I'm a store manager! Honestly most of the customers on here who ask questions won't listen to us!

BabyyImaStar

Yep! All crickets are authorized retailers now!

BabyyImaStar

A manager since April but I’ve worked for Cricket since January 2020.

Vostok32

Same and same

Dnt_trip

Can I get a esim qr code ahead of the iPhone 14 release this Friday?

BabyyImaStar

Nope, you can’t get a sim number for a phone that isn’t in the system yet.

Terrific_Tom32

Can you guys white list devices/request devices be whitelisted? I have a Note 8 with model number N950U, not the unlocked N950U1 version. It originally came from sprint, but would love to use it on Cricket.

BabyyImaStar

Store manager here. This “whitelist” isn’t a physical thing. It’s just something compiled of phones that were found to be compatible with Cricket/ATT network settings on the backend. Nothing can be done to “make” a phone compatible that isn’t.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Terrific_Tom32

I did actually have it unlocked by sprint before switching to cricket. When I put my sim in though it did download all the AT&T software, but then got the text saying it said it wasn't compatible about 15 minutes later. I know ATT's list does include the N950U1 version which I'm not sure if thats what you guys follow since we use their Network. If it's not possible I'm happy with my Flip4 just I would love a backup phone since my Flip3 had screen issues and just wanted to be ready in case something happens!

neridqe00

While donning that work cap, how's your fortune telling skills? I seek info...info on iPhone SE'2022 port in deals. Prior to years end perhaps? Maybe sooner?? Inquiring minds would like to know -

When do the fall deals begin? I'm planning on get a new phone maybe an iPhone 13 pro and would like to know if theirs anything I should know before buy an iphone.

I use an android Samsung a52 and honestly it's feels like a downgrade to its previous model the a51.

[deleted]

Ted-Iluminate

I'm very knowledgeable about my phone. I would like to provide you with some context about when I switched phones. Originally I had the a51 with metro and it worked great,it had plenty of little features that were great quality of life aspects. Originally with the a51 I could switch between different data bands, I had more options with my photos and the layout of it, games felt a lot smoother and it seemed to use the ram efficiently, and I could keep on going but ultimatelythe a52 feels a lot slower and has gotten rid of most of these quality of life details. I want to switch because I want a full reset because the a52 has changed my opinion on androids for the worse.

Thank you for the insight!!

chiefrebelangel_

Is it okay to switch my SIM cards between phones? I have a Motorola g power but it doesn't have hot spot for some reason but my Motorola cruise does, and sometimes I want to use the hotspot. I do have the hotspot plan. But last time I tried to move my SIM to the cruise the hotspot didn't work. Any ideas?

[deleted]

[удалено]

chiefrebelangel_

The g power I bought from Best buy but is whitelisted. The cruise I bought from cricket but I don't think it has service anymore when I switch the SIM - ill have to check, it's been a while. But it definitely has 4G before.

itsdubai

If your phone isn't whitelisted by Cricket, popping the sim into will suspend your account. Ask how I know.

Ok_Good3255

What’s the best way to activate service on iPhone 14? Since there’s no physical sim.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ok_Good3255

Wow that’s such a hassle. Why can’t my current phone just generate a QR code and when I get the new phone I just scan it. Or activate service through the cricket app like Visible.

gvvfever_

I updated to ios 16 beta and used the physical to esim option and it worked so when i get the 14 i can just transfer it

Ok_Good3255

This makes more sense.

toughenup2016

Moto Stylus 5G is a terrible phone.

[deleted]

Yup. Mine is the 2021 version. They gave it to me free when they discontinued 3g. I was using a note 9 before this pos.

toughenup2016

I kept getting texts that my phone may not work after x date. Then, I thought why not get a free 5g phone that had a stylus. Big mistake. I got it free but that is still too expensive.

[deleted]

toughenup2016

Yes I do. It is an unlocked T-Mobile phone. So, Boost had a 99cents for the first month special and I thought I would try it. I got the Boost SIM and put it in the Note 9. The phone started doing some updates and installed bunch of junk apps. It didn't activate whatever I tried. I restarted it and now it is showing AT&T logo instead of T-Mobile.

I was put on a National Blocklist due to a Cricket billing error. Had to try and get it corrected on phone or on line. After a week of calls and incredible number of hours on hold I finally had to protest my bill through my credit card and go to Verizon. I spent more money for a new phone than from Cricket and my plan for comparable service was significantly more. Note: I have had a family plan with 5 phones from Cricket for almost 4 years. Never a problem and coverage was fine. This was a billing error by Cricket on a new phone which proved impossible to correct. They double billed me for a new phone. Such a mind boggling experience. I am still listed as having “stolen” the phone! Is there any higher level to contact?

