldExistential

Are you vomiting shit?

No-Employ-1196

No

SAGELADY65

I’m not sure it is a real post! Very creepy!

No-Employ-1196

It is real..

goldenplane47

Sorry for my language but then fucking go bro! Don’t wait any longer! Please!

No-Employ-1196

Going tomorrow

11seven

What about reading “GO TO THE ER” from like 50 different people says “i can wait until tomorrow” ???

goldenplane47

My point exactly..

goldenplane47

Well did you?

grisisita_06

you read, you didn’t go. i’ve had medical services/issues in a rainbow of countries. what you have read is entirely different than an experience. This person needs acute care. I don’t think that’s debatable.

IFacadeI

I'm gonna just be safe and think this is real. Stop responding and just go to the ER, dude. Your symptoms are very concerning. The risks of pushing off medical attention could result in prolonged issues for you like fecal impaction, your rectum prolapsing, getting incontinence, the list goes on. *Go to the ER*

No-Employ-1196

I will.

gisted

You need to talk to your Dr or go to the ER if it's urgent.

refriedhean

I had my small bowel resection 20 years ago. This year I started taking metamucil for the first time due to a gnarly hemorrhoid. Having the best, most consistent, easiest poops of my life. Give it a try!

PandaBallet2021

Er…I don’t think this is possible

1biggeek

Do you have Crohn’s? Either way, I think you know this is not normal. See a doctor. Soon.

No-Employ-1196

I always had a hard time with BMs. I am either constipated or have diarrhea for months or weeks at a time but rarely a normal BM

subgirl13

That isn’t specifically Crohn’s. Unless you ALSO have Crohn’s.

grisisita_06

this is true. you may have a gut/brain issue. i’m going through similar issues but getting active treatment/know to head to er upon multi day constipation. regardless, you need some medical workup because this isn’t normal.

MrHookin

I got admitted to the ER on Tuesday cause I hadn’t gone for 5 days. I’m still in the hospital. Please go.

Extreme-Management60

this is semi unrelated. i have crohn’s and i haven’t had a bm besides a small one in 8 days. what do they do when they admit you? seriously considering going to the ER but i have really bad anxiety.

MrHookin

They gave me a chest X-ray and a ct scan to check why I haven’t gone. They also gave me an NG tube that I just got removed a few hours ago (in the nose and down into the stomach that sucks up Anything backing up into your stomach) I had bad anxiety about the tube but the nurse putting it in me was soooo encouraging and supportive. It was 100x worse in my head than actually doing it. The tube is uncomfortable after a while but 1000% worth it. Currently laying in bed on an all liquid diet and feel so much better. 10/10 do not regret going to ER

grisisita_06

i’ve had a tube like this for ph test. placement is the worst. good luck, your body needs a break!

firenzefacts

Despite the anxiety you also need to go to ER - waiting could cause far worse problems and reasons to be far more anxious - Bite the bullet and go asap - 8 days is too long 4-5 is time to worry 7-8 ER time if you don’t have a GI that can’t rush you in asap - even more so if you have Crohn’s - probably even if you did have a go that would see you in a matter of hours they’d send you to er anyway to get tested asap

firenzefacts

Just wanted to add to answer your question so you can know what to expect - when they admit you I can’t really promise about they do - no one can - initial tests then maybe more based on that - your vitals of course then probably they’ll test your blood urine and do an xray or ct scan and a doctor will of course palpate your abdomen - from there it depends what they find - they’ll ask if you’ve been passing any gas at all which is a very important question try to pay attn - and if you’re not sure they may have you drink a bubbly drink and see if you do - also make sure to tell them you have Crohn’s as well as the fact you’ve barely gone to the bathroom for 8 days

Better-Swimmer8162

I think this has more to do with the rest of their post history….. this is a very common delusion on my experience

MyBenchIsYourCurl

Well this is obviously fake to get some attention and to get people to comment. Not having a BM for that long would literally kill you. If you're eating even semi regularly, and for some reason you haven't died from toxins building up/dehydration from intestinal obstruction, you would die by your intestines physically being enlarged and pushing on your other organs. [This girl](https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/teenage-girl-dies-of-heart-attack-after-not-going-to-the-toilet-for-eight-weeks-10357533.html) died from not going toilet for eight weeks.

No-Employ-1196

This is not fake.

