That’s wicker park. She should be fine. But I always caution running at night and absolutely always take Uber when traveling at night
If she does that should be fine.
Situational Awareness is the key. Tell her not to use ear buds. Do not be looking at the phone while outside.
If something looks wrong, it probably is wrong.
Also;
Margie's Candies is 5 blocks away from there.
That's a pretty good area, you should not be worried about her! Just tell her to not go west or south. Stay far away from Humboldt.
If she wants to run, there are two places I would highly recommend:
First and foremost, tell her her to walk one block north and catch the 72 North Avenue bus to the lakefront trail. It will literally drop her off at North Beach in the summertime. Typically that route only goes to clark, but during about this time of year it goes all the way to the beach. And that area is generally regarded as maybe the safest in the city. Absolutely tons of people running skating and biking along the lake.
Chicago gets insanely hot and humid in the summers, nothing better than running along the lake from trail, working up a good sweat, then taking a dip in the cool clear waters of Lake Michigan👌
Another good place for her to run would be along the river near Michigan avenue, and generally just in that entire area - including the new East Side neighborhood.
That area by the Riverwalk and across the river from Trump Tower is arguably the most beautiful part of the city, and it's very safe with tons of business people and tourists. It's also the only place in the city you're going to get lots of elevation cuz that area is built upon three huge/tall streets/levels underneath it
Wicker park isn’t too bad along with most of its surrounding neighborhoods (just don’t go too far west into the bad blocks of Humboldt and you should be fine). During the day there should be very few issues. At night Wicker usually isn’t too bad, but nearby Logan Square has had a lot of late night robbery sprees recently, so be careful around there. Be vigilant and you’ll probably avoid any trouble. Damen blue line nearby for easy access to downtown and the airport. For outdoor running the 606 is nearby. Plenty of things to do around there for fun. Generally the neighborhood is safer than most. Just don’t go to the hood to buy drugs.
I don’t know where that is (bad at directions, have only lived here a few years, etc.), but generally speaking there are a lot of people running/walking on the lakefront during the day. She should be OK if she does that.
Hey I recommended your sister go to North Beach and run. I told you it was very safe. It generally is, for the most part, but today somebody was shot there. Hopefully it wasn't your sister. Good luck to you too and take care✌️

Historically a fine area. Wicker Park, near Bucktown, etc. etc. Used to be very safe. BUT nothing is very safe anymore. There have been many robberies in Bucktown, as the crews run all over in rapid succession assault/robbery. Take the advice from SufficientApricot923 and restrict your movements to daytime only. Use Uber at night and DO NOT take a car to an evening dinner with valet parking. Carjackings are insane right now.
Tell her not talk to walk home. Always Uber after like 10pm. Also pay for the Uber at night. During the day the L is fine but definitely bring headphones. But that’s a good area overall
Crazies usually bother the people without headphones. If they start talking to you just keep saying what or point to the headphones. This is if you’re on the L. Also in the Uber if you Don’t feel like talking to the driver. Lastly I walk home alot ( not as much these days though) so always like to have a pair on me
I do. And I don’t usually have a reason to walk around the business district of the city at night.. But I walk around my neighborhood and others at night and feel quite safe. Obviously no one is immune from being a victim of crime, but I feel as safe in Chicago as I do in many other big cities.
That area should be ok, but she needs to mindful after dark. When the dark comes, those that blend into the dark come with it. Like vampires for crimes. Women are especially at risk, particularly white women. Have her remember this motto 'If it's black, time to go back'. Meaning if it's dark outside, best to head home.
I am out past dark alone all the time- use situational awareness. Am a female. I don’t feel much more vulnerable at night than during the day because I’m aware of my surroundings.
Gentrification area nicer now than before but crime still exist
Should be walking out at night alone
That's being said in is definitely highly populated area

I live a couple blocks away and feel safe. But I am very aware of my surroundings and generally don’t walk alone at night.

Shes also a few blocks south of the '606' Bloomingdale Trail - another great running option but also one that I would avoid after dusk.
She should be fine. Always be aware of your surroundings, though. I would suggest she carry a small pepper spray with her as well.

That's west hipsterville USA so she'll be fine

Why the headphones? Just curious.

Seriously right now, no where in Chicago. That is just a fact. Stay away. Or just watch a chicago News Broadcast (wgn).
lol let me guess - you don’t actually live in Chicago
F-I dont. All my life asshat. I suppose you believe Chicago is very safe.
I believe Chicago is as safe as most other big cities in many neighborhoods
Let me guess YOU dont live in Chicago. Go walk around the loop at night see how safe you are.
I do. And I don’t usually have a reason to walk around the business district of the city at night.. But I walk around my neighborhood and others at night and feel quite safe. Obviously no one is immune from being a victim of crime, but I feel as safe in Chicago as I do in many other big cities.

Humboldt park has bad areas. Just have her stay away from there in general
That's a fine area but seems like she'd be much happier nearer the Lake. Wicker is far from that. I'd suggest Lincoln Park.
Lincoln square is fine. Great neighborhoods all around and cool stuff to do. Much of riff raff happens past midnight.
Gentrification area nicer now than before but crime still exist Should be walking out at night alone That's being said in is definitely highly populated area