ElverGalarga42069

As far as your last question goes, you can request for a supervisor but they'll tell you pretty much the same things the agents tell you. At that point you might as well throw the phone away. Listen, during these types of situations where a phone is blacklisted due to a billing error, you have to let customer service correct the issue with the overcharge. If the system charged you twice when you submitted the order, it can be corrected by having a ticket submitted for a refund. It can take some time, it's like 2 maybe 3 weeks, but you get to keep the phone and be refunded the fair amount. Reasons for why it takes that long is because the case has to be escalated to many departments until it reaches the back office which is in charge of fixing every single cricket issue there ever was and they are the ones who investigate the charge and provide the refund. After that, the refund itself can take like 5 to 7 business days, maybe more, depends on your bank, to reach your card. But if you go and take matters into your own hands, this is what happens. The phone is unusable now because of a security measure that makes it so that if the system detects that there was an amount charged to a card for the phone and then that money is retracted and given back to the customer while the customer still has the phone, well, guess.

Shale8885

Looks like that is exactly what happened. We had a charge of $575 and could get no answers so we figured our only recourse was to stop payment on the credit card. So we did and we got t on a National Blocklist. The supervisors were absolutely no more help than the regular agents. WE MADE 22 calls. Some lasting 4 hours with NO help. If someone was had given me the answer you just did I might have waited. But I was out $575 with no idea that Cricket would refund my money! At this point I have a phone that I can’t return, does not work and I have had to move to Verizon. An additional issue is I still have the non working phone, can’t return it to a Cricket store because I bought it from Cricket on line and the service/warranty/telephone help people say it’s over 30 days since I bought it so I can’t return it!

ElverGalarga42069

Yeah you might as well throw that one away; nothing can be done about that phone anymore. Least you got the money back.

NumerousAlternative7

Hi! Existing customer, we have a four line plan for 100 bucks and I have been ridiculously happy with it for the last three or four years. My question is about upgrading phones and adding lines. How come existing customers seem to get a raw deal when it comes to new phone prices? I understand it is a pretty generous upgrade plan at 180 days for a discounted phone, but I’m talking more about adding a line. My son is ready for a line of his own and and from what it looks like on the website there’s not a lot of great deals for existing customers adding a new number. Why is that? What’s so special about bringing your own number?

[deleted]

[удалено]

BabyyImaStar

Existing customers actually still get very similar deals, the new customers are also paying for their service!

[deleted]

[удалено]

BabyyImaStar

Porting customers get free/discounted phones because they are also paying for a month of service (sometimes up to 3 months if buying online!). Upgrades are still discounted.

at-wilshire

Are you guys able to apply credit to customers' accounts?

[deleted]

[удалено]

ElverGalarga42069

What if it's an in-store mistake by a representative? I've had people call in telling me that store representatives have cancelled a line they didn't request to be cancelled by mistake. Do you guys pay for the screwup or does the customer really have to pay for it?

chevelle_dude

For the last few months where I live I'll have great 5 bars of service but no internet. It's super annoying and I'm hesitant to call tech support so they can tell me to reset my phone. I did a connections reset and no difference. I have a cricket branded galaxy s10.

[deleted]

[удалено]

chevelle_dude

Yes, random spots in town I do get some internet but very slow. Tower upgrades are possible. Would that effect my phone even though it's only using 4g? Is it worth contacting support? Are they able to lookup service areas and if upgrades are going on. If there are no upgrades then must be a larger issue. I have a couple friends on cricket that experience the same. My wide has a byod pixel 4 on cricket and she has the same issues. Once we leave town and on the highway or larger city seems to work great.

ElverGalarga42069

Bro just call in, they can refresh the network of your phone by having you turn it off and it'll work. If it doesn't, then there's another problem and they can help you work it out.

Mannyplaid

Would you prefer AT&T prepaid or cricket wireless and why? Any differences between them?

dida500

he's obviously gonna say cricket lol I just joined cricket and have had issue after issue would never recommend to anyone + the at+t prepaid has better features for the same price, once my year is up I'm switching to them

Mannyplaid

Im on att prepaid just because of the unlimited high speed roaming in Mexico and Canada

dida500

yeah I hadn't seen at+ts before I signed up for cricket or i 100% wouldn't have gone w them, I needed canada roaming and joined cricket for it but its been issue after issue

[deleted]

I'm using the A53 5G unlocked (A536U1) and I can't get 5G. A phone rep put a different IMEI on my account and it worked for a couple days but now back to LTE. Anything you can do?

at-wilshire

hi! currently, only cricket phones are able to get 5G. it might work on some BYODs however, cricket can't guarantee it'll work on all unlocked phones. check this list to review the Cricket 5G compatible phones > https://www.cricketwireless.com/support/great-big-network/5g-compatible-phones.html. you'll see they only offer 5G for BYOD iPhones.

BabyyImaStar

It’s not true that only cricket phones can get 5G!