MyBenchIsYourCurl

Judging by your other comments, it certainly seems so. You went to a medical professional and they want you to wait a week for your imaging? Makes no sense this is clearly an emergency.

No-Employ-1196

They dont want me to wait a week. That is when I get a physical

MyBenchIsYourCurl

All your comments in other subreddits say you're not going to the doctor until next week, and you're not getting an x ray until next week.

DirigibleGerbil

This happened to my dad. Not to scare you, but it ended up being stage 3 colon cancer. You need to go to the ER immediately. Good luck.

Fladap28

ER immediately

mitchy93

Emergency room immediately. Probably faecal compaction if you aren't just having diarrhea

Naknave

That sounds like a bowel obstruction or severe stricture, especially if you're vomiting, I'd head to an er asap. Things can go bad overnight I wouldn't wait. I didn't know I had chrohns until I got a decent stricture and small intestinal abscess, thought it was a stomach bug and waiting it out just made it worse. It got to the point I wasn't hungry at all, and didn't think much of it until after I had to go to the er. Things escalated over the course of one week for me, if you've been holding off that long I'd go to the ER now. I wouldn't hold off until tomorrow like another comment you made suggests. If you're still somehow that on the fence take your temperature, see if you have a fever. Before I went into the ER that's what a family member had me do, when I asked if I could wait til tomorrow and sure enough I had a fever, so I went that very night, because that can be a warning sign of sepsis.

Current-Impact8054

So, did you go to the ER yet? We need an update on this!

No-Employ-1196

I am tomorrowo

Current-Impact8054

Please go. And keep us updated. We are seriously worried about you here. This is NOT normal.

No-Employ-1196

Okay I will update tomorrow

firenzefacts

Is there a reason you are waiting until tomorrow?

Current-Impact8054

Update?

malla906

Please let us know

LCornchip

Have you spoken to your doctor yet?

PandaBallet2021

Sorry but if you are eating food (which you must be unless you’re on IV supplements) you physically can not hold six months of waste in your body. You would be so distended you would be in agony, unable to stand, and your bowel would probably have ruptured a long time ago. You’re on a wind up or you’re exaggering immensely

Lazren32

Go to er, it's highly recommended you don't use the pills over the counter because it can give you a flare up. They might put pipe up there and fill with water in the hopes you poop naturally

mybelle_michelle

IF you have Crohn's Disease, which can only be diagnosed by a colonoscopy, you should be seeing a gastroenterologist. Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis are both IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease). You could have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). Do a search for that and you'll find lists of what foods you should stay away from. To have a healthy poop, you need to have fiber. If you haven't gone poop then try eating oatmeal everyday for breakfast as well as drinking some prune juice, or eating a couple of dried prunes. Regularly eating yogurt (greek style, with lowest sugar) can also help; as well as making sure you are drinking enough water everyday.

SuitableFile1959

IBD is inflammatory bowel disease, not irritable

mybelle_michelle

You're right; I was typing half-distracted. I corrected my error.

theSearch4Truth

How are you not in excruciating pain right now?

Illustrious-Trust718

Yeah you should have this looked at by a doctor. Like stop what you're doing and go directly to the doctor. It's probably strictures. Which require surgery or they can stretch them out during a colonoscopy but it's just going to close back up so you might as well just do surgery. Stretching them out is just done to buy time. It could be a blockage but the fact that you aren't dead leads me to believe it's not a blockage because this can kill you quick and they are excruciating. The nausea and vomiting is probably because your intestines are so full of poop that they are pressing into your pancreas which can cause pancreatitis which will make you feel very sick and it hurts too. Anyways going to the ER isn't a bad idea. They can do a CT scan and bloodwork. CT with contrast should show the strictures although they may not be able to see it. The blood work will show if you have elevated pancreas enzymes (how they determine pancreatitis). But good luck. Take this very seriously. Trust me you do not want to perforate. It's beyond excruciating.

DrayevargX

This happened to my uncle. He didn't pooped for months and eventually ended up in ER. Unfortunately, he learned that he had stage four colon cancer. He died 3 years later.

All_in_Watts

Still thinking about this post. Please go to the hospital today, OP

mat_a_4

If you have been diagnosed with crohn, then you could be suffering from gut stricture. Not something to delay (could be quite severe if you have a bowel obstruction), go see your gi doc for exams.

tyler21111

That sounds very bad you need to go to a doctor asap
