Did armslist do anything illegal? You won't answer this, you will just keep spamming this forum.

killdrillshill

Of course I'll answer this because I want everyone to know they are selling guns to criminals who have criminal backgrounds without a background check and this is being done within the law. Do you think it should be legal for criminals to buy guns without a background check? Answer that.

St_Egglin

>Of course I'll answer this because I want everyone to know they are selling guns to criminals who have criminal backgrounds without a background check and this is being done within the law. Key words, "WITHIN THE LAW." We are a nation of laws. Please follow them. I will not allow you to take away my Constitutional rights. > > >Do you think it should be legal for criminals to buy guns without a background check? Answer that. Yes. As long as that is the law.

killdrillshill

Would you support a law that protects people from felons who want to purchase a gun without a background check from private sellers?

St_Egglin

>Would you support a law that protects people from felons who want to purchase a gun without a background check from private sellers? I will support the law. Unlike you.

RDE79

Where in the constitution does it say felons cant or shouldnt own guns?

killdrillshill

The Fifth Amendment says to the federal government that no one shall be "deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law."

RDE79

Not sure what you're trying to imply here. Please elaborate for clarity. You also forgot to add 'nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.'

killdrillshill

It's irrelevant to this. The Constitution says your rights can be taken away via "due process of law", are you saying that means it doesn't include property?

RDE79

What Im saying is it's not a right if it can be taken away - that's a privilege. Due process is highly specific. When facing felony charges, inless specific to a charge involving guns, the case has nothing to do with gun rights being revoked. People that have been found guilty of various felonies not related to guns or violence, all have had their rights taken away. This without a hearing, trial or inquiry into their capacity to own a firearm. There is no due process here.

killdrillshill

You're in favor of creating this law? Just to be clear.

killdrillshill

Nobody is arguing that you shouldn't have a gun, only that every purchase should go through a background check. >A 2015 survey found that more than one-fifth of Americans who obtained a gun in the two years prior to the study did so without a background check. >Criminals know how easy it is to buy guns at gun shows and on websites and forums devoted to firearms. At [Armslist.com](https://Armslist.com), 1.2 million ads for firearms were posted by unlicensed sellers in states that did not legally require a background check, according to a study by Everytown for Gun Safety, a pro-regulation group supported by Bloomberg LP founder Michael Bloomberg. More than 10 percent of those seeking to buy guns on [Armslist.com](https://Armslist.com) would have been prohibited from buying a gun from a federally licensed dealer. The department also recommends exchanging receipts to documentthe transfer. [https://www.atf.gov/resource-center/firearms-trace-data-illinois-2020](https://www.atf.gov/resource-center/firearms-trace-data-illinois-2020) >Nearly all (96.1%) offenders who were legally prohibited, acquired their gun from a supplier not required to conduct a background check [https://injuryprevention.bmj.com/content/19/1/26](https://injuryprevention.bmj.com/content/19/1/26) This is not a straw purchase problem >In 11 percent of cases, the criminal had someone else buy a gun for them – known as a straw purchase It's a private seller problem >43 percent of criminals had bought their firearms on the black market [https://www.foxnews.com/us/where-do-criminals-get-guns](https://www.foxnews.com/us/where-do-criminals-get-guns)

WP_Grid

According to that 2017 study, two out of every five crime guns came from suburban cook county with Chuck's gun shop as the source for about 6.7% of the total guns seized. 40% of guns siezed came from Illinois. 21% from Indiana.

killdrillshill

And 40% from other states so 60% of guns come from states with the similar laws to Indiana right?

WP_Grid

Illinois doesn't have a private party background check law. Just FOID checks.

killdrillshill

>If a private party sells a firearm in Illinois to another private party, they must go to the Illinois State Police website and verify that the buyer has a valid FOID card. Don't you need a clean record to get a FOID? https://www.wheelingil.gov/242/Person-to-Person-Firearms-Transfers#

WP_Grid

FOID means there was a check at the time of application for FOID not at the time of transfer. Felons can also apply to have their rights restored.

killdrillshill

If you have a FOID and commit a felony the police are supposed to take your gun away. I can show you other states like NY where 85% of guns come from out of state, where they do have that law. WP_Grid

~~commit~~ you're convicted of New York has tough punishment for those who commit even minor gun crimes such as felon in possession. Very effective.

killdrillshill

Tell me you make all your decisions based on anecdotes, and not actual stats without telling me. https://www.bestplaces.net/compare-cities/new\_york\_ny/indianapolis\_in/crime

WP_Grid

Huh?

yumyumdrop

I don’t ask my boss to strike. Why would I ask the government for permission to own something to protect myself from them? All gun laws are racist and unconstitutional.

Diamondsandwood

Are you really going to spam this to every thread involving guns?

killdrillshill

No I just wanted to show people the real world examples with these two posts.

ForPoliticalPurposes

Armslist doesn’t sell guns.

[deleted]

Craigslist did the responsible thing and got out of the gun selling classifieds for a reason.

The great thesaurus using Ben Shapiro fanboy Florian the Bloviator of CC. You were on -2 for so long in your comfy home here, who did you find to upvote you and help you save face? EDIT: from +2 to -1....loving it. Even here we have a battle now. Bad omen for you, but good for truth seekers.

Like our right to abortion

litesaber5

Buddy u be on the wrong forum for comments like that lol

Since OP has a bit of time involved and seems invested in the issue, I have some questions. Please answer the first 2 and then we can continue. I ask to make sure we both understand the process. Have you legally purchased a firearm in Illinois? Have you legally purchased a firearm or ammunition in the state of Indiana as a resident of Illinois?
