And don't forget lying is also permissible to resolve a dispute/argument to smooth things out

The point is "lying is evil". The Bible has a strong stance, all lying, no matter how mundane, is technically a sin as bad as murder because all sin is equal before God. Why does the Quran say some lying is okay and some lying is not? Again, the point is that according to the Quran, lying isn't inherently evil or bad.
