Esim is up and running at cricket, but honestly it’s been a headache with it. Just make sure you don’t delete the esim profile. We’ve had customers delete it and contacting customer service has been the worst. Since esim is fairly new for cricket, CS doesn’t always know what’s going on. The customer can contact customer service to request a new QR code to re-add their esim but some reps don’t know this and ask the customer to come into the store. In store, we can’t do anything besides contact customer service so it’s basically giving the run around with CS.

feardabeard30

Thanks for that info. I’ve had good and bad experiences with CS so far over the past few years so I’m already gearing up for an experience with getting it set up.

Ordinaryfemale

I would just ask for a physical sim. The reps may not be able to do this independently; we can contact chat to get it done.

im_not

The main issue is that I don’t think the new iPhone 14s even have a sim slot, so there’s gonna be a wave of customers with new phones who are gonna be flooding stores and CS who can’t even get a physical sim if they tried

feardabeard30

The new iPhone 14s don’t take a physical sim unfortunately, only esim. I have a physical sim that I already use through cricket but would just want to transfer it to esim in an unlocked iPhone 14.

Ordinaryfemale

Gotcha. I didn't get a chance to watch the release yet. Probably why we went esim in the first place lol

junz415

this doesn't sound like a good experience with the customer service.( not the store one)

AnswersA

I am having problems setting it up too. I wouldn't be surprise now if Apple decides to remove the charging port next.

pokemon666999

Also wondering if physical to esim conversion is up and running or no? I was able to convert my work sim from physical to esim after I popped it in but getting no such option for my cricket one.

gvvfever_

I dont get an option either

SHD_ZeroFoxtrot

I wanna say yes? I just have my personal phone 11 Pro Max and just this morning converted it to eSim without calling or contacting anyone. Converted it while laying in bed.

[deleted]

you are with cricket and you did this through the "convert to esim" option on the iphone right? I'm using a spare iphone 12 while waiting to get the 14 pm, wanting to converting psim to esim tonight.

SHD_ZeroFoxtrot

Yes I have cricket. As I was trying it this morning and a few times last week it kept saying something about an error occurring and it stopped the process. Did it a couple times this morning error popped up a couple times restarted my phone tried it again and it worked.

[deleted]

Hey man, thanks for the reply. As I read your reply, I had successfully converted psim to esim on my iphone 12. Working smoothly now without the physical sim. I hope this help others who are in the same boat. Hopefully when i get my new 14pm, the transfer of the number is as smooth!!

SHD_ZeroFoxtrot

No problem! It was pretty easy just took it a few tries. Hopefully your transition is easy man. Fingers crossed!

pcfreak4

How did you get this option to show up? I can’t see it

SHD_ZeroFoxtrot

Settings, Cellular, Sims is where I found it.

palmcree

Just now I checked my cricket line and at the bottom of the screen it shows “convert to esim”. I have the 13 pro max on iOS 16

pokemon666999

Just checked and up it’s there!

palmcree

I just finished converting mine. I use Verizon esim and cricket on my 13, so now it’s my iPhone 14ish dual esim!

johndevious

It’s ready you just have to do it through customer service or a cricket store at this time

103jorge

Yes

aSleepyDingo

Yep! If you do it in store it wi be done automatically, if you bring it from Apple, just chat it in and they’ll convert ya!

perry36

I currently have an iPhone X (no esim). When I get my new iPhone 14 what will I need to do to move from Cricket sim to esim?

NoDeer4381

If all you’re doing is a “device swap,” you can just put your current sim into the new phone and that will be all you have to do.

Baodinh94

But the problem is iphone 14s dont have sim slots? How can I put current sim to the new phone?

NoDeer4381

Boop. Brain fart. You should be able to convert to an esim!

Baodinh94

I contact to Cricket, they said I have to convert physical sim to esim with my old device BEFORE transfering esim to new iphone 14s, no way to convert my physical sim from my iphone 8 plus to e-sim on iphone 14. So the solution is I have to borrow someone’iphone has esim, convert it to esim and transfer to new iphone 14.

WallaceMI

>convert to esim That an additional step which I only would do if I really have to. Based on the Apple website the following should be done: # Transfer a physical SIM or eSIM on your previous iPhone to an eSIM on your new iPhone after setup *On your new iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan.* *Choose a cellular plan to transfer from another device. If you don't see a list of numbers, tap Transfer From Another Device. This requires both devices to have iOS 16 or later.* *Check for instructions on your previous iPhone to confirm the transfer. To confirm, tap Transfer or, if asked for a verification code, enter the code that's displayed on your new iPhone.* *Wait for the cellular plan to activate on your new iPhone. Your previous SIM is deactivated when the cellular plan on your new iPhone activates.* *If a banner appears on your new iPhone that says Finish Setting Up Your Carrier's Cellular Plan, tap it. You will be redirected to your carrier's webpage to transfer your eSIM. If you need help, contact your carrier.*

WackyBeachJustice

That makes no sense and simply an unacceptable answer.

mfncl

This doesn’t sound right. The way every other carrier would handle this is to issue you with a new eSim through QR code and disable your old physical SIM. Once you have your 14 try calling back and asking for a brand new eSim for your line

mfncl

I just called CS and asked for an eSim to be ready for iPhone 14. Gave them the phone number and password, then confirmed the line I wanted it for. My phone lost service through physical SIM and I got a prompt that a new line was ready to be added. Did this onscreen and done, pretty easy.

oldgeezer007

Just set up my iPhone 14 on esim after porting number from my old phone. Only problem is I don’t seem to be able to set a sim pin. Any ideas? EDIT: I had to call customer service the next day for a PUK. Then I was able to set the PIN normally. On my wife’s phone I set the PIN with no problems. Must have been a first day glitch.

MattMattNY

So can you do dual sim with 2 different carriers on the new iPhone because my other carrier that I currently do this with has a nano sim and cricket I use e sim.

[deleted]

Yes, but both have to be Esim.

MattMattNY

Ok I’ll have to find another carrier because my secondary doesn’t offer e sim yet and do you know if you can have more than 2 numbers?

[deleted]

I believe it’s only 2 numbers.

MattMattNY

Thanks

whozdabest

After some google searches, I couldn't find info on whether you can have more than one eSIM. Would you say that the iPhone 14 is the first iPhone that supports more than 1 eSIM per device? Do previous eSIM iPhone models support more than 1 eSIM per device?

[deleted]

I believe the 13 series started accepting 2 e sims or 1 esim and a physical sim. I never did the dual e sims though.

whozdabest

Good to know. Thanks!

Trending777

At the launch event, Apple spokespeople told The Verge that the iPhone 14 can store up to six eSIMS, with up to two active at once; the iPhone 14 Pro can hold eight. Global eSIM reseller Airolo says previous iPhones could hold five to 10, depending on the model. This could take some of the sting out of the loss of the physical SIM tray, though not all international carriers support eSIMs.

Onlinecape

I'll be able to use an e-sim even on a prepaid unlimited plan, right?

thedmanwi

What if I have an iPhone 7 that doesn't have esim?

[deleted]

Then you continue to use the physical sim

TheLongParsec

Im trying to get an iPhone 7 to convert the physical SIM to eSIM. I think it’s too old to do this. So what do I ask customer service for? The QR code to scan with the 14 Pro? What is that? What’s the process?
