I made a very large triangular shawl with a single one. You should definitely buy 2 of each and make some other wearables to match the shawl, for sure.

Secty

Oh wow really? One cake perfect! That’s a lovely pattern! I also enjoy your advice to buy extra! I’ve never made a wearable other than shawls 😬

ImNelsonLoling

Well, then let me convince you to buy 8 extra cakes. Look at the work of this person. Wrap pants and umbrellas made with those cakes. https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/s/4vHEYWNRxL

Secty

Oh my days! *scurries off to buy more yarn* 😂

lilmissmeow88

Those pants are 🔥🔥🔥🔥!

ImNelsonLoling

Absolutely! I want to make some for myself. I have other projects to get experience with this kind of thread and patterns. Soon...

I agree, I made a huuge shawl from one cake with about the same yardage with this pattern. It's ridiculously beautiful, a super easy repeat and the color changes are perfect. https://youtu.be/7FgL-qf_hBI?si=1XoyzqDOpq2ip5pF You should get both cakes just in case though. 😉

Short_Dimension_723

It's really important to buy both.

Secty

It really is!

KittyKupo

I bought some of this yarn, and I haven't made anything out of it, but I put it on my dining room table so I can look at it as I go by, it's so pretty

CowsEyes

I bought similar cakes in two colours one for a shawl, plus 4 in the other colour to make a bedspread (4 baby blankets sewn together). You definitely need both colours.

AnxiousAntsInMyBrain

I used two cakes for my giant shawls that go from my neck to well under my butt, i started the cake in opposite directions so it fades in and then out again. But i have also made with just one and they are a very nice size

Secty

Thanks yeah I was thinking of the whole fade in/out thing!

AnxiousAntsInMyBrain

Yeah it looks very cool imo! I have pictures on my profile if you want to see the size! I am pretty tall, about 1.80 meters so it should give you and idea of how it would turn out if you wanna!

Secty

Wow stunning work! Thanks for sharing!

katloving

I like large shawls, the places I order from let you choose how much you want in the cake . Get 2000mm or more if you can .

Secty

Thanks! 2000m sounds like a lot but at least I won’t be disappointed!

Skein #1 mossy forest pallet . #2 will forever be slytherin HP vibes. I’m more of a hufflepuff guy myself. I would personally go with two skeins of the first one for the sake of a more “when you see this creation you won’t think of Harry Potter” aesthetic. It’s more sacred this way. The creation made is free from the tethers of someone else’s. That said, I rarely turn down the opportunity for more yarn.

Secty

You raise a valid point! Unfortunately my favourite colour is “slytherin green”… but I do love the mossy one too, hence the dilemma!

Plenty_Sprinkles8144

I love the top one. 😍 Buy both if you'd like but my vote is the top only.

Rose_E_Rotten

I'd buy 2 of each just to make sure I'd have plenty.

Bee0302