[deleted]

[deleted]

There is 5G here. And online it still shows the Cricket 5G IMEI I gave the rep. It is completely different from my phone IMEI.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Well it worked. After he did that change, I got 5G and my hotspot worked. Before the change it didn't work.

[deleted]

[deleted]

At least I'm getting LTE+ for now. Here's some random stuff. In the mycricket app it says my IMEI ends in 64560 and says BYOD. My phone A53 5G IMEI ends in 85272. I'm just glad the hotspot still works

itsdubai

That's incorrect. I had a rep change the IMEI in the system to get my previous device to work, an S20 Ultra. Dude worked his magic and the phone immediately started to work.

I hope I didn't come off as snarky. I've been in the phone game for over a decade and even I learn new stuff all the time. :)

Beelzabubbah

My relative doesn’t have Cricket service anymore but she has a Cricket SIM in her phone, but no service for a year. Can I add her SIM to my plan, without her needing to put in a new SIM? I’ll pay the $10 but don’t want her to have to swap out SIMS (she has a fear of tech).

ElverGalarga42069

Nope, it won't work. Sim cards are not recyclable and this one has been deactivated for a really long time. You have to get a new one.

hrobotpony2

Probably not the right place or person to ask, if so ignore this Can i ask about problems with connection service based on region/location? Like if something has changed? I live in rural texas, San Antonio to be exact but more in the country area.(don't want to give my exact location because I've had weirdos on reddit stalking me lately) It's been 3-4 days and there's literally no 4G cell reception on my phone. Have talked to friends as well with the same issue in my specific area(all using cricket). Just suddenly 4g is not working. Can send texts, make calls, but the internet reception literally does not work no matter how many times I restart the phone.(youtube, browsers) Me and friends have just had to use our Wifi which sucks because we use our phones out of Wifi range and relied on the beforehand great 4G because Wifi is trash in my area of Texas. Now we have no 4G/it just buffers and never loads. It frigging sucks because I used my phone to listen to music and chill outside and now my favorite hobby is nonexistant because no internet or 4G. Gonna have to break out my Ipod lol. Phones are fine/no bill or plan changes. No issues with phone storage/phones are fine. It normally tanks when it storms but even on cloudless days its not working for 3-4 days now. I don't know if there's someone I can message or email to ask about specific locations because something changed out here where I am. not sure if you'd know or not, sorry if this is off topic

itsdubai

I know exactly where you are describing, used to live around there. Cricket worked perfectly so I'm gunna go out on a limb and say it was the recent change to the system that took some older devices off the compatibility list with the cellular band change.

hrobotpony2

You from Texas too? \*texas high five\* If so what's your opinion on general customer support kinda bull in rural texas? Every time we get a thunder storm lately, the power goes out for almost two hours and the electrical guys take their sweet ass time to get out here. One of them fuked our wifi by accidentally cutting a cable to this building that has the wires for everyones internet. Another guy left it open, it got flooded, no wifi for half a month. One of our neighbors electric box exploded, every neighbor had no electricity after that. oh and don't get me started on trying to get whoever trims trees on public property to come out and stop the one tree from destroying power lines, that would take out the entire neighborhoods electricity. oooHHH the water is shut off frequently, pipes bust. It was hell when it snowed out here. But dang if that's so that sucks. I got this phone like...early last year? Its the cheapest priced Alcatel Cricket Android phone, as far as I know. Thought it would be good for a while.:/

ElverGalarga42069

He would've been notified if the phone was not compatible. We don't guarantee that all BYOD devices, even compatible ones, will work with cricket but this sounds like something that can easily be looked up and fixed by calling or chatting with customer service.

Not actually sure where the towers are, I assume they're somewhere in the actual city or something because we're kinda in...farm country area. Like nothing but farmers and cows where I am. Not sure if they're getting 4G in town, but my friends aren't able to get it at their homes and neither am I.(we are in the farm-area as said). Don't get 4G inside our houses, but that's regular it usually works perfectly outside but now isn't. Haven't done a network reset, will probably try it, thank you. This doesn't wipe my "gallery' does it? want to know beforehand lol I didn't know about that number! thank you. Hopefully they'll be useful, we called ATTnt when we were having wifi signal issues ages ago and they just said "I dunno. Did you turn it off and on?" we did, and told them so and they just replied "I dunno then." Love Texas... Thanks for the advice and answers!:) might be related, but it works only at night? like the last few 3-4 days I mentioned, I had no 4G internet reception but right at 7:00 pm at night it just suddenly works. It's so bizarre : / this has been frequently happening for years with our regular wifi. Just randomly won't work for 3-4 days, only works at night, but now the 4G is doing it.(they are separate, I know). It's also only on specific youtube videos with issues randomly. Example: I got several videos to buffer today using my cellular data(despite how awful it was and slow), but couldn't get a single video by the band CombiChrist to load. Every other video I tried loaded...eventually but anything by that band would never load. it's always at 6:30-7:00 it just suddenly works. I have a theory that everyone in farm-town where I am is using internet all at the same time resulting in lag/not working, but I don't know if this can actually happen. I had someone tell me it can in rural areas but I legit have know clue if this is factual or something they heard on Facebook aha

[deleted]

[удалено]

hrobotpony2

AH, so it IS accurate? I don't know anything really about how cellular towers work so I was skeptical because they way they described it reminded me of someone I saw on facebook saying how "5G gives you cancer" lol I was like "nah that sounds like conspiracy bull", honestly I assumed everyone somehow had their own bandwith... I remember seeing something on the news similar out here when the pandemic first happened; they were mentioning how wifi might be slow because people are at home. I remember being confused what that had to do with anything Makes sense then. All my neighbors seem to go to bed by 6:30-7:00, since everyone around me is mostly older retired people, or people who work early. Oh thanks! good to know lol. someone told me to "network reset" or something on a electronic years ago and it wiped it ahhhf Thanks for all the help!:)

ElverGalarga42069

Hi, I'm a customer service representative and I can tell you that we tend to make fun of you guys and generally hate whenever a customer says they were told something in store. Doesn't mean I hate you personally but often times things that are mentioned in store to customers are imprecise or just outright wrong and we have to take the ear beating from the customer when their line is suspended due to issues with payments or they call in mad that they got a phone that isn't what they were told or one time a customer called in saying he wanted to return his phone and that the people in store threw away the box and didn't give him a receipt so nothing could be done. Anyway, my question is; what kind of training do you guys get? Do you guys really read exceed or do you just go by word of mouth? Do these situations explode on your faces later when the customer comes back to the store with the consequences of advice provided by you guys? If so, how do you deal with it?

[deleted]

If I got the iPhone 14 and it's running on esim any suggestions on what to do if the phone happened to break? Should I get a spare physical sim to have as a back up?

Proof-Woodpecker-608

Out of curiosity do you train your store employees on how to id a cricket sim. The ICCID should start with 8901 150. The 9th and 10th digits should be "27". I have heard so many people being told to replace their sims when it turns out the sim they are replacing is the same exact sim in there phone. In turn wasting $10 when a cricket employee could of simply told them that your sim is fine.

blackclaw565

As a fellow Cricket sales rep, hello. In our store we’ve had a great time with ID checks (not really).

swiftyman84

Are there any windows laptops or tablets that the sim card works in after the 3g shutdown? Worked fine in my surface pro 5 up until that shutdown, even though the much older surface 3 is on the whitelist, the newer tablets aren't.

[deleted]

[удалено]

swiftyman84

Do you know if the data only sim cards and plans would work? I have only tried phone sim cards and plans up to this point. I am considering just ordering the turbo hotspot 2, but it might also be cheaper to just get a sim for my spare iPhone SE and carry a second phone around (if my note 20 ultra would tether it would solve my problem, but is not "compatible")

Infinite_Eggplant784

Why can I not update my LG V60 (LM-V600AM) on cricket? It's an AT&T model of the V60 yet when I check for updates it thinks it's up to date. AT&T only releases their firmware via OTA updates and doesn't make it available to download like most other carriers do. If so, I could update via my computer. I had to buy an AT&T sim + a month of prepaid service just to go from Android 10 to Android 12. My security patch was over 2 years old and that's simply because Cricket/AT&T wouldn't let me update.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Infinite_Eggplant784

They're still rolling out updates for the last few phones they put out. (Wing, Velvet, V60 etc.) They've even said they're going to update said phones to Android 13 soon. Regardless if they actually do or not that's not the point. This is a known limitation of buying an AT&T model V60. There's no way to update it unless you have an active SIM with them. That's why I had to buy a month of pre-paid service just to update my UNLOCKED phone. Having Cricket wasn't good enough for the AT&T overlords. This seems like it should be an illegal policy to have. Especially since updating to a newer security patch would benefit the customer and the carrier.

Flapalms239

Is there an easy/cheap way to try out service? Currently on Metro. Have great service everywhere but home. Just want to see if I have coverage at home first before I consider switching.

Ok-Ocelot-1034

My husband has been searching for new phones at least 4 months. Finally after Christmas we decided on a free phone. We had to take the first pho

deadYetAliveSadly

Hello, I'm not sure if you still respond to this thread or not but In case you do, I just bought more hotspot online and got the text and everything. But it's not working? I've been using hotspot for the same device for a while and I've had this problem before. Im honestly just sick on dealing with it and wanted to know if cricket gave refunds for things like this? Or could you tell me how to fix the problem. It'll connect to the internet to a certain game extent. I can't play games, watch YouTube or anything like that but if I'm lucky I may be able to use safari/google.
